Every time I think I'm a bit bored for now of hearing Love Games I hear a new early live performance and have to think again. Stella, these boys are way beyond that...Kronenbourg, Lowenbrau and beyond. Bloody amazing.

Only Mark King can play bass like that, sing and chew gum all at once.

The fruit pastel is attached to his right thumb isn't it. He takes a sneaky suck in between solos.

There's been many great drummers in the band but I think that Phil Gould really does the job with his simple but relentlessly bombastic drum work. Classic :)

This is the finest rendition of 'Love Games' by the band I have ever seen! Everything about it is sheer perfection! You have Mikes stellar keyboard work and raw energy. Boons superb guitar playing, Phil Gould on drums surely one of the UK's finest groovers , I place Phil in the same league as the late great Jeff Porcaro and of course the simply epic bass playing of Mark King. What more can be said about the guy..he is simply amazing! That JD Bass sound...holy moly! 42 were about as tight as a band could possibly be in those days.

Was lucky to to have been around (and involved in the jazz-funk music scene) when L42, Shakatak and a load of other Brit-Funk artists and bands exploded onto the scene. Saw both these and Shakatak, not to mention David Sanborn, Marcus Miller and a shed-load of others on numerous occasions. Seriously fab days!!!

I want to point out that naughty Mark King changes up the lyrics a bit (starting at 6:40) by singing (instead of "if you won't show your heart to me, set me free") "if you won't show your tits to me, set me free!" Hilarious! Maybe because everyone in the audience was German he thought they wouldn't catch that, and they probably didn't. But this Mark King fanatic sure did.

Incredible performance... Notice that Mark K. is so high on adrenaline that he sings "TITS" in stead of "heart" at =06:41 😀
