Mario maker fan here. I love grinding hard levels there but i must admit it makes me loose years of life trying to surpass some hard and troll levels there. This game looks neat but i just need to decide if i'm ready to have another game kicking my butt all the time. xD Sounds weird but there's something fun in being able to finally defeat a troll level or a super hard level after hours of dying on the same spots. xD

I've been loving the world maker update. The only thing I'm not in love with is the overhead map of the worlds. Looks off to me but really the only thing I can complain about. Inspired me to do some creations which I haven't done on 2 only tried on the original. Being stuck in doors sucks less with Mario Maker.

Mario Maker 2 was my favorite game on Switch until this came out. I've had way more fun with this game than Mario Maker 2, not just with the gameplay. The editor is just as simple but far more powerful. And unlike Mario Maker 2, you can be sure your level gets played with its clever Marketing Department.

@@SwitchCorner I feel like if the camera reset instead That would lead to more problems like making dying helpful, messing up the speedrun mode and levels in which you have to die. You could say that thy would remove this from the story mode but have rules change for may lead to frustration and people assuming that it's a glitch or a mechanic that they aren't grasping.

It really shouldn't need to compete with Mario Maker 2, as fans of Mario Maker would have loved to have a new game mode added. Well, Levelhead can be that game mode. The editor is familiar enough that you can dive right in. In other words: if you like Mario Maker, you should also like this, and why not have both?

Ironically, I always watch reviews after playing the game. Same with this review and most of your points are correct so good job. Also, I'm REALLY enjoying this game so far! It's as good, or even better then mario maker. I've found so many creative levels that would never be possible in smm due to levelheads complex switch system. I would say this is smm for pros, but as a noob at platformers myself, I'd say that I found all kinds of levels that range from extremely difficult to beginner friendly! I'm surprised at so good this is for a low budget indie title! It's super cheap and on gamepass! (For the moment.) I have so little complaints (Besides the campaign) that I wouldn't care if they don't continue to support it!

  • @hydrochloric007

Also, this game doesn't have a big enough fanbase as it should be due to a lack of advertising and it being a obscure indie title. This isn't the devs fault at all and I think this game isn't known enough to have a big community. I have a feeling that a lot of mario maker yts would love this game! So if you love this game as much as I do and have a mario maker youtuber like ryukahr or dgr and want them to play levelhead, maybe comment on their vids as a recommendation to play this. Maybe that could make this game more popular! As a sidenote: Please do not spam people with this at all. It's very annoying and could discourage them from playing this hidden gem!

@@hydrochloric007 it's got a decent fanbase. there's over 75,000 user levels made already. it definitely deserves a bigger fanbase though! unfortunately, it seems like even though a lot of MM2 players/streamers would love this game, most are too stuck on Mario and won't give LevelHead a shot.

Got the game when it was in early acces, and honestly have to agree with a lot of the points you made. The difficuly, while usually consistently on the curve, spikes hugely in levels such as "That's an Incredible GR-18", to the point where they had to nerf the level three times before 1.0. Also, the Marketing Department is based off of plays, not likes, which does sometimes mean you get garbage levels that make it to the tower. Overall, you did a great job with this video I would say. I love Mario Maker 2 & LevelHead. I think LevelHead deserves much more love than it actually gets. Both Mario Maker 2 & LevelHead have very hard user made levels. I mostly just play levels and usually play the creators own adventure/story mode levels. I got to the desert world in levelhead when buzz saws chase you and you have to speed run perfectly. That’s when I gave up and took a break. I think it’s time to go back. I Loved LEVELHEAD and I really think it’s up there with some of the best indie 2D Platformers like Freedom Planet 1 & 2, Kaze and the Wild Masks, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and Runbow. There aren’t a ton of really well made indie 2D Platformers. LevelHead is really incredible. Super Mario Maker 2 isn’t the only maker in town! I wish people actually made quality levels. It might just be me but I can’t find any as good as in the adventure mode where the creators of the game also made good pro levels. There are way too many troll levels and gimmicky levels. There needs to be level testers and approval certification for maker games otherwise I just don’t know. But if you are into Mario Maker or just 2D Platformers check out LevelHead. It’s a real hidden gem. Let’s hope they make a 2D platformer series based off LevelHead. Just trust me. It’s really good! This isn’t a “Budget” Mario Maker! Yes it’s a 2D platformer Maker and Yes it costs less than Super Mario Maker 2 but it’s not Budget in quality. LevelHead has just as much depth if not more than Super Mario Maker 2. This game is close to being a 2D Platformer Masterpiece!!!! If anyone knows of any other indie 2D Platformers I’d love to check out. LevelHead is just Great!

@@TimConceivable agree to disagree. Mario 3 is the only style that has a slippery feeling I could maybe agree with. The rest are super tight. You can vary jump heights. Change directions in the air. Not to mention spin jumps in the air to reach further distances. Quick or longer button presses to change height or distance of jumps. Wall jumps. Bouncing on enemies to get higher. Just a master class in Platforming. It's not a surprise that every other mascot platformer has taken parts of Mario and done them less successful. Sonic, Crash, Croc, Bubsy and tons others wish they can feel like Mario. Check out Grand Poo Bear on KZread. Dude has crazy skill and shows how he's a master of the move set.
