Li Na could have a few more years near the top of the game, she had a lot of injuries after AO 2014, it was said in 2015 she could not come to Australia to defend her title. She retired when she was not in the physical condition to contend for the big titles.

The stat about Li Na being the only woman in the past 30 years (prior to 2014) to win the first set and lose the AO final is a jarring one. It really was all mental. Crazy how she could have been a 4x GS champion but glad she was able to defeat her demons in 2014 at the very least

the 3rd AO final, was her final, she's a legend of the sport, and what she did for tennis in Asia and specially in China, has no price, she won against all the odds, the most difficult one, her own country, put in the global map, for a good reason, Wuhan (before coronavirus), the Asian swing is basically her swing, for what she did for the sport in Asia, and it was really sad that she can't even had the opportunity to enjoy it. Still my favorite for a reason, her game, that backhand, her titles, n2 in the world trying to move Serena out of n1, her slams the first one's for an Asian... there's only one Li Na, and that sense of humor is unique and really missed in the tennis world.
