That wood trim IS real wood covered in deep lacquer and is made by Yamaha ( the musical instrument division not the motor cycles!) for Lexus

Now it almost seems a shame to cover it up, lol. At least vinyl is removeable.

Excellent vid!! Especially the bit about the only two connectors that could get mixed up!!!! That sorted my hazards and airbag warning light!!!! The sound is AWESOME!!! One thing though....only the FRONT speakers are working for me (...yet the balance/fader are in the middle....), any thoughts or theories on that?

Thanks so much! I'm glad it helped out. It was an old video, but it's useful lol. I did have a similar issue... I'm trying to remember. I think the way it's wired is that the balance/fader remains useless. All speakers are running through the front L/R channels only, but all speakers are working. Check 23:15 in the video. It kind of touches on this, but it isn't vividly clear. If I remember more, I'll update. It is possible that you missed something in the wiring too, but this issue sounds like the bit of confusion I had, even though it was correct. Good luck

Hey I’m having an issue with the ac controls its down below but when I click it it won’t adjust or even turn on the screen is nice but that’s my issue

Did you hook up all of the harness plugs correctly? You may also have the wrong harness for your version car. You have to specify to the seller which variant your OEM info center was. They, typically, ask for a photo because buyers do not understand. If you had navigation, it may be far different than if you had a simple knob without display. I believe they told me there are even variants for the navigation system tiers. If that isn't the issue, it's software based. You may have to reach out to the seller to update the firmware. They'll provide you steps via a USB/SD input. You could try factory resetting the unit. The last thing I can think of is to adjust the AC controls deep inside the factory menu. I know that I did this once. I was changing settings, and I accidentally removed the AC software. I had to go back in and swap the settings back. My apologies, but I am out of the country, and I won't have access to that car for a while. Therefore, I cannot check myself. However, if you're comfortable with technical work and software, you can dive into it yourself. Different variants of the car will have different CANBUS protocols. You can experiment by swapping and rebooting, if you can access them on your particular model. Ultimately, I'd reach out to Phoenix, they'll solve this for you.

Hey, it's actually posted in the description, but no worries. I recommend the highest RAM/ROM configuration you can get. At the moment, it appears to be 8GB/128GB. Yes, the hazards work. Your car may require a "T" harness to go between and connect this. That would be taken up with the seller pending your tier system. However, if you look at 10:00 or so on the video you'll see there are only two plugs that are able to be mixed up. They both fit into one of the ports. It's possible you have the wrong one plugged in. One of the two is the hazard/airbag light plug. Last scenario, you trace back that wire with a multimeter and see if there is any continuity/break/voltage drop/etc. You may also see other options to splice if necessary.

The only way to do that is to contact the seller of your device. If you bought it 3rd party, you can try to source the manufacturer and reach out to them.

i can't believe the trouble and expense; and then that mark lev pos amp, my pos lexus has it in the trunk, in a hole withno ventilationand exposed to road water!! wiil break down and it costs 3 grand, so, most do without ANY kind of radio for the life of the car

I don't know anyone with this car that doesn't have a working sound system, so I'll have to agree to disagree with the "most," lol. There are many options to upgrade, fix, or adapt what's there, even with broken components. If you attempt to replace old equipment with the exact same OEM stuff, especially old rare equipment like ML units which is highly ill advised, then you will be paying insane amounts. No one in their right mind would do that though... If you're adamant about OEM only, your best bet is a junkyard or eBay. KZread is better than university now days, you can pretty much learn to do anything, especially something this simple. This would be easy to solve with a little effort. For example, I'm even constructing a time machine, all from KZread quantum mechanics videos! 🤣 If you do have the ML system, you will actually have a center speaker under that dash grill (many do not). You don't need the center channel though. You can suffice with left/right doors only, and it'll sound decent. I would definitely not replace the amp with the same one, if the old one is fried (test it). Also amps are usually vented to cool, but have one way valves for the air/water seal. Relocate the new amp if that old location is compromised, or seal that and create a more efficient breather port. You can get a normal multi-channel amp and replace that one for probably less than $100 if you really don't care about name and brand. You can even do a simple 4 channel amp and just connect multiple speakers per channel. That's not ideal, but if budget is the issue, that would give a sufficient stereo. Just find the output specs of the OEM amp, and do your best to match it. Or, calculate how many speakers, their specs, and go from there. This is from memory, do not quote me. The OEM system in the IS250 had 3 way component speakers in each 4 doors (I think all 4ohm) and then an 8" woofer in the rear deck (the part above/behind the rear seats). The speakers are hovering around 25W (maybe marked on the rear deck ones), so you can reference amps with that in mind. The woofer maybe 35W. 13 speakers total, but components will be wired together. The ML system (may be 8ohm, unsure) had 3 speakers in the front doors, 2 in the rear doors, 2 speakers in the rear deck, 1 in the front center dash grill (center channel), and woofer (I cannot remember where). The crossover is also built into the amp (I think). Therefore, if you're only getting high frequencies, no low... it could be that. If you're replacing the head unit, with this one or another, then you can just use the built in amplifier of that to power most of your speakers. Usually those are 40+ W per channel. You can get by with splicing the 4 doors in, right at your head unit. I don't remember much about the ML woofer. You MAY be able to do a tiny amp of its own to power that and make it prominent, but that will require matching the specs. If your new stuff is too powerful or mismatched, it could damage the equipment. You could utilize the wiring from the burnt out ML amp, if that's what you're going for. To fix a stereo system is probably one of the easiest theoretical things to do, but it may require a lot of busy work to access things. You likely can trace wiring back and make connections without removing much. If I had that scenario, I'd replace the head unit with something like this one. Nearly all amps or sound processors will not support true center channels without spending a LOT. Therefore, I'd wire the center to a left and right connection to create a pseudo center channel, that or leave it disconnected. Try approaching problems with a positive mindset. Even brand new cars break or have detrimental defects. This is an old car, it's a solid old car, at that. There are worse things in life. This can be fixed. Good luck

Hey, this video is a good reference to install this. I'm not sure what else you're looking for. You can turn on "cc" to view the subtitles. Then, go to the settings menu, select "subtitles," and choose "auto translate" to select Dutch, German, or whichever language, if that's any easier for you. If you have specific questions, you can reply here, and I will do my best to answer them.

Did you use the factory camera?

Hey, yes I did. It's still quite a bit sharper than most generic backup cameras. It requires splicing to get it to function.

Does this fits a 2013 is250?

This particular model does not. However, you can try contacting Phoenix to see if they have one for your car. Glancing at their website, it appears they may not. However, maybe I missed it or they have one in the works.
