LG 40WP95C-W Ultra-Wide Monitor: Oddball Thoughts & Info (Review lite)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Quick video with my thoughts on my new LG 40WP95C-W 5K2K ((5120 x 2160) monitor, which replaced a Seiki SE39UY04 38 inch 4K television set I've been using as a monitor since 2013. Is the text too small for an old guy to see? How long are the included cables? You know, stuff like that.
Non-affiliate link to the monitor arm in the video:
www.amazon.com/dp/B07NQ56KGK
The only thing bad about this arm is that the bottom (the "forearm") doesn't articulate on the base as you would expect (like a swing-arm desk lamp). BUT, you can mount in 1 of 4 directions so you can generally fiddle it into place. In my case, I mounted it sideways (facing left).
The DVI adapter I am using to drive the ancient 2005 Dell 1K monitor from thunderbolt is here:
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...
It was cheap and has been trouble-free.

Thank you for the monitor arm recommendation, I just got this monitor and was looking at others that were much more expensive and it looks like that one will do the job just fine.

Yeah, the only problem with it is the bottom joint where it attaches to the desk does not articulate, but it seems like that can be worked around, perhaps with an odd-ball orieentation of the base.

I think I find this more helpful than the "non-lite" reviews. Plus I'm here for the side commentary (best keyboard, review of reviewers, practicalities vis. porn site specs).

This review was so refreshing (after watching so many simillar videos). Thank you! I have 2 questions, I've noticed people complain about 2 things about this monitor - 1. build-in adapter coil whining, 2. flickering and image retention. Have you experienced it with your unit?

  • @WardCo

    @WardCo

    Жыл бұрын

No, so far it's behaving perfectly (been about 6-8 weeks I guess). But I know some of the people I read about who had the flickering problem didn't have it develop until around 6 months in. So we'll see. I'm actually really liking the immersive quality of the thing, so I hope it keeps working!

Hi, firstly great video. Honest and something very helpful for me to decide. I just have one small question, does the macOs scaling is bad as I read somewhere it stated that it is very small as I intend to connect the monitor to my Mac mini M2. If you could advise. Thanks Amit

I received my 40wp95c today I had to change scaling to smallest(all the way to the right). to get it the same size as a normal 27" 1440p. the default setting everything was overblown, like 1080 on 27"

I hated super wide screen (21:9) as the viewable height was too short for apps for the small monitors when they first came out. The 40" has a 15" viewable height, so you can comfortably open an app, without losing half the space by tool/status bars.

Yeah, the good thing about the "5K" is it has the "dot-height" of a 4K monitor. The bad thing is those dots are small. I'm mostly liking it now, though I do throw things on the old 1K Dell to the side sometimes to embiggen them.

@@dpak6 Well maybe intended is not the right word. I just read it somewhere that people were recommending disabling it to enable 72hz. According to the documentation, Thunderbolt Out enables Daisy-Chaining and I guess that is the "reason".
