The "Loomis" sphere and side cuts are incorrect, at 1:48 the ears are supposed to be inside the side cuts, the bottom of the side cut is also the mouth line etc. Also why are these steps not shown: at 8:04 brows, nose and mouth are re-drawn off-camera, at 9:07 the jaw line magically changed, at 17:13 eye markers suddenly appear? What happens there? It looks like some method of tracing is used: either projection or superimposing a photo and the reference.

I don't agree with this method at all.. if you want to draw the most accurate bullseye 🎯 you would start from the center and work your way out. Start your drawing off with the bridge of the nose and watch how easy it is. If you don't believe me. try drawing a perfect bullseye from the outside in versus the inside out. When I realized this I could draw anything free hand without any grids or lines. I got so good at drawing I have no satisfaction in doing it because I already know what it will look like when its done. Loomis is a fool.. start off by drawing the nose or have the nose already drawn in. How hard is it to judge the distance from the nose to the lips. Once the lips are drawn. how hard is it to judge the lips to the bottom of the chin. It's so much easier starting from the inside and working your way out..

You are right. This is not necessarily the best or crucial method, this is just one method of doing it. There are other methods and every artist chooses according to his own preference. This method is actually important for drawing from imagination or designing characters. For drawing from reference I don’t see a point of doing this method.
