Lauryn: Sings the song as if she processing the hurt of the relationship. Lianne: Sings the song as if she healed and moved on but still remember the sting of the relationship. The Vulnerability, Passion and Soul is undeniable in both songs tho. 🥺

Very few of her contemporaries can fw her tone. She's been a vocal force since she came on the scene. Never sold herself short attempting to be "pop" She is always in her lane, always one to watch

@@buyop9441 I agree. I love jazz piano (ex Chick Corea, Monk etc) and dissonance, but here it just doesnt fit at all for me. It takes from her performance rather than adding to it. Im sure the pianist is great, but here it kindof ruined her amazing performance for me. Especially in the chorus.

It could all be so simple, But you have to make it hard Loving you is like a battle, And we both end up with scars Tell me, who I have to be, To get some reciprocity 'Cause no one loves you more than me, And no one ever will Is this just a silly game, That forces you to act this way? Forces you to scream my name, Then pretend that you can't stay Tell me, who I have to be, To get some reciprocity 'Cause no one loves you more than me, And no one ever will No matter how I think we grow, You always seem to let me know It ain't workin', It ain't workin' And when I try to walk away, You'd hurt yourself to make me stay This is crazy, this is crazy I keep letting you back in, How can I explain myself? As painful as this thing has to be, I just can't be with no one else See I know what we've got to do, You let go and I'll let go too 'Cause no one's hurt me more than you, And no one ever will No matter how I think we grow, You always seem to let me know It ain't workin', It ain't workin' And when I try to walk away, You'd hurt yourself to make me stay This is crazy, this is crazy Care (for me, care for me, I know you care for me) There (for me, there for me, Said you'd be there for me) Cry (for me, cry for me, You said you'd die for me) Give (to me, give to me, Why won't you live for me?) Care (for me, care for me, I know you care for me) There (for me, there for me, Said you'd be there for me) Cry (for me, cry for me, You said you'd die for me) Give (to me, give to me, Why won't you live for me?) Where were you?

She is stunning! Easily one of the most gifted and talented individuals of our lifetime. I watch her videos everyday, such an incredible voice!
Wtf. I almost always hate covers. I almost cried when I listened to this. I’m sure Lauryn Hill has been subjected to many covers of this song that grinds the hearts of so many human beings. This one’s good. Really good.
It's such a beautiful experience hearing her without her guitar. she doesn't need to focus on the technicity of her guitar playing, she can freely enjoy singing. there's something different.
@palmdaleslim
4 ай бұрын
You are so wrong. She is a real guitarist with the passion we all have for the instrument. She talks about how it makes her body feel to play. She won’t give up and NEVER should. There are HUNDREDS of KZread videos with Guitar Lessons of her songs. I hate it when ignorant non musicians try to give musical insights. They are never insightful and always demonstrate a lack of understanding of how musicians feel.
The tone, the vibrato, the control. Lianne you did that!! ✨✨ I grew up with that song and you did it justice. Bravo!!!

oh god she really did justice to a song almost impossible to do so. absolutely stunning
Geez. She blows me away. Every performance. Her last album. Her lyrics. Her tone and cadence. Her energy coming through in some of her music. Even the message she wrote in the vinyl of her last album. This year has given me the time to really delve into some artists that have become staples in my music collection. That's one good thing from this year. Lianne La Havas is one of those artists. Just hits the spot. Ya know?
