This was an excellent video, thanks I found the same resistor faulty, replaced both as you suggested, and the motor is working again!! Thinks again Philip

Nice to hear that it fixed you machine. My machine has been working properly ever since i did that repair. Now the next problem seems to be the bearings of the drum. I have not yet tried to change bearings. Don't even know if it is possible.

Habe aktuell genau dasselbe Problem. Also insgesamt 4 Widerstände.

Good video and thanks for posting. I have the same issue with my 3 year old Kenmore Elite washer displays the LE error code. At this point I believe these front loading machines were poorly designed. They look great and make effective use of space but have demonstrated to be unreliable. I've done every step to troubleshoot the LE issue and none have solved the problem. I've practically rebuilt the machine with new parts. I'm considering purchasing a traditional inexpensive top load washer to replace this expensive so called efficient Kenmore washer.

I encountered this problem recently. Got the part in hand, 1-5 read 9.6kOhm and 1-4 read 1. So 1 of the resistor is bad. Follow your video, I got trouble understanding how was it that you determined 330 ohm for the new resistors. Also, you stated to use higher power rating--can you elaborate more on this? I ordered new part for the Hall sensor already, but I just want to know more about your method of solving it. Thank you so much!

Hi, The original resistor value is 330ohm as it could be read on the resistor case and measured from the intact resistor. The power rating of the resistor seems to be insufficient since it has broken. If the resistor case is 0603 its power rating is probably 63mW or 100mW. This would give that the voltage over the resistor needs to be under 4.5V in normal temperature in order not to exceed the power rating. Normally 3.3V or 5V would be used on this kind of inputs which shows that there is not much margin in power rating. Any higher ambient temperature will require the maximum power to be de-rated to a lower value. But for instance using 2/3 of maximum rated power would be a good rule of thumb which ensures that the resistor won't fail. Changing the resistors to resistors with about 250mW or higher power rating would make a big improvement on the reliability. The resistor can be either through hole (THT) type or surface mount type (SMD). Through hole type will be easier to mount since the leads can be bent and soldered to the pads of the current footprint.

@@jimkauppinen3908 Thank you so much for your swift response. I figured that you would need at least 1 more variable to determine the power rating, in this case it was on the resistor case. It makes more sense to my small brain now. Thank you again for your time and instruction. In short, if my resistor labels are the same as yours (which I highly think it should because of the same part number), then I will need a pair of 330 Ohm with power rating around 250mW to ensure the new resistors have longer life expectancy ?

@Guravaiah Mannem If you are getting the LE error the resistors are probably broken inside the sensor. I can see from my measurements before and after the repair that the resistance measurement did not change so much. It is therefore probably not possible to determine if the sensor is broken or not from the measurement. From the two broken sensors that I repaired it can be seen that the resistance between them already differs quite much. Please give thumbs up if you managed to repair the sensor :)

That rotor sensor failure often causes error code LE to appear. A very common part failure. Here is the symptom and fix in a video I made, for reference: kzread.info/dash/bejne/YpuMr8WslKrTlM4.html
