  • @JayRKID

    @JayRKID

    Hi there, any inkjet printer will do and for card stock use around 180 GSM, for best print results you want a card stock that has a sheen/satin finish, gloss is OK but when you cut out your art on gloss the ink can flake off! Best using a satin :) hope that helps, also I will get some more videos up soon, I also design indie games so that takes up my time :/

    Olivia Mei a laser printer is best for retro game graphics, this is because the colours pop more and are less prone to smudge you also get a sharp defined image, you can use a cheap laser A4 printer, not exactly cheap but they are about £90 also they type of paper I use is 160 gsm silk Matt, you can use a stiffer paper but mite not take in the printer, and to stick the paper to foam board I use double sided, and yes it’s a nuisance but using glue make the card warp sometimes. Hey there, thanks for watching the video, to answer your question, you need to print using a laser printer, this is the best method for printing retro game art as the colour pigment really pops with laser printers, also you need to use a satin paper type, and at around 180 gsm so it’s still easy to cut :) hope that helps you out 👊👾

    A £90 Laser Printer, a cheap a4 one will do as long as it does colour :) the ink from laser printers dont fade like ink jets they also have a more defined edge, the other trick is to use the rite paper, you want somthing that will hold the ink nice but not to thick to cut, i use 160 gsm matt silk paper

My printer is just a cheap £40 printer, print results are really good if you chios the right paper, don't use photo gloss as that cracks when you cut it, matt photo paper would work well though

    hey man, yeah i make it myself, i basically use an emulator to find a good place in the game and take a HD screen shot, i then seperate the pixels in photoshop, print on high quality card and cut them out, you need to do this so that you get the scale correct, im actually thinking about selling maker KITS on my ETSY shop, you think people would be interested in buying a kit all ready cut and printed so that you can make your own??

    It was actually a Xerox office printer at work probbably around 5k, these days though I just use a cheapo £40 inkjet printer as I realised that it's the paper choice that gives you good prints not the ink "to a degree" so if your printing with inkjet make sure your paper is satin finish or bright white coated type and around at least 160gsm thickness :) hope that helps

  • @JayRKID

    Hi there, well i just use a RIBBA frame from ikea, they are perfect for this, they cost around £4, and i make my 3d shadow art around 4" square so that it fits in nicely and gives a contemporary look, sometimes i use the whole frame though for a larger area, so for this i just dont use the card insert, you can see all what im talking about at the end of the video, i do however have a load of new videos going up soon with me actually taking you all through how to make these :) so stay tuned

    Nope :) still works, I’ll upload a video tonight but for now, if you make a custom race on the Nurburgring ring 24hour track, do one lap, set cars to g1 and your self as n100 turn on fuel consumption to max, race the full track, takes 10min, you’ll come in 4th maybe 3rd because all the other cars will run out of fuel and you’ll gain 80k to 100k for the 10 min race, not the fastest cheat but al least you gain miles too!
