The 54 cut has a slight taper. It’s intentional and the fit of the time.

I have Japanese, Turkish and American LVC 501’s. In my experienced opinion Turkish denim is the winner for sure. It looks and feels exactly as my 70’s original 501’s I have.

nice review. definitely agree with you on the weight and feel of the denim. i was surprised at how lightweight and soft it felt. but i do like the slimmer cut.

I got mine rough rinse off grailed. I love the fit and all. But yeah. I am glad I paid $90. As a child I preferred wranglers. Levi fit was always great. They just never held up. Same issue with mine. The back pocket stitch is not holding up. The talon zipper(never had good luck with talon) was failing, never held up. Had to use a keychain ring to hold it up. It broke while I was i rome at the sistine chapel. Luckily it was my last day in Rome. Had to replace it with ykk. Unfortunately, the point of this is to keep original hardware. But yeah I gained weight and was coming from size 30 N&F and Baldwin which I got at a player price. At that time Baldwin was getting ruined by a stakeholder who ousted the owners and tried to make it into a premium mall brand. But that info was not public. (Random people who were probably connected to the company) . Were basically doing a clearance on ebay. I said all that to make the point that LVC was supposed to be a step up from NF and should have been at least on par with Baldwin, but of course Levi’s did their thing where they crap out on quality. God bless you if you pay full retail for any levi. However, I do love the jeans. Love the twisted leg. Love the fit. And appreciate the zipper. It is a nice deviation from the buttonfly us denimheads are used to.

If you lay the jeans flat and they measure 18", wouldn't that mean a 36 waist? Also, the 1954 is in fact a tapered fit! They are probably a bit more like the orange tab 615, which is tapered and has a zipper.

Yes that is correct 18" across will be 36 inches. I am not familiar with 615 style but 1954 lvc definitely look like a tapered not straight. I do have quick fit video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hHiEmq6Rhcq_iZM.html

i think the cone mills version was a lot better i ahve 1966 cone mills love it but wish the leg opening was like 1954
