After overloading Heimdall's senses, Kratos got an opening to attack in close combat. With each round he tries to attack, you notice his attacks become more focused and fluid. It shows Kratos's skill as a warrior that lets him gauge Heimdall's reactions and skills. You see how Heimdall tried to shield the attack using his right arm during the 2nd round. That's why in the 3rd round, Kratos's punches made sure that when Heimdall went to protect his right, Kratos would grab that arm immediately, which let Kratos the chance to finally land the blow on Heimdall.

Each of Kratos' flurries of attacks against Heimdall had an express purpose. 23:30 Round 1: Gauge Heimdall's reaction speed. 23:50 Round 2: Knowing how fast he moves, Kratos now speeds up to pressure him into actually blocking an attack. 25:22 Round 3: Knowing how he will block, he baits him in with the same attack but this time delivering a mean right hook to the kisser. Heimdall's weakness is that relies on his powers TOO much. Leading to him not really knowing what to do when his powers just aren't cutting it. In Odin's words, "Sometimes he just forgets to THINK." Its possible Kratos was trying to get a feel on how to attack heimdall. Starting slow to see how fast he can dodge his moves and then picking up the pace once he understands how heimdall moves. Since in the second flurry Heimdall actually blocked it while in the third he's actually hit. As at that point Kratos understands his opponents movement and how to efficiently counter especially since he grabbed Heimdall when the Aseir tried to block the punch again.

  • Жыл бұрын

Actually if you took a notice, the game actually slow down on Heimdall bracelet blocks, which that's what KRATOS learn and he used the same punching style again on the 3rd time. HOWEVER, learning Heimdall is shit in MMA, Kratos just grab his one pony block, which is his blocking arm and punch him.

@@the_infinexos That's not the case at all, Kratos knows that there's a difference between being able to foresee a fight's outcome and actually DELIVER on that outcome in your favor, Kratos has the training of a warrior while Heimdall is hardly a warrior at all, he became complacent with his ability to see his opponent's moves but that doesn't make you by any stretch of the imagination a warrior and it was an exploit that Kratos used to his advantage just like when the gods he fought in his past all became complacent with their abilities that they hardly could be seen as warriors anymore, Kratos was still a warrior at heart and he fought like one. Plus, you have to consider that Heimdall was ACTIVELY trying to piss Kratos off during the entire fight especially when he brought up that he was going to beat up Atreus, Kratos already lost ONE child by his own hands he wasn't about to lose a second child which is why at the end of the fight Kratos is literally the old Kratos back in Greece, even Mimir was trying to calm him down at that point but we've seen Kratos like that before and there's very little that can stop him when he's at that stage of rage.

Kratos is a spartan soldier ascended to god levels. so in terms of war tactics and combat he is probably the most terrifying force to any god that dares to face him. Remember that Kratos was also holding back against Thor. and at the brief moment he actually tapped into his older rage mode. Thor lost a teeth imediatelly.

Seeing him looking at his face on the mirror with his face has a terrified expression, it made me felt a manical joy inside in me, knowing even he didn't died, he realized that he lost his "invincible and unmatched God" status he uphold and believed up until he feared for the first time in his life, that someone coul be able to destroy him, completely. That and this scene is so far that made me felt that joy of being able to see how those jerks, who saw themself over everyone around them and had a God complex personality, reacted when their so dear status has collepsed right front of in their eyes. Its just so satisfying, that i cannot fully express it with words alone.

Don't make any judgements of Mythological characters of any religion based on any media. Marvel has quite a few things wrong about those characters. Thor is far from a Hero in his actual Norse mythos, and basically was a destroyer and drunkard (Which this game shows off rather well) Same goes for Heimdall. In Marvel, he's a Hero, but his Norse personality is more or less, he see's right through everyone and cannot be fooled. You don't tell your true intentions to him, and he won't trust you and treat you as a threat. Having eyes that see literally everything, and ears that are so perceptive that he could hear wool growing on a sheep or grass growing from the ground, means that you can't do anything without him knowing and silently judging you for your every action. (The game aims to make Heimdall more of an ass, because he's probably done this for so long now that he really couldn't be bothered to be polite about it anymore.)

