You're laughing so hard over Jim Carrey's antics but can you imagine what it must be like to be another actor on set with him and not crack up when he's all over the place like he does? They must have to do a hundred takes.

the fact that she was underage should've rendered the marriage certificate void as well but since they'd lived with each other as a couple for over 10 years the state still recognised them as a married couple so she was still entitled to a share of the money

23:40 But that's also the difference between him and that man. That man's children are being taken from him by a woman who said herself that he was a good father to them and only wanted them because of greed (and some wonder if she would've done it if Fletcher hadn't talked so much about her being a victim - he's such a good liar he convinced her that it was true), but he's going to fight for his children even if he looses. Max is being taken from him because his wife sees no evidence that he is a good father to Max. She knows he loves Max but knows that all he's really done is make Max feel miserable. Fletcher is seeing here a man who's fought to be with his children while he knows that he has squandered every chance to be with his son, always being late or having to cancel, always putting his ambitions above his sons happiness and sense of security. And that even if the man looses custody of his kids his kids will still love him and know that he loves them. Max does love his dad but hasn't had much evidence that his dad loves him, and because of the way he's acted, as they said in 'The Nanny Diaries' (the book is much better than the movie, so's the book's sequel Nanny returns): "Time is running out. He won't love you unconditionally much longer. And soon he won't love you at all". Sorry if I ranted a bit - when I first saw this movie I read a lot of comments accusing that woman of being like 'so many other women trying to take men's children away from them' and things like that, and that made me angry because over here in Australia (hi!) we'd just heard the story of a woman who was killed by her husband. He was abusive so she ran away and took the kids with her, and then in the middle of the divorce proceedings he trapped her and the kids in the car, poured petrol over them and set it on fire before killing himself. And while most people in the comments were heartbroken and sympathetic there were a lot of people saying 'she drove him to it, taking his kids away from him'. And I mostly kept thinking 'He set his children on fire', but it turns out that actually she was still willing to share custody of the kids with him (ie she gets them three days and he gets them four days one week, the next week they switch) and was going to allow him to call and email them, and his lawyer recommended he take the deal but he didn't. I guess I'm mostly angry at that woman in the movie because women like her insult the men and women who really are victims in an abusive or neglectful marriage who are trying to get away from it and who are trying to keep their children safe, and I'm also angry at people who classify all actual victims as people like her. Sorry for the rant.

If this was a case of a fairy godmother from a fairy tale, Max's wish would've been granted because he made an honest and unselfish wish. If this was a case of folklore, one of the local fae (as in faery rather than fairy) would've granted his wish because they could tell it would have hilarious results and they love pranking humans.

This movie is a fun fantasy comedy film where a young boy wished that his father, a successful lawyer, would never tell a lie, until his father starts to tell the truth, with hilarious and disastrous results.

OMG, every time you laugh, it trigger me to crack up as well. Had a blast watching this reaction. One thing that always stands out to me about this film is that technically, the protagonist is the antagonist! Jerry could be so easily written as an antagonist, but they completely steered clear of that and made him a really decent guy. Even when he says things against Fletcher, we as the audience agree with him. For me, I think this is Jim's best movie. The Mask is my favourite movie with Jim Carrey in it, but this is my favourite Jim Carrey movie. That does make sense, lol. The Mask is more than just its leading actor to me, and Liar Liar is just Jim Carrey at maximum Jimocity.

In the 1993 film, "The Fugitive" Harrison Ford's character also uses a car phone. And Tom Arnold's character used one in "True Lies" (1994). I think the earliest use of a mobile phone in film was "Wallstreet" (1987) when Michael Douglas's character Gordon Gecko uses a suitcase sized mobile phone while walking on the beach. I think the suitcase part was for the battery. (of course I'm excluding phone usage in futuristic sci-fi shows such as Star Trek (1966) which famously used a mobile 'communicator'). I remember way back in 1990 when a co-worker used a brick sized mobile cell phone at the time. Ah, the good 'ol days! 😄
