Thank you for creating a platform to learn about this! It’s soooo important. I also had my implant removed ,after having it for a year and a half and trust me I literally RAN! to the doctors office to have it removed! Yoh , I had the continuous bleeding and spotting , the weight gain , Sjoe mood swings were awful and it got so much to a point where I’d cry myself to sleep every night ! --I did my research on this and I found out that some women started having suicidal thoughts and depression. Also never felt like I wanted to be intimate with my partner Now that I’m implant free My moods are more stable Weight is more stable as well ,lost a little bit. But now I’m expecting 🤣 was planned though so it’s okay .

Loved everything about this video. It's always best to hear these kind of things from people that have experienced them, because someone out there is going through the same and wondering "could it be this?" Everyone obviously reacts differently but I believe it's a conversation that needs to be had more than it actually is. Thank you for sharing. Very sorry for your experience. Making choices about and for our bodies as women is the most important thing. Other people won’t feel how you feel on certain things but you. Wishing you speed recovery both mentally physically and emotionally. You’re a brave girl. Unfortunately, I never used contraceptives, but I heard so many stories especially from the side effect side. I however had an ovarian cyst whereby doctors wanted to prescribe me contraceptives apparently to dry it out but then the abnormal bleeding that comes with contraceptives, I ran away from the doctor rooms that day.

I’ve been on the patch for 4 months now and I love it so far. For someone who struggles a lot to eat, with the patch, my appetite is now normal. All I have to do is maintain my weight. I haven’t experienced any side effects YET so far and the good thing about the patch is you get to decide if you want your period or not. Main reason I went on the patch was because I haven’t been in the mood for periods lately😂 love it!

I was considering the implant so this talk was needed. I was on the pill (can't remember the name exactly) but it was so much admin and my boobs would swell up so much and they hurt to the point where I only wore baggy shirts and only slept on my back so I left it. I decided to try the injection and my mom told me to go for Nuristerate instead of Depo provera and it worked for me, I had no bleeding, no nausea, no mood swings, no weight gain, no side effects really. But it only last for 8 weeks so the repetitive process isn't convenient. Guess I still need to do some research on which works best for me
@uetuukiekarumendu947410 ай бұрын
I had it for like 6 months and for me it was the bleeding non stop ,i vividly remember that the longest time I stopped bleeding for that period of 6 months was for a week long only,I was forever on my period Taimi😢😢 The headaches, backaches, always feeling like vomiting,I remember i used to cry alot aswell and my body wouldn't feel normal 😢😢it was such a painful experience emotionally, physically and physiologically..Imagine having to be on your period for all those months😢And I just had to give up and get it removed because i felt like it is not safe or healthy being on a contraceptive that you clearly see / feel that it's damaging your body. I enjoyed thank you for sharing your experience Taimi❤

I also removed mine before the 5 years were up, the longer period days were just getting to me ,I’d also bleed for like 2 weeks ouw and my libido had decreased🙈, I didn’t gain weight though and my emotions were okay , but yeah some people dont experience the side effects but overall I liked the convenience of it .. and as soon as it’s out, you’re back to your normal self again and can jump right into conceiving if you’re looking into having kids..unlike some contraceptives that take long to live the body

This video was really insightful and I wish it was even longer bc no one talks about this. Also there are different types of implants and they have different ingredients I believe and levels of hormones (speaking under correction). The one I’m on is the Levoplant and it has a duration of about 3 years. Ive also experienced weight gain and my periods rarely come (honestly not even complaining), mild acne and my doctor would always ask me to either exercise patience and allow my body to adjust or he could administer something to balance my hormones out. So it’s also important to consult with your doctor especially if you feel something is not right. All in all great video, I hope we can have this conversation again. 💋

Thank you so much for this informative big sister chat Taimi❤️ I’ve had the implant for 6 years now. Got my first in 2017 which lasted 3 years. Got a second one immediately after, in 2020. My first month was hard. Occasional Spotting then sporadic bleeding for a full month or more. The headaches, high appetite and constant feelings of sadness were high and lasted a year and some months. Eventually it got easier, I guess I stayed optimistic because I couldn’t see myself choosing the pill over it(I’m forgetful) although I was not active during that first year, I just wanted to remain protected and be proactive. … fast forward, I’m finally due for my 3 year mark removal and I’m happy to announce the implant and I are over😂 it’s been great but I’m considering the IUD now after 6 months or so. So glad you listened to your body! You’ve got this❤❤

This video is very insightful, thank you Taimi. When I approached my gynecologist with the idea of contraceptives, he recommended the Copper IUD. It has no hormones. I have been on it for 4 years now and been loving it. The only side effects I have experienced are prolonged periods, heavier periods and extreme painful cramps during your menstrual cycle. Other than that it definitely works for me. They would recommend that every once a year you go in so they ensure that it is still well fitted and it hasn’t shifted.

