Thank you!! We JUST had the lid lock replaced and this happened again! I tried this and it locks perfectly find now, the darn thing just needed to be unstuck! The guy we had come fix it only 2 months back quoted us another 400 to fix it again

Don't ever let anyone take advantage of you like that. The part is worth nothing unless you need it. I mean for god sakes I charge $125 for in home repair. 😮 If the customer needs the part of course they cover the part but $400 is the price that he is quoting you hoping that you won't want to do the repair. They want to show up on you they want the diagnostic money which is Maybe $50-100$ I only charge $40 for diagnostics..... Don't ever pay that kind of price because they are highballing you hoping you will say no

My Kenmore series 700 worked fine for about a year. Then the code DL would light up. My husband took over the washing because he said he could get it to wash. Well, he was wrong, bless his heart. I began researching this machine two days ago. I read everything I could find about this machine. After all my reading, I wrote down the instructions for my washer, which is: when the DL lights appear, unplug the washer for 5 minutes in order for the power to drain out of the machine. It is a computer, and as we all know a computer has to be unplugged from the power source from time to time. Take out the clothes, I only wash small amounts. My research revealed not to fill this machine above the 4th line of holes from the top of the tub. It was meant not to wash large loads as it is meant to conserve water. After 5 minutes, with the washer still unplugged from the power source, press the start/pause for five seconds, then release. Fluff each item of clothing, load the tub being sure not to cover the white sensor in the middle of the machine. Close the lid. Plug in the washer to the electrical outlet and press the power button. The DL error code appeared again. I took my small pinkie finger and inserted it into the lid where the lock is to connect to the body of the machine. I also inserted my pinkie finger into the lock area of the body of the machine. I adjusted the temperature on my machine, and as the water was filling I gently bumped it with my left hip. I am 5' 4" tall, weight, 140 lbs, so my hip bump was very gentle. This machine began to work. To all those who have a Kenmore series 700 HE top loader with a grey glass lid; this may work for you. If it does not, do not give up. Research, research, research. My home repair fellow for 36 years said there was no way to fix this; just buy a new one. I can use my money for something else! I like solving problems!

Thank you! Just did the same and (so far) it's working. What a stupid and unnecessary design that is obviously a weak point in a ton of washers.

The word hero is overused in todays society, but I think it fits here. Thanks for the help!

We had the same problem and find the error code on the manual door lock dl you can by pass it with a magnet or you can clean by the washer door hinges with a wet towel clean the soap residue ( this solve my problem )

can it work without the lid lock? I broke mine pulling it out

I have the same washer and mine doesn't spin after the rinse cycle, I have been looking all over KZread to try and find a video to help but nothing. I hope you see this so can give me a few pointers on what to do or where to go. thanks in advance

@@kenlowell9862 lookup the video on using a magnet to bypass the lock. It a little tricky and you need a strong magnet. It looked pretty ghetto i must say, but it actually does work. Eventually i bought a replacement part online

Part # W10619844. Its an upgrade version of the stock mechanism but you can only buy the This piece as the whole lid lock system
