    I really appreciate that you are so ethical with the use of antibiotics. I was put on antibiotics for multiple years as a teen by a derm and I now have pretty bad GI issues and trouble finding effective antibiotics when I actually need them. Especially because I'm allergic to penicillin and derivatives. So thank you. 😊

    Dr Dray- is it okay to combine a bha with retinol every night? I have been doing this without any irritation but is it bad for my skin?

  • @mgcoulter1877

    @mgcoulter1877

    4 жыл бұрын

    Sarah Wierenga It’s not okay because the bha deactivates the retinoid, so it isn’t working to it’s full potential. Instead, use the retinol at night and move your use of the bha to the morning. Hope that helps!

    That's because here in Chile it's sold more like a treatment/moisturiser, you can use it daily, night and morning, it's not as 'strong' as if it had Benzoilperoxide. I dont have acné, just ocassional commedones and blackheads, and it was still recommended to me by my derm, to prevent them and the marks I tend to have after a comedone.

And during night I use a thicker cream or the hada labo whitening one (blue jar). I also use the effaclair face wash or the cerave ultra moisturize one. And once in a while benzoylperoxide. Salicylic acid has been a game changer for me in terms of reducing the appearance of my sebaceous filaments in my T zone. Would LHA work similarly or better?

    Hi Dr. Dray. I had a question about adapalene and was curious if you can use an aha with it at the same time? And i tried using it with benzyl peroxide- great tip! :)

    I love LHA. It does all the things you mentioned. But what I love most is it smooths and refines my skin texture. I use LOreal’s LHA serum. It’s a staple for me 👌🏻

    superrrbee I don’t use it for acne, but I’m sure it helps keep my skin clear. I normally have orange peel skin and with this, it’s much more smooth.

    Thanks for All the details, much appreciated ❤️ Sadly Effaclar didn't work for me, for some reason...it made my oily skin breaking out, it also turned super red, super sensitive, itchy and stinging, so after a week of using it, I stopped 😢 tbh I'm Just glad my skin recovered well 😅

    I have oily sensitive skin and I tried the European version for four nights. My skin is softer but my pores look huge/enlarged and my skin feels itchy/irritable and is red when when i put my moisturizer on. Not worth the trouble in my opinion

    What is your opinion of Mario Badescu Drying Lotion as a spot treatment? It's INCREDIBLY popular with celebrities, and I find it useful. However, is it bad for your skin? What ingredients may be problematic?

    I’m not Dr. Dray, but my opinion of the drying lotion is the same as the rose water spray: Don’t even think about it. It’s largely calamine lotion with the drying aspect stemming from quite a peculiar concentration of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), camphor, talc, and salicylic acid. Likely, it has the high potential to be an irritant for the skin. Hope this answered your question or at least partially lol.

    I have been using benzoyl peroxide from 2 minutes up to an hour or so every morning, then wash it off. My adult acne loves it! Or well... hates it :-) and I love it!!!!! Years ago it burnt my skin off and gave me horrible rashes down my neck (only ever used it on face). Leaving it on overnight is too much for me, but this way I have no irritation AT ALL. I use a mild salicylic acid at night because I like the theory behind it, but never know if it ever did anything!

    I actually wanted to ask since I'm a recent user of this brand, I use the gel the go over with the creams (effaclar duo, effaclar sensitivity then the sunscreen) like reccomeded by my pharmacist.. i noticed that every single time I apply the cream my skin begins to burn and itch and it flakes... I'm so confused as it's only been the third day of using the product....

    What do you think about Veltin? I am currently using it with amazing success. It is 0.025 tretinoin with clindamycin in a gel vehicle. It ticks all my boxes for working and being easy to use without irritation, but do you think people should switch to just tretinoin in the longer term to avoid antibiotic resistance on the skin?
