    Solid video! Only thing I personally do differently, I put the riser level up by the top limb pocket for two reasons for 3rd axis: 1. The farther away it is, the more accurate the levels will be. 2. When you’re shooting, your arrow will follow your top limb, so if you’re making the levels match those points, you’ll have the most accurate 3rd axis possible.

    Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought that you are suppose to set the 3rd axis while holding the bow at full draw and pointing steep uphill or steep downhill instead of a hooter shooter because everyone puts different amounts of torque on their bow.

    I would say your correct. But the shop sets and gets it close for you. You should be leveling to your torque. I have seen where at full draw you level to a vertical string.

    Love your instructional vids. I do have a question. I see a lot of videos leveling the sight to the string? I get you want to bow level left to right and front to back. However, the cams could be shimmed making the string off from level to the riser making it run left or right of the riser. It is tough to find flat spots on a riser but I use the same method as you with the exception that if the string is not level left to right to the riser, I will use the top part of the riser or the best flat spot I can find. I set the rough third axis with the bow tilted but not drawn. Next, I draw it back with the levels attached and see if they line up. I find if you do not torque the riser with your grip it matches up perfectly with the static measurement.

On top of all that they didn't even set the 3rd axis, pretty sure they've never even done it before. Keep in mind that this shop has been open for 35 years. Pats archery in okmulgee ok

    Some of the torque will be inherent to the bow control system (archer ! ) not the bow itself, when you mount it to the riser it needs to still match the already set bubbles (which is, I think what you meant about finding the suitable attachment point)

    Have you tried the OMP Axis sight leveler yet? It’s super easy to use especially since you have the OMP vice. On modern bows with stiff risers how much difference does it make setting up third axis at full draw compared to using the OMP axis sight leveler?

  • @stickboy9475
    @stickboy94756 ай бұрын

    Probably too old to add a comment, but i'll try. NOT ARGUING, just asking. isn't the first axis that you demonstrate on the same plane as the 2nd axis? I see the validity of doing this to ensure the bar is level before you ensure your sight/scope is level but it seems to my small brain that the 1st axis would actually be leveled by placing the tool perpendicular to how you displayed it, i.e. along the sight bar itself. I'm not sure of a need for that, so maybe the 1st axis doesn't need to be leveled? or maybe i'm off bubble in my thinking. I enjoy the videos and appreciate your time.

    If your string is not level with your riser to begin with and you level the sight based on the string. When you attach the Hamskea to the riser to check 3rd axis, will this ultimately throw things off?

  • @WM-jy9dz

    good pick up - that's why some archers use a vertical line (needs to be checked that it is really vertical, you can use an edge from a corner etc.), aiming at this line (full draw!) and moving the pin up and down this vertical line and check that the bubble doesn't move to the left or the right. At least that is how I adjust / check the 3. axis. Eta: forgot to mention that you still need a second bubble on the sight close to the riser you have referenced before.

    I have the HHA tetra tournament with 2nd and 3rd axis adjustment ( single pin slider ) . I don’t understand how they expect You to set second and third axis correctly if there’s no way to adjust first axis ? And first axis is definitely not in sync with my bowstring in level position or riser . How are you supposed to set this sight correctly ? See a lot of people using a 4’ carpenter level over the riser in lieu of leveling the string? Is there an advantage of leveling the sting vs. the riser? Your using the riser at full draw to level the 3rd axis? Also the Hamskea level has a pointer that is usually used with a vertical string, how is that done on a hooter shooter?

    @@billstiger2359 string for 1st and 2nd. Level on riser will work for 3rd. I'd use the same side that sight is mounted to. The riser is what will be torqued by the cables or your form when shooting uphill or downhill. leveling the third axis only verifies that scope and bubble are at 90 degrees to the riser. more or less than 90 degrees will show false torque.

Im setting up a new Ventum 30 and all my axis have been checked at my pro shop, i've watched it get done twice but for some reason my pin still looks like its cocked to the left although so far everything seems like its on the money. This always gives me a headache lol. Can someone please explain why the first axis (bowstring and sight are aligned) is set while the bow is static? If the riser torques when it’s drawn and the sight is attached to that riser, won’t that throw things off versus the reading I get on a static bow? It seems everything should be set when the bow is drawn (torqued) versus sitting in a vice.

  • @InsideOutPrecision

    @InsideOutPrecision

    If the bow and string are perfectly vertical, the first and second axis aren't effected by torque. If you could keep the bow perfectly vertical you could make it do a 360 and the levels wouldn't move

  • @d500mag2

    @d500mag2

    2 жыл бұрын

    1st and second are set to string so that when you are shooting your bow, the sight bubble will show that your string is vertical. 1st and 2nd axis keep a shooter from canting the string. 3rd axis is set to riser to remove false torque when shooting up or down an incline(ex up in a tree shooting down). False torque comes from sight not being perpendicular to to riser.

    This video is like 3 years old. The first axis is how the sight rail is level relative to the bow when the string is perfectly vertical. Then you match the second axis (the sight level) to the leveled. First axis. Then, with a level on the riser of the bow, still leveled so that all are matching, you put it in the draw board and set the third axis to match the level on the riser st full draw. Thanks for telling me what I don’t know though! Very informative.
