I am really happy to see the re-imagined items like black denim. An item that people dyed at the time but Levi's didn't manufacture. This opens a new world for future lookbooks.

Just discovered your channel, and I very much enjoyed this video! I personally fall somewhere inbetween the 2 groups you described. I never actually got into LVC because while very cool I just never saw myself wearing a lot of the bolder pieces while the more paired back ones i found at a better value from other brands. Being into workwear and Americana while also liking stuff like ALD and more 90s/skater/sneakers/retro sportswear is an interesting challenge. You want to look like a 1950s dockworker, someone in the background of a 90s tv show or a Japanese hiker from the 70s but at the same time avoid looking like a fool you know?

I liked the old LVC lines but I'm a huge fan of the new ones. The way I see it, there are so many manufacturers that make vintage styled denim products that are on equal footing to Levi's quality that there's not really a need for Levi's to routinely release type Is, type IIs and 501s annually. It's really neat to see specific fashions from periods of time resurrected by Levi's, because no one else is focusing on doing that regularly. I'd love to see them take inspiration from the beatniks in the 50's or the folk movement of the 60's in future seasons.

Exactly, even companies that do a really good job at repros like Sugar Cane or Bronson often miss the mark too, the fits are usually way off but the details are there. What Levi's is doing is actually cutting the fabric in a way that's true to what it was back then. For example, the 1947 sugar cane 501 repros are not nearly slim enough in the top block, or the 44801 Bronson 501 repros are way too wide, like ridiculously wide.

Either way, I do love hearing about the history. I just watched a video of these guy's that found a few pairs of pre-1880's Levi's in a mine in Arizona. I'm going to Arizona in a few weeks so maybe I'll find some on the golf course, wish me luck.

That's a bit "clickbaity" tbh. All LVC has done is to validate and endorse 2 specific eras of clothing style: the 80's and the 90's. Given most raw denim wearers weren't born in the 50's, I'd say good job done: 1. Respect a specific fashion era. 2. Appeal to to an audience. How is that losing integrity? You did after all wet your pants over a made in Bangladesh Barbour and debunk stretch denim... Good job either way imho.
