本劇繼續《新紮師兄》（1984年版）的劇情，在張偉杰與謝穎之分手後，他又因母親的要求和自己的志向而重新回到警校。然而他的新上司韓彬對其一直心懷偏見，二人關係緊張。張偉杰的叔父張竟成從中國大陸來到香港，與葉昌華長女葉巧楠相戀，但此時韓彬為搶奪葉巧楠，陷害張竟成使其有案底不能當醫生，並娶葉巧楠為妻，續集的故事就此展開。 倪峰 (劉青雲飾) 入獄後，不願拖累妻子張嘉汶 (劉嘉玲飾) ，要求與她離婚。嘉汶內心痛苦，但為了令峰安心，最終協議分開……

I watched 1988 when I was in 5th grade, it's not worth watching compared to the 1st 2.

@@magmamere Not many love stories in 1988 as in I and II. Mostly actions.Not very appealing to ladies viewers.

This is the series when Cheing Wai Kit becomes police superintendent in charge of his district vs another superintendent Chun Pui who has many direct connections with the underworld in his patrolling area.