In case people are confused on why the spear was necessary, allow me to use an analogy You want to enter a room in an FPS However, there's an opponent in there, that you are aware of, who's also aware of you You walk in, you'll die before you know their exact position and shoot So, rather than brute force and die, you toss a flashbang in, then go into the room after it goes off, giving you precious seconds to find the opponent and kill while they're hopelessly blinded What I'm saying is, the explosion of the spear threw heimdalls rythem off, and, as kratos continuously uses the spear to do so, it causes heimdall to make sloppier mistakes in quick succession, allowing kratos to capitalize on them Like, yeah, with foresight you're physically untouchable, but how much easier are you to hit if you got a stun grenade to the face three times, each followed by professional trained boxing by a Spartan general who was literally trained as a machine of war

He can only spot any one from a far then it be down to his own judge whether it's friend or foe.

Kratos was testing Heimdall to see how fast he can go until he finally lands a hit. The thing that confused me was the manifestation of his facial wound directly after getting hit at close-range: Rather than taking the appearance of an impact wound, it looked more like a piercing wound. Perhaps Kratos' protection around his arm had recoiled on Heimdall's skin, or was it the quick and sideway punches that had molded such wounds due to friction?

For the comparison between Heimdall and Baldur 'going crazy', there's a bit of a stark contrast here. Heimdall had his ego and pride cracked when Kratos began to do real damage to his person, after entire lifetimes of being literally untouchable. Baldur was ALWAYS that level of unstable, but he kept it under control when working as Odin's tracker/closer. But the further into the game you go, the more pissed off he is because he sees your efforts to try and kill/fight him being pointless. All reaching to a head when 1) confronting Freya, and 2) when the misletoe arrow tip broke his curse, giving him a sort of sensory overload and completely jumping off the rails.

This fight is the perfect demonstration of someone with raw skill and no discipline vs someone with skill and discipline. Kratos has learned to think on his feet in a fight, while Heimdall has learned to just leverage his one advantage. Kratos figures out his way around Heimdall’s advantage, and with that one advantage gone, Heimdall becomes desperate and ultimately loses the fight.

  • @shinobi9606

The reason Kratos hits Heimdall is not only due to his speed outclassing Heimdall's reaction time. It's also because Kratos can "shut off" his mind while fighting. This means even if Heimdall uses foresight he can't read the honed fighting instinct Kratos has. As a result, even if Heimdall can dodge a few punches, Kratos' instinct will kick in and outperform Heimdall's ability to read his opponent since Kratos empties his mind and lets muscle memory do the heavy lifting. In case some people were curious. Have a nice day friends.

Even though its not particularly difficult, this is arguibly the best boss fight in the entire game for the progression alone In this first phase Heimdall is untouchable and you have to use the spear to overload his senses to create an opening. And in the 3 times you do this you can see Kratos's punches getting faster and more precise in each attempt. First time his hits are slow and telegraphed, the second time they get progressively faster until Heimdall has no choice but to block the last hit and the third one Kratos does ths same thing as the previous attempt but this time he *knows* how Heimdall will block and finally gets a hit in Then after that, Heimdall actually starts attacking, primarily using Bifrost attacks and slowing down time to create openings but he starts actually taking hit after hit as he keeps letting his guard down and it becomes obvious that he's not actually *that* skilled of a figher without his foresight And then in the final phase we get a Heimdall who's given up completely on defense and starts throwing out powerfull, but telegraphed attacks. Effectively reversing the status quo from the beginning of the fight where now *he* can't seem to land a significant hit on Kratos

Do that long enough and anyone would probably stop bothering with people. With that personality factor set they wanted to make Heimdall's face as punchable-looking as possible. Given that in mythos Heimdall has gold teeth, they thought that was even more perfect.
