Lexus LC500 Ownership | Good, Bad, and, Real Talk

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video, we discuss my long-term ownership of a Lexus LC500 and detail the problems and the joys of the car. New SUVs and Cars are expensive, luxury products are more disposable so at nearly $100,000 we take it seriously. I talk about the things I love and hate and showcase technology and engineering. Other cars to consider, BMW M5, Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type, Audi S7, and Corvette C8.

I’ve had my 2018 LC since it was new. I absolutely love this car. It still makes me smile even just looking at it, and giggle when I let it rip. I’ve had probably 30 cars in my life and nothing has ever come close to the feeling that I get with this car. The LC is not a spec sheet car. It’s not a Swiss Army knife of utility and function. It’s a FEELING car. And the way it makes me feel is priceless.

Bought a "used" 2020 in October of 2020. Was shopping for 2018, coming from a Porsche 718, but ended finding the 2020 for almost the same price as a 2018. Here in Canada, you don't have option choices.... you take either base or fully loaded. Most on the market are fully loaded. I have to say that I appreciate the dual personality... great cruiser when you need it to be, good toy when you want to monkey around a bit. Not as fun as my 718 (manual), but enough to satisfy. Don't care much about the lack of space or storage... I knew what I was getting in when bought. My only complaint so far is the sport seating. And my fault for being a large-ass boy. Cushion bolster too narrow and makes it uncomfortable for large ass boys for long rides. But again, this was known to start with. Still hoping to loose weight for the next season !!!

I'm a bit "heavy" myself and have had several cars with sporty seats that hurt in the second hour. Yours, in my opinion, is the right attitude to have. I just picked up a 2021 convertible. I absolutely love this car, and let me tell you, so do many others.....and they say it to me. It’s also very rare to see one around. It truly is a very special car that looks like no other, so it turns many heads. Being that I bought it as a weekend / down time car, I can live with some of the shortcoming like the lack of storage space and the trackpad infotainment system which is pretty cumbersome. It’s really a lot of fun, especially with the top down, and clearly very reliable. This car offers me personally, exactly what I wanted it for. It’s a luxury sport GT, that has enough power to enjoy, and is very comfortable. I’m never going to the track with it, and I’m never racing anyone with it.....it’s not what I got it for.

I appreciate your take on the LC. I'd been researching the vehicle for two years and finally bought a used 2020 with 7500 miles. Literally the only experience I've had that's different from yours is the seat comfort. I picked it up from out of state and drove it 1600+ miles home. It was literally the first vehicle I've driven that caused me zero back or hip pain the entire ride. I was floored at how well-bolstered the driver seat is, and continue to feel that way. Great review and very honest. If you truly understand what niche this vehicle is intended to fill, it's pretty much impossible to be anything but joyful once you own one.

@thomashui87 I have the sport Alcantara seats and have been very happy with them. I've had leather in the past in other vehicles, and the only difference I'm noticing is how they grip. You really feel strapped in and supported in the cockpit. You don't get the "luxury" feel and smell of leather obviously, but this is a true GT car and I love the tight bolstering. If I were you I'd look around local Lexus dealers and drive some used examples with different seats, could be helpful.

Of course on the track you couldn’t get away from how heavy this car is especially on corner turn in. If you were too fast the understeer was quite noticeable. I hesitated to watch this video because I went with another car. I looked at the LC, Cayman GTS 4.0, and a base 992. I already have two other toy cars so this purchase needed to be something with daily drive practicality and way above average driving experience. Found it difficult to drive one, it was easier to drive 992's than the LC. Some of that is how the local Lexus dealers view the "exclusivity" of their cars where driving a 100K car for them is a big deal. My local Porsche dealer regularly handed me keys to 150k Carrera S's...100k is low/average for those guys. I ultimately went with the base Carrera which should be arriving in a week or so. Finding that someone who knows what they are talking about and has daily driving experience with a vehicle I'm considering has given me much more confidence in my decision.

Long ago I watched your first LC500 video, and as a result I have long eyed these cars. They seem attainable to normal middle-class people, especially given Lexus reliability and the availability of used examples. My mother is near retirement and wants to go out with a bang--some kind of V8 two door vehicle. A new Mustang GT is the likely possibility. But she loves how these cars look, and hey I'd rather have a 5 year old LC500 than a brand-new Mustang GT. They'll have to get under $50k used for that pipe dream to happen, and realistic concerns like that caught my ear when you talked about increasing insurance rates. I had no idea these cars have fancypants trunk lids and doors. Hopefully they cheapen up used. And hopefully them cheapening up used doesn't result in people crashing them and pushing those insurance rates further up.
