LeTourneau L-1850 Loader in Australia (L-1850)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
LeTourneau L-1850 loader has established new standards for reliability and productivity. One of the most popular in LeTourneau's lineup, the L-1850 loader is offered with an operating payload capacity of 100,000 lbs. (45,360 kg) and a 33 yd³ (25.23m³) bucket as standard equipment. The LeTourneau L-1850 loader is designed to center-load most haul trucks with payload ratings of 190 to 320 tons (172-290 m. tons). This LeTourneau L-1850 loader was filmed in Hunter Valley, Australia. Werewolf Graphics: www.werewolf.com.au

Another video on my liked videos list. Love that turbo whistle!!
Hi Qlfarting, This is what I've found in LT's product brochure: ''The loader is controlled and monitored by the LeTourneau Intergrated Network Control System (LINCS). This provides useful operational information such as maintenance, diagnostics, shovel weights and measure capacity, cycle times and other management information which includes the control of hydraulics, TRACTION CONTROL, engine revolutions and limiters through the interactions of the master control module (MCM)." Cheers mate!
big thing... great video, thanks for upload
Fantastic stuff... As a retired airline capt, we have to keep things as light as possible Watching HEAVY equipement at work is awesome. .. Thanks for the film...!!!!
Sounds great!
Loaded under one of these in QLD Australia this operator has an bad floor to work on ,our operators would not pick that bucket up until product was boiling over the top of bucket,The truck backing in was using the J pattern to back in you need less room to do this ,And he is backing in onto the dog bone on the arm,After watching this it tells me how good our trainers were
Alex Williamson. The engine does sound beautiful in real life, they thunder under pressure. But the huge engine is only a generator... These loaders are electric, Which makes that movement all look so seamless. Each wheel has a massive magnetic motor, independently controlled by computer. you do not use brakes to stop, you simply switch it into take your foot off the pedal and it stops almost instantly. Or if you are to lazy to take your foot off the power, just switch in into reverse and it will change direction in second ( weighing in around 220 ton, that's impressive). If you parked it beside a two story house, you could walk out of the second story balcony, into the cab. A beautiful feat of engineering to operate.

Danny Gornall is the electric option a must? Why isn't it largely used on smaller vehicles also? I'd like to know the features of the drive train; does it use AC? Is there some mega capacitor to store a part of the energy like the hydraulic accumulators? There must be a huge reduction gear, right? I'd like to know everything about this method. Thanks.
The MOST interesting thing about these loaders is they have no transmission. They have TRACTION MOTORS. I guess that accounts for the cool engine sound.
Great video!!! It's funny that monster still has a backing up alarm... like "Oh, glad I heard that alarm because there was no way I could see it coming (...)"
i love the sound of the turbo!
I love this work
Very impressive
They're absolutely great machines!
I like the sound of the engine
Truck driver obviously is a little nervous working with a loader. The way that the loader had to pull a little forward shows this. The way I teach drivers is to back up to a loader is to come in a little closer to the loader and turn out when they are at the mid-point of the loader. When they are at a 45 degree angle, stop and back up. Working in a production, they want you to be a little faster than this driver was; the driver took way too long. Loader operator is great. I love the L-1850s.
Dats d right way to load a dumper truck..great vid
Big loader !!!!
Hi Marcus, According to the most recent 1850's brochure: Bucket Capacity: 40 yd3 or 30.58 m3, high lift: 37 yd3 or 28.29 m3 Breakout Force: 276281 lb or 1228 kN, high lift: 280672 lb or 1248 kN Operating Weight: 535000 lb or 242672 kg, high lift: 543000 lb or 246370 kg
TURBO-SOUND-MACHINE,WOW !!!
So Le Tourner is still diesel electric?, I read the book on it's (His) history a few years ago and he was way ahead of his time!!,some of the early machines looed like they were out of the thunderbirds!!!..Great video!,thanks for sharing!
Seemed to me as if the operator didnt have much bucket time yet. They were getting maybe an 80% load in the bucket. The last load he seemed to finally get about a 90-95%
Awesome
Great machines these are. Got a chance to see one of these being built while i worked at the muswellbrook branch of LeTourneau.
Wer so ein Monster fährt ist König der Radlader!!!! Einfach mur FETT das Teil!!! Geil!!!
Very nice machinery
This beast weights almost as much as an empty 747....respect...
i love the whine of the electric motors !!!!!!!
Man I can See that the thing rockin side to side when the arms were in the air!
It seems that as the loaders get larger, the payload gets smaller in relation to the size of the machine. I know a Cat 988G can lift around 60,000 pounds, and I believe it only weighs about 130,000 pounds.
Woweeeeee, an amazing piece of machinery I read up on the man who started the company, he was known as God's businessman, the man who moved men and mountains, amazing
Powerful
amazing :)
Very Nice Video ! I wish i could also make Videos of such Big Machines ! ;(
Somewhere I've read that these loaders are unable to exit the mine themselves and need to do it some other way (unspecified in that article), is it true?
Tremenda maquina
Man that engine really sounds beautiful also I do think the Bakup alarm should be a bit louder also I have a special assignment for anyone who is willing I would like to see if I could find a 1/300 scale model of this machine for less than $100
i imagine they do!
That depends on who they work for. And what country.
I currently operate one of these. Loading a Cat 793 in just under 3 minutes... That's loading the truck to 220 ton, with coal buck in shot coal.

