    Wow!!! This video deserves a million thumbs-ups! I bought a G5 1 year ago, and am not in the position to spend $100 to get it fixed, let alone another $700 for a new phone. This video, along with a $5 part, and I was able to completely fix my charging port issue!!! I can't tell you how awesome this was, or how easy. I've fixed computers before, so I know how to open up a chassis and insert / remove a card, etc, but dealing with stuff like this intimidates the HELL out of me. But your step-by-step video REALLY helped me get it done. And only in about 5 minutes! Kudos, and THANKS!!!

    Just wanted to say I used your video to repair my phone just now and it worked perfectly. Upon first plugging in the phone, before turning it back on I did get the message so many people see, saying it was not compatible. Upon turning the phone on and having it re-sync the time correctly it works just fine.

    FYI... before doing this, and if your problem is with erratic charging, or not able to get fast charging to work all the time, I fixed my problem with no disassembly at all. I simply cleaned out the not-so-obvious lint and dust that packed into the bottom of the charge port. Shut the phone off then use a magnifying glass and a tiny, pointed pick with very bright lighting. I tried a paperclip but it just wasn't sharp enough. It was packed down rock hard! I used a very tiny dental pick to scrape it out then blow out the remainder. Worked liked a champ.

Does it have to be programmed ? The new bottom piece was suppose to be AT&T and that is my carrier also. I should of worked ???? Thanks Jim

    Thanks, was planning on buying a new Phone. As battery was draining quick and port was loose so it fell out everytime i want to charge it. i had to put it in a specific was so the cable was blocked so it could not drop out. Instead of spending 600 on a new Phone i bought a new battery and a new charging dock. Phone is now 100% ok again. total damage… 35 bucks! Thanks for the video, well explained.

    hey there , do you mind sharing the link or seller you purchased your flex part. I looked at the link you sent and purchased one however it looks like there is a contact that is welded in the original piece that is missing in the new piece and I believe that is giving me a module connection error and wont go past error.Many thanks

    I don't know the exact one. As long as it's OEM quality and specifically for you model phone then it should fit.. Did you get it for your model?

    Wait I think I got a problem with my g5 charging port, which every time I plug in the charging connector into it, it feels lightly in the lose, so while am using the phone while charging I have to make sure of not making fast quick moves with the phone or any rough movements cuz otherwise the plugging connector would come off the charging port very easily, so is it just the connector or just the plugging port into the phone, i would really appreciate if you answer me

    +Alvaro Wilson I would try a different charging cord to verify its no that, if not then the charging port is probably gonna need to be replaced soon.

    +Dario Corsi Yes sounds like a bad microphone. It should be built into the charging port.

    Quick question how can i know if I need to change my charging port or my battery? Everytime I try to charge my phone while most of the times it makes my charging cable super hot so I have to take it out real quick sometimes the only way it will charge is if I turn off my phone

  • @SmartEasyDIYer

    @SmartEasyDIYer

    I would say that sounds like a bad battery to me. I think if it’s the charging port it just won’t try charging at all when it goes bad.

    We are getting an error saying, "This module you've attached doesn't work for this phone or isn't inserted correctly." We ordered a new flex but had to desolder a little bronze contact with 3 points and move it over to the new flex.

    @SmartEasyDIYer

    +Auburn Data Solutions Wow that's weird. It seems like the new flex part should've had that contact. If you got all your connectors hooked up right gen I don't know why it's giving an error unless it's just a faulty part.

    We looked a little closer and there a lot of differences in the boards. Some pieces aren't the at all or in a very different configuration. Mainly behind the charge port itself. Original part on the right. Thank you for responding! _lh3.googleusercontent.com/D1L5584GrZFrq-huGig4CueTpI9HByT8CjCRV70dDQdNVXzJWZFURAFuoj4YcXrSgCeLVr0fzA_

    Is the charging port the reason why my fast charger doesn't fast charge?? Because I've already bought another charger and is still new and it did that, I even tried my stepdads to see and it did that too, it just charges normally and slow which really pisses me off
