Liberec Zoo is the oldest zoo in the Czech Republic (and in the former Czechoslovakia). Its beginnings date back to 1904, when the then ornithological association established a larger public bird aviary in the area of the Lidové sady park, which later expanded to include other exhibitions and deer enclosures.
