I actually took printing in the 8th grade back in 1964. That mechanical inking plate brings back a ton of memories. What a difference 50 years make.

Royal blue (my favorite color)
beautiful. very pleasing. I saw similar printing press, in 1980 in our small town. I used to be very impressed with its working & loved it.👍 Nostalgic.

I love mechanical machines (vs electronic machines) that always have such brilliant ways to get stuff done when people couldn’t just program a chip to do the job. Don’t get me wrong, I love tech but the repairable and ingenious mechanisms used on these machines is so impressive.

10 years ago we were still using letterpress for certain more bespoke jobs. I miss the smells and noises of a print room.
I would so over into that thing. It is amazing how far just a little bit of think it goes. So unbelievably satisfying.

I learned letterpress in high school (class of 76)
My grandfather in 1950 traveled to Germany and bought a Heidelberg automatic. He brought it by boat to Argentina. To this day my father still has it. I worked with him for 5 years. So nostalgic watching this video.

With that much ink, probably one or a couple hundred, depending on how much surface area is used. Just a rough guestimation.

Howard averages pulling the printing press handle a total of 17 times. The most I've seen is 21. This is how much I watch Howard.

There are no plates on a letterpress. It's called a chase.
