This seems very selfish of me, and I don’t know if you speak English, but I don’t speak Dutch and this video looked interesting. This comment seemed the kindest as well, so I was wondering, if it isn’t a hassle, could you sum up this video for me? You can sum it up in Dutch and I can just translate it if that works for you. Just like the basics of what she’s talking about? I’m sorry, this is probably a really weird request so obviously you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to.

Can’t guarantee that what I understood was 100% correct so, any fluent Dutch speaker will have to correct me if I’m wrong lol. Lieke starts off by talking about when she was selected for an under 13’s regional team at the ages of 9 and the rest of the team were 11-12, because she was so small, straight away they played her as a striker. She moved away from her family at the age of 15 which went smoothly but had some difficult periods, she didn’t know how to cook so she had to learn a lot at a young age. Since she lived on her own, she was homesick a lot but she maintained her focus as she wanted the best out of her career. Last summer, one of her best friends got married and because Lieke was representing the Netherlands in the World Cup in New Zealand & Australia she wasn’t able to attend the wedding which made her feel shit. Being a footballer is a tough life, people underestimate the life of a footballer as they only see the matches and not the training sessions, a lot of travel to and from matches. As she hasn’t had much free time during her career, now that she has more free time she has started to enjoy life which she hasn’t really done for years. Now that she has some free time she wants to do more for her family and friends and invest in them more because during her career it was the other way around. Then she ends the interview by saying she would be lying if she said that she doesn’t look back on her career. Hope it helps :)

Ik moest het op mijn 14 al

Zo sneu voor haar, op je 15de uit huis geplaatst worden omdat je moet gaan voetballen (als meisje nota bene!). Topsport maakt levens kapot blijkt wel weer. Dit is ook echt niet meer van deze tijd, zo met kinderen omgaan.

Ze is vrijwillig uit huis gegaan omdat ze de beste wilde worden, van haar ouders mocht ze zelf kiezen of ze thuis wilde blijven wonen, of beter worden in Amsterdam. en ze hoefde helemaal niet te gaan voetballen maar dat deed ze omdat ze het leuk vindt

"op 15e al voor zichzelf leren zorgen" nou nondeju dat werd eens tijd. En ze moest ook zelf naar school fietsen zeker in harde regen en ook hagel soms

Pfff wat een slap verhaal.... iedereen heeft tegenwoordig "iets meegemaakt" huilie huilie