I agree with the injections , it’s a no ,no for me. I tried both the 2 and 3 months injections . I experienced most of the symptoms you just mentioned . On days I was not on my periods, I would be spotting 😭😭 I didn’t experience the weight gain , I’m thinking it’s because I have high metabolism, I don’t easily gain. So I changed to contraceptive pills and it’s honestly way better. My advice is if you want to start using contraceptive pills it should contain both the estrogen and progesterone hormone and not progesterone alone.

I had an implant for 3 years, side effects were horrible, i had headaches, mood swings, acne, i was spotting the 1st months and later on started skipping. I gained weight and started hating on my body....talking about removal after 3 years one broke and the cut was too deep for them to remove that piece 😢. I am a health care worker but i don't advice anyone to have this ah ah ah. This is something we shy away to talk about because we are scared to be judged that oooh that one is on contraceptives. I’ve been on the injection for 1 year and couple of months and hunnies I GAINED SO MUCH!! I already am a foodie so I literally became overweight and started having some health issues because of my weight. I’ve been off the injection for almost 3 years now I believe but my period is still unstable the weight has naturally been reducing I’m happy about that. Also during the time I was on contraceptives my moods been weird and stuff. Right now what I do is simply abstain. Best decision ever. Y’all should try it😂😂🙈 Never going back to contraceptives! It comes with Too much baggage for me to carry.

Guess I still need to do some research on which works best for me
I had it for like 6 months and for me it was the bleeding non stop ,i vividly remember that the longest time I stopped bleeding for that period of 6 months was for a week long only,I was forever on my period Taimi😢😢 The headaches, backaches, always feeling like vomiting,I remember i used to cry alot aswell and my body wouldn't feel normal 😢😢it was such a painful experience emotionally, physically and physiologically..Imagine having to be on your period for all those months😢And I just had to give up and get it removed because i felt like it is not safe or healthy being on a contraceptive that you clearly see / feel that it's damaging your body. I enjoyed thank you for sharing your experience Taimi❤

@@taiminuunyango I’m still trying to find a new contraceptive but I’m so far Leaning on the patch..

Hi there 😊, where at the state can I get CUID, clinic? Do I need to book?
This video is very insightful, thank you Taimi. When I approached my gynecologist with the idea of contraceptives, he recommended the Copper IUD. It has no hormones. I have been on it for 4 years now and been loving it. The only side effects I have experienced are prolonged periods, heavier periods and extreme painful cramps during your menstrual cycle. Other than that it definitely works for me. They would recommend that every once a year you go in so they ensure that it is still well fitted and it hasn’t shifted.

Thanks Taimi for sharing this vid...🤗 I thought removal is painful but no. I'm going to remove mine next month, have the one for 5 years. I didn't experience so many complications throughout, only side effects for the first two months then everything got back to normal till today. My question is can I get the implant soon after removal?
Wondering if this is not painful 🤔🤔 , Anyway the video is so educative girl , you are so open and is so encouraging. Keep it this way Taimi 💞💞

I am glad you are okay 🥺🤍🤍
i prefer IUD the plastic one, ur periods days wont change, it doesn't confuse your hormone ,if u want to have a babe u can just remove it and fall pregnant the same months' "there is no waiting period like when u are using other contraceptive like pills . u can use it even if u doent have medical aid
Hi Taimi. Glad you creted this platform to talk about this very important topic. I would want to know, were the periods heavy flow or they were normal flow but for a very lengthy period of time?

Sharing such content must have taken so much courage, which I very much appreciate . With all the cons associated with contraception, I’ll most probably always stand on the opposing side. But again knowledge is power- and I have indeed learned a thing from this video, and would definitely refer my ladies seeking advice/info related to the shared content. Thank you for the video Taimi. 🙏🏻♥️

It really really did I felt so uncomfortable but also I felt the conversation needed to be had and I want to believe this is a safe space 🥺❤️
Big sister talk. Im so proud of you nghelo. You did what you had to do. Sanity comes first. Personally I'm scared to take contraceptives because I cant afford to gain heavy weight😭 Also, the side effects scare me so much. Speedy recovery sissy. Thank you for the lovely video❤

Thank you for watching and engaging 🥰🥰🤍 sis and I am well posted this a month later 😆
Tangi Taimi nkelo 👏👏👏👏👏

Ouh wow 🥺 their actually preventive measures babes but you are welcome 🥰🥰
I’ve been on the injection for 1 year and couple of months and hunnies I GAINED SO MUCH!! I already am a foodie so I literally became overweight and started having some health issues because of my weight. I’ve been off the injection for almost 3 years now I believe but my period is still unstable the weight has naturally been reducing I’m happy about that. Also during the time I was on contraceptives my moods been weird and stuff. Right now what I do is simply abstain. Best decision ever. Y’all should try it😂😂🙈 Never going back to contraceptives! It comes with Too much baggage for me to carry.

My experience with implant isn't bad. Not weight gain, no abnormal bleeding, no moodswings neither, so i completed my 3 years and decided to put in another 1 for 3 years again and so far it has been 11 months now and we still good... havent experience anything disturbing

I have a non hormonal IUD for 4years now with zero issues. I gained 6Kgs over the years but I do not attribute this increase to the IUD. I managed to loose the weight within two months of having one meal a day this year, it works. All the best❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
