It's the movie that did the death seeking protagonist right, today you never feel like you're going to lose a character like that, in thia you really were on edge, and when they switched scenes from Glover to Gibson you'd be surprised and relieved that this dude is still kicking

Great point. To pull off wild, as in feral, characters like that, the ones circling life's drain, the writing has to be right, the scenes have to spotlight it, and the actor has to live it on camera. What we mostly get are sad boys, and nobody likes a sad boy.