Very huge tires
the alarm is standard in every heavy machinery that doest not have the posibility to see whats behind it.
sorry for other silly question but it is true to this loader does not have steering wheel? is controlled only by joysticks?
Haha, that cab on the loader looks like the zit on a elephants arse. Too funny. I love lots of steel moving like this. Great video!
I im gunna say its electric drive so the rpm of the motor is just running a hyd pump and a generator it doesent have a mechanical tranns... it drive just by regulating voltage to the wheel motors...
is it normal that the sheer size and the turbo spool excites me?
@WorldofDiesel3302 what I heard form people that work there that still are. each wheel has it own electric motor.
And I thought my volvo 40 ton rock truck was big. This is HUGE
top
I was thinking the same thing..really rather ridiculous to have a silly little reverse alarm on such a huge machine. What..you got run over by an L1850 LOADER..Like when did you last have your eyes tested..???
So that's about 160 tons in three minutes. That would take a bloke with a shovel a week to move! And he'd have a very stiff weekend in the pub. I desperately need a job but - doing it by hand, no thanks! I'll drive the truck.
No problems! There are two separate joysticks for steering and for hoist/bucket control. This is the page with LeTourneau's loaders and dozers pdf brochures: three 'w'[dot]letourneautechnologies [dot]com/mining/products[dot]h tm
@eh3500acII also it is diesel electric, the motor only drives a generator which drives the motors. the motors are not fast enough to spin the tires. I work on these at my job
Hi, 45 tons is 1850's operating payload, weight is around 230 tons. Have a look at LeTourneau's product section with brochures: three 'w'[dot]letourneautechnologies [dot]com/mining/products[dot]htm
i believe it has a 4 stroke turbo diesel engine?
that sure is a huge weel loader..
They use this vehicles in our stone quarries
Is it four wheel drive?
is it bigger than a 994
oh fancy shovel
@pekkarisen66 4 turbos!
nice vid
das sind größen die man sich nichtmehr vorstellen kann
do operators make good money?
I think I hear a TURBO! :)
I'm not sure but Le tourneau's used to be powered by diesel engines turning mechanical force into electral force and maybe they still are. This would explain how it's always at full rev's
bucket yardage?
Excellent "car" for shopping!
i suppose it can lift me too?
well of course they have to have an alarm...some people dont notice the giant yellow, house sized object thats louder that five trains at full throttle.... XD
Best video EWER in this category.. EWER...
Whats its weight? see it stands 45 tons but that cant be right hehe
OH MY FUCKIN GOD! Where do i sign for the job aplication to ride such a beast? LOL
mechanic dinosaur
why is the driver in the truck reving it a bunch??
