I did years ago after watching a filthy fat slob hostess devour 3 trays of meals and 5 Magnum icecreams on its 45min break on a Perth to Melbourne flight 6yrs ago. It was morbidly grossly obese and couldn't walk straight down the aisles. It had to waddle sideways. So in the event of an evacuation it would of hindered my escape.

There's a lot of lead time but the aircraft is only out of service for 24 hours I'm assuming. Regardless it is a weasily way for QANTAS to dodge the essence of the question.

As someone who works in middle management in corporate Australia the ineptitude and pathetic display by QANTAS executive leadership is just mind blowing by people earning hundreds of thousands a year more than I and most Australians... I'm not sure your analogy is completely accurate but at least the questions are being asked and the public made aware. The government of the day controls the legal system unfortunately. I can't believe what I am observing. Since when is it OK to turn up at Senate inquiries totally and utterly unprepared considering that they would be on sizeable remuneration? Normally in the private sector the standard should be much higher, and the shareholders should not tolerate incompetence.. It appears that corporate management standards and ethics has declined sharply over the past couple of decades.

Absolutely brilliant questioning by the Madam chair of this Senate inquiry. Corporate Australia please take notice - do not endorse 'Political positions'. Best to remain apolitical. Always. It comes across as ramming a political position onto people. Otherwise you risk losing the support of your employees, stakeholders and importantly customers! Further this shows an enormous political naivety by the Qantas Executive team and surprisingly an experienced Board of Directors. Always best for Corporate Australia to remain apolitical. Australians want to fly to their destinations in safety with a minimum of fuss and not have Political messages thrust onto them.
