LGB layout expansion, installing more TRACK and RAILROAD CROSSING

Ғылым және технология

Have a look at my latest progeress! I started out by clearing a planter area and removing a concrete curb, then I build a small retaining wall. With the ground at the right elevation I began to bend and install some tracks and a switch. Finally I was able to pour my railroad crossing out of concrete, remove the forms, put fill dirt around it and set the track in ballast. Enjoy the video!

Greetings, I have been following your channel for quite a while, watching all your projects and the latest one with the concrete crossing and you using five mil, six mil quarter minus looks absolutely fabulous. I’m not building my Railway my Railway is 1 m off the ground, double main line, which will be running analog, but your Railway looks absolutely neat and tidy and well thought out you’ve done a marvelous job yourself and your friend. Keep up the marvelous work, yours, Jeff Melbourne, Australia.

Thank you! I really appreciate your comment. I wish you the very best for your own layout. There are many ways to build a garden railroad, it´s just important to pick the right way for your needs!

Very interesting to see how you lay track from A to Z. The device you use to curve the tracks does a good job. It is much more prototypical than dedicated sections of preset diameter curves.

Oh yes, using flex track is a game changer! I won´t go back to preset diameter curves any time soon unless it´s a temporary section of track.

Thank you, I appreciate it! Building this railroad truly transforms the garden as well. But I try to use the existing features of the garden to build my layout into the garden and not the garden around the layout. So far it works out great!

So far it seems to work out for me, the only one´s complaining are some german guys but thats fair enough. Soon I will be switching gears on this project, track installation for this season is nearly done. Now I will start to install the wiring, finish my signal box and build some plattforms as well. Lots of work left but its so much fun!

Moin Martin!

There will be a bunch more line, currently I am at the half way point. But for this season I am nearly done with track installation. The plan is to add all the details at the existing line first and then continue to expand the layout. This way I have a small portion of the layout operational and can have some fun! It won´t be a loop, the line goes from A to B.

That depends on where you live. I am lucky enough to live in germany where many G-scale manufacturers are based, that makes it pretty easy to buy anything you need locally. As accessories I use: Massoth screwing connectors to join the rails Thiel flex track plus sleepers TrainLI track bender

When it´s done right you can have a lot of fun, a very diverse hobby which requires a lot of different skills and you need to be very knowledgeable in different fields like prototypical railroad, gardening, electrical and a lot more!

Ein weiterer Vorteil ist das man ein fertig zusammengebautes Gleis biegen kann und nicht jedes Schienenprofil einzeln biegen muss.
