Lie Again/For Tonight/Heartbreak Anniversary (Live) Wireless Festival London 2022 at Finsbury Park
Givēon's last two years are a lot like the early-00s Lakers: wins after wins after wins. First was that feature on Drake’s “Chicago Freestyle.” Then he dropped his ‘Take Time’ and ‘When It’s All Said and Done’ EPs, collectively clocking a 100 million streams. That was enough to earn him a Vevo DSCVR Artists To Watch 2021 invite. Next, “Heartbreak Anniversary” topped the R&B charts. If you didn’t know him by then, his feature on Biebs' “Peaches” did the trick - to the tune of more than a billion streams. Now the 27-year-old is our latest LIFT artist. Last month we linked up with the baritone singer just a few LA freeway exits north of his Long Beach hometown. So true!!! I listened to heart break anniversary a couple of times but it didn't hit me so deep as when I randomly watched a reel of this live performance.... MAN!!! his voice (singing live) is on a whole different level. The feelings literally left me in awe

This live performance of Heartbreak aniversary is clearly much better than the original version for me. This version has a sweetness with the pain of the lyrics. Original has too much sadness in it for me. I need more sweetness in my sad life 🥺

I agree, I hate that most producers autotune even phenomenal singers to make them too perfect. I know some singers now use filters when they perform live too so I’m always a little skeptical, but you can hear a few minor moments of humanness in his voice during this performance, so I don’t think he does. His deepest parts are often the backing track, but it’s all soooo good and raw.
He fucking took command of that crowd while still being an absolute vibe. What a generational talent!
