Your scenario really begs questions like, what kind of trained gun owner would leave a loaded gun in child's reach? The trained gun owner locks up their weapons. Your example of the door swinging "both ways" using the innocent child as illustration just reinforces the fact of what a responsible gun owner would not do....like leave a loaded weapon available for a child to grab.... Also it would prove an adult with irresponbility was the criminal in the child shooting itself accidentally, not the guns fault. Actually, I’m a woman who is on call for my job, which means sometimes I have to drive an hour or longer in the middle of the night and sometimes I have to meet men I don’t know, in the middle of the night. I was afraid, I was afraid of inspiring an episode of Law and Order SVU. But I started carrying a gun, and now I’m not afraid. Problem solved.

That's why I believe in individual's freedom. Because no one knows what's best for everyone. Now I think its good to give opinions in a civil manner. But no to assume your way is the best way. If someone doesn't like guns and doesn't think they need them for self defense, thats fine just so long as they keep it to themselves. I've done some martial arts training. I'm a weapon enthusiast (definitely a historical weapons kind of guy, but I'll be damned to ignore all the advantages a gun gives). I have troubles gaining mass due to my schedule and just how my body functions. A weekend or two a month will allow me to be far more effective using a gun as opposed to using hand to hand. Even knives or bats, just gets too close. And pepper spray or tazers don't always work. So as someone who wants the responsibility to defend myself, a gun just makes sense.

The continue legalization of various addictive substances like weed, etc. These choices can be extremely harmful, lead to bad behaviors, and only a host of other issues. They push that a small child can decide if they want a sex change that then can lead to the child being suicidal when hormones are fighting of the child's brain. (Trans people have suicide rates comparative to military personal who served in combat.) Yet, they pretend to know "what's best" when half the things they support only ever harms individuals.

@@paulwilliams8548 Its to distract. If the person they debate with happens to be caught off guard with the words used or not know its meaning, it's a point to belittle. Basically an "Ah ha! You're stupid!!" while simultaneously getting truly stupid people to think their argument is smart. Allowing their position to land better than the others. They cant argue on the merits of their position and instead move the goal post to something erroneous. Hense, "kids in cages" avoids the sex trafficking. Or assault weapons never addressing stabbings or handgun deaths. Or BLM never being mentioned when talking about Jan. 6th. The list goes on.

This was absolutely and beautifully presented. My mind hurts to think that she even presented her position and didn't think it through!

@@justsumname my point was that calling rifles unnecessary is just as dumb as calling trucks unnecessary. It's a claim made frequently by anti-gunners that plainly shows their ignorance and selfishness. They'll happily regulate something away simply because it doesn't affect them, and despite all their preaching of tolerance and love, they don't care one whit about the people it does screw over.

Man. That last line you had about "people welcoming oppression because they don't want to or can't handle the responsibility of maintaining freedom"... shit gave chills 💯💯

If you look at the ever-growing number of people who get support from the government, between welfare, section 8, food stamps, Social Security disability and Social Security retirement, you can start to see how almost half or even more of the population looks to the government as daddy, or even sometimes, “God.” In reality those in government are, more often than not, just buffoons can’t make it in the private sector and get to enjoy the outrageous benefits, like generous pensions, in the public sector. And I definitely include Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders in the buffoon category.

People who did not own guns and didn't bother to know the gun laws in California went to gun shops to buy a gun to protect their businesses. The gun store owners smiled as they slid the paperwork across the counters and said that there is a 15 day waiting period. Naturally, the people screamed at the gun store people "what do you mean I have to wait 15 days, this is America"? That is the price of apathy.

The Columbine shooting happened during an assault weapons ban and a high capacity magazine ban. He just used multiple 10-round magazines.

Have you ever called 911 for a serious crime? I have. Burglar had them at gun point took them 20min to get to my house and it was in 3rd largest city in So California Anaheim. Disneyland. You think the response be quick right? Not even. Hope you never need to wait for police. Look up Warren vs DC. Where 2 women called 911 2x they were rapped and kidnapped for a day. They tried to sue because the police showed up twice and did nothing. Courts said. The police HAVE NO DUTY to protect you. In other words. If they see you being assaulted or robbery. They technically have no duty to respond. Pretty shitty. Don't believe me. The COP in Florida where the kids were being shot and he stood outside coward he could of stopped many deaths. He was fired. While I don't disagree with this comment, or any of the facts that he presents, it is frustrating that very few people will talk about the only fact that matters. That is the fact that we are all free people. As such we have a right to protect both our freedom and our lives by any means necessary. Until such time that we are convicted by a jury of our peers for infringing upon the rights of another person, there's not an organization on the face of this earth that's authorized to infringe upon those rights. Anyone who feels differently is trying to infringe upon the rights of another, and should be tried, convicted, and appropriately punished for doing so.
