For an explanation, the voice talking to the Dragonborn was Darkstalker Kaathe, a Dark Souls character who aims to extinguish the First Flame and start the Age of Dark. The voice talking to the Chosen Undead was Kingseeker Frampt, a Dark Souls character who encourages the Chosen Undead to protect and eventually feed himself to the First Flame. This is confirmed by the end credits. Kaathe basically used the Dragonborn as a pawn by claiming the Chosen Undead was evil and that the First Flame was dangerous. When the Dragonborn won and snuffed out the First Flame, Kaathe was gloating that his plan worked and that the Age of Dark would begin. That's why everything gets swallowed up by darkness.

To be fair, siding with the darkness is in the Dragonborn’s nature as a Shezzarine.

I love how the final clash was the Moonlight Greatsword vs the Dawnbreaker. That sun-moon contrast was nice.

Finally, the outcome literally decided by one character rage quitting.

3:30 That's actually wrong. In DS1 the only thing you lose when you die is any souls/humanity you're carrying, and you revert to your Hollow form. Hollow form *does* have less max hp than your Human form, but you don’t lose stats every time you die. It only works like that in Dark Souls 2.

Okay this was hands down one of the most epic death battles in the series! My only wish is they included the bloodskal blade just so we could see it’s red Magicka energy beams Clash against the Moonlight Greatswords energy beams that would’ve been an amazing shot. Though I loved the subtleness of the Moon vs The Sun with Dawnbreaker clashing against the greatsword.

If Ant Man vs Atom was Dante vs Bayonetta, Last Dragonborn vs Chosen Undead is Sauron vs Lich King. This episode was just... WOW!!!

Dang, my audio cut off when I popped tf off at the Dragonborn W, I was waiting for that. Ah well, I'll just say that my excitement at the Skyrim Sweep was so loud that I unlocked a new Shout that distorted reality.

i saw in the credits you were in the soundtrack for this fight you did so great on it. As a Skyrim fan i LOVEd this episode they made everything work so well togther and got alot of cool refernces in this

As a fellow Skyrim fan I felt the same way as Bowser_The_Koopahkiin, very satisfying to see just how broken the Dragonborn is.

From what I could gather about this fight, it was Darkstalker Kaathe who tricked the Dragonborn into fighting the Chosen Undead and putting out the First Flame, and the fight ends with Kaathe gloating over Dragonborn as the Age of Dark begins.

Yeah, the writer for the episode confirmed as well that the Dragonborn just passed out at the end, so presumedly this would lead into a whole new adventure for them after the credits roll and they wake up.

Fun fact, while Dovahkiin's official translation is dragonborn, alternate, unofficial interpretations translate dovahkiin as dov ah kiin (‘born to hunt dragonkind’). But here's the question... Does odahviing's soul go to- the dragonborn as is his godly right, or to the chosen undead as he struck the killing blow. Edit for clarification: please assume that the chosen undead's ability would work on a dragon from elder scrolls regardless of the lore of the series solely for the sake of this question

You guys contributed your voices to the music? Now I would love to be in a project like that myself... I didn't have that much expectation for this fight, compared to Sauron vs Lich King which had a somewhat similar vibe going for it (except for the fighters not being villains), but in the end this episode turned out way better! I'm honestly surprised this wasn't the opener for this season.

Some people are saying that the symbol for the Next Time might be the pentagram- supposedly both characters have connections to it, so while it means no demon episode, it at least leaves the beaker symbol open for Eggman vs. Bowser.

Someone's gonna mod this fight as a boss arena in Skyrim Mark my words lol

Fun fact: they downplayed both but the Dragonborn got it worse. Also 10:10 Matpat was a VA on Power Rangers vs Voltron so actually yes, MatPat is canon to Deathbattle.

For the Cypher, one of the sentences on the side translated to "x people out, but keep it silent" which could be next time as they are assassins and the X could reference the Hunter association.

I think this was a very interesting Matchup, though i wonder how they decide the order for each Season? It will be interesting to see how they cover the next one. Also, has any of you watched That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime?

@@galantine723 It seems reasonable to me. Dragonborn can replenish stamina with healing spells, and he can just heal between each time CU resurrects. Since magicka replenishes over time, the Dragonborn has unlimited stamina… technically. Hopefully that made sense, man.

@@galantine723 it doesn’t matter too much whether he can or cannot go Hollow. To me, since the Dragonborn can regain stamina through several means he can fight as long as he wants in a one-sided match in his favour. Since the Dragonborn is infinitely stronger and faster (not even touching the higher dimensional cosmology), it means that genuinely nothing CU does can put him down for good. That would be a win condition for the Dragonborn just by being pretty much untouchable and forcing him to respawn the second he got hit. So if you want to argue that the CU has unlimited willpower and can never waver (I’m not sure how accurate that is), it doesn’t matter.

In short the winner was out of infinte bullshit

In power scaling Dragon born solos

Hate to be that guy but the continuous Health lowering was only in Dark Souls 2 for a reason. It was not a good mechanic. Plus this is the chosen a dead not the Wimpy bearer of the curse. How the chosen Undead and the Ashen one are on the completely different levels than the pathetic bearer of the curse.

Forgot to mention this but this is actually quite crucial. Just as the role was a game mechanic so with limited Magic. Death battle didn't quite do the chosen it a Justice in that department. They would have still lost it's just that it would have been a far longer fight I'm more fun looking fight animorph are looking fight. Honestly they really didn't do enough in that fight it was mostly just swords. Not that there's anything wrong with that I just expected a more ethically longer fight.
