    The blocked headkick at 6:32 is the one that broke Rich's arm. You can see after the block he immediately shakes the hand. He knew it broke. Yet he kept throwing punches with it. Man... adrenaline is one hell of a drug!

    He's got solid wins on his record like Wanderlei 2x and a prime Yushin Okami, Evan Tanner and Nate Quarry were big parts of his title run, but yeah, he usually lost to the elite like Anderson, Machida, Vitor, Henderson, and Forrest. Imagine his legacy if he beat at least 2 of those guys though.

    Franklin was almost more valuable outside of the ring than inside. His clean image helped UFC a lot.

    Chucks problem wasn’t that he believed in his hands too much, it was that he refused to acknowledge his chin was cracked and he couldn’t survive fire fights

    Yeah chuck just relied on his power punching to knock guys out. But he hardly worked on his defense. He willingly traded blows. His chin could only take so much before it was gone. He just kept getting ko'd . He did help pioneer mma no doubt but the sport just passed him by

  • @shaunbang

    This one was painful and heartbreaking since it solidified the fact that Chucks chin was completely gone being knocked out three times in a row or something like that but to a middleweight that isn’t known for his punching power as the other KOs were to some heavy hitters like Rampage, Shogun and the Rashad evans punch would KO just about anyone lol I really wish Chucks career ended a different way especially the bullshit Oscar De La Hoya caused by allowing an even older Chuck to fight Tito smh. Regardless I think Chuck will always go down as one of the greatest light heavyweight champs to ever fight considering he was the champ that made the UFC super popular right before the sport broke into the mainstream a

    All of Chucks losses were heartbreaking (besides the Rampage one since I actually was super excited to see a trilogy that never happened with Rampage/I love rampage before he went cuckoo) but this one really hurt seeing him get KOed cold after he was winning the fight, but nothing can compare to the Rashad Evans KO straight from the depths of hell

    Hard to make a trilogy when one of the fighters (chuck) got his ass beat in both fights. I dont think anyone would want a trilogy between rich franklin and anderson, rampage and chuck is no different

  • @shaunbang

    @shaunbang

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@krb0123 that’s what I meant when saying we never got it but I was excited for a trilogy had Chuck beat Rampage. It’s not common but we’ve definitely seen trilogies after a fighter won the first two fights before like Rampage finally beating Wanderlei in their third (THEN fourth lol smh which is almost unheard of to have a 4th fight). Even though Chuck lost to rampage twice with the second fight being a brutal KO I think there would have been enough hype and Chuck having so many fans back then the UFC would do a third fight with rampage for the tile had Chuck not lost to Keith Jardine then went on his streak of KO losses minus the one Wanderlei fight that was ten years too late but still awesome. Crazy to think what it would have been like had chuck kept his belt and championship streak going until Jon Jones came into contention cuz that’s one fight I would have loved to see in hindsight. Obviously Jones has proven he is likely the GOAT but to see a prime winning streak via KO Chuck vs a young and throwing crazy spinning shit all the time Jon Jones would have been amazing!

    Good points, I agree. I loved that rampage/wanderlei rivalry and that’s a good example of a fighter getting dominated twice but coming back to win in brutal fashion in the 3rd fight. I really miss those days of mma. Good times man

    Im glad they got rid of the gladiator part cuz it’s always super cheesy and the production quality looked pretty low but I do have to admit I miss the old metal song I think it was called here comes the pain. That guitar riff was so iconic and such a resemblance of the UFC I was bummed they stopped using it.

    Rich got in when a school teacher could knock out the “most dangerous man in the world”. Chuck got the 205 divisional weight class invented for him, and Tito. Good for Rich. Sadly, Chuck’s alcohol and drug intake helped take away his chin

    What's interesting about this fight is that Chuck here still has the skills to go, it's just his chin that's gone. And it's really sad because back in his prime he could have taken a crowbar to the chin and kept going
