I don't get the comparison between the Birkin and the Margaux. Are people just projecting onto something else because they're tired of Hermés and want to make something more accessible the "it bag" instead? Only really the shape of the handles is similiar. 🤔

Great point. There are so many other bags that resemble the Birkin far more than the Margaux but someone wrote an article and called the Margaux “the new Birkin” and the hype took off! I’m not saying it’s a bad looking bag. I’m just saying, what’s the big deal? 😂

Playing along: The Row bag looks ridiculously big to me, and the Birkin reminds me of a briefcase. I think that Ferragamo deserves more love. They have beautiful leather and construction. I always stop in the store but never buy anything so I’m part of the lack of love! 😂 Not liking the new LVs. I have an LV Montsouris BB with the black leather trim that I LOVE. It’s is my most used bag. Such an easy grab and go. The YSL sneakers are keepers. They look super cute on you. ❤

David Yurman has always been one of my favorite. I live YSL. The clutch that’s patent leather was beautiful. Love it. Oh wow the camera bag is super cute.

I have a few The Row bags including the Margaux, I came to The Row when PP left Céline and was happy with my new discreet bags. I too am fed up with the SM hype over the Margaux bag as I feel like my bag is no longer discreet. The hug is beautiful, love Ferragamo quality and open top bags.

Thank you for sharing all the eye candy! I am loving Demellier atm too I just cant choose which one I want to add 😅 The new slouchy Dauphine is super cute too. I like that it is a nice size to carry everyday essentials which out having to down size

Loved the video. The hype on the Margaux is annoying but I do think it's nice bag - let's see if it becomes a classic. Not a huge fan of the LV monogram these days but that soft Dauphine has my heart. Seems like a practical bag, but it's so $$$$

I have the NY midi in the off white and I love it. So classic, simple, and lux. Definitely worth it.😊

I don’t understand the hype on the Margaux. It’s nothing much. To me it appears too unstructured and floppy and from the videos I’ve watched rather unsymmetrical. I would like it more if it had a bit more structure. I do like the ones in suede.

i'm interested in the row Margaux, but i'm not going to go through any hassle to get it. maybe it's blown up because people are getting a bit tired of the hermes journey and started looking for an alternative. my best guess.

The Margaux bag is everywhere because lots of TH linfluencers want to be associated with "old money" 😊

I said the same thing about the Dauphine bag to my SA 😂😂😂. I was just in LV yesterday to pick up the Twinny bag, love it. ❤ another Chanel increase?? That’s insane 😮

Is the Margaux the next Birkin. No, definitely not. However before all the hype I hadn’t heard of The Row and I am so glad I looked into the brand. The Margaux is not for me but I’ve purchased their park tote and am very interested in a few of their other pieces. Their quality is amazing! I’m so happy with my purchases. The Saint Laurent clutch was lovely. Especially the lambskin version - so soft! It was hard for me to walk away from it. 😂 And yes, I agree on your points about LV and Chanel. 😩

I love a bag with structure on bottom

Demellier def looks so pretty! There are a few bags from them that caught my eye. However Tanner Leatherstein deconstructed it and saw some quality problems. And somehow after that my KZread algorithm started showing people complaining of the hardware falling off the bag after some use. To be fair, they said Demellier repaired it for them, but I def don’t want to be in that situation. So I’m taking the vids with a grain of salt, but it seems like I have to see the bag in person before getting it.

Ah yes, I’m a fan of Tanner Leatherstein as well. I don’t believe he ever reviewed the midi NY bag, or has he? I saw him deconstruct another bag with a very different type of leather and style.

Ugh so sad about the Hug bag. Thanks for showing the top because I was wondering about the closure. It's a stunner but unfortunately that's a pass for me, security is a must!

The Margaux is having a moment because their PR company sent it to all the celebrities/ influencers. It's a nice bag but I would prefer to buy Chanel or Hermes for that sum

Most of the big luxury brands send bags to celebrity influencers every season. Hermes is the only brand that I know of that doesn’t do that.

Not LV trying to sell us a $3,200 Around Me bag with the back pocket pattern not lining up to the rest of the bag lol oh boy!

You are lucky to have a shop in NY! I thought Harrods carried DeMellier but I was there on Saturday and apparently, they just sell them online. I just cannot bring myself to buy one without having seeing it on the flesh …

Based on my experience with my Cuyana tote (which I love!) and the leather I’ve seen on the DeMellier bags, I think they’ll be quite different. If I do wind up buying the DeMellier midi NY tote, I’ll definitely do a comparison.

When luxury brands are accessible people tend to hype them up in my opinion.

Love those sneakers so much!! I had been lusting after 2 The Row bags for a while - the Margaux and the Sofia. The leathers do seem to be high quality, but the hardware, especially on the Margaux, is very cheap, like plastic. And the edge coating is poorly done. So I'm not going to be buying them despite this being an aesthetic I love (over Chanel, for example). I can only justify a certain price for a bag that is known to have quality issues, doesn't matter the brand (nothing over $5k... lol)

@@hellocatwalkcity Most of us are not educated on these details and mostly notice the leather. I suppose that because I am not wealthy I have had to learn how to be more discerning but I also do think we have become too "unaffected" by these prices. Last summer, I spent some time using my substantial investigative/analytical skills 😂in some luxury boutiques of brands that are more under the radar and it gave me a chance to both see and hear about what these details should look like for a bag that cost more than $4k, for example. Similar to Hermes... when you see that the hardware is gold or palladium, and the brand is very transparent about their leathers, but maybe costs $6k (because it's not Hermes). And then you consider a bag like the Margaux or another mid-range LV bag around that same price point - no leather transparency, less than top of the line hardware - it really makes you consider what you are paying for. Some people just want to pay for the brand, and that's ok, if they are aware. Sorry for the long comment.

Love the New York bag! Just an FYI, the 'r' at the end of Demellier isn't pronounced. The brand name is a portmanteau, created from two family names. One of the names is French...hence, Demellier is more like De-mel-ee-ay. Hope that helps! Also love the Ferragamo, but totally agree about the large opening not being secure :(.

Ah yes, thank you! I can never be trusted with pronunciations! 😅 I think in my first video featuring DeMellier, I pronounced it without the ‘r’ and then in this video I reverted back to my NY accent! 😂

@@hellocatwalkcity Hahah I was saying it with the ‘r’ too; but then did some research on the brand, and was like “oops!” I actually wish all brands just came with a tutorial on how to pronounce their names! I butcher so many :(.

Every LV bag currently, for me, has one thing that misses the mark and stops me buying. Just make a small decent one that can become a modern classic to sit alongside the Noe, Speedy, Neverfull & Alma. The LV Tirette has promise but an inch longer and taller with no fixed strap. Adjustable strap please, or a crossbody strap that can be threaded through one side to make a shoulder bag. Strap should also be removable so we can clutch it. None of the double zip pouch thing, you did that not long ago but gave them all skinny, chain straps that dig in. No ‘smart strap’ either as the snaps dig in unless you wear a thick coat. They cost waaay too much for it not to be just right. One trimmed in black treated leather would be great too. We need a new, good Favourite! Call it the ‘Urban’ after me 😂.

My perception of her point is the OVER hype of it all, like the way it’s shoved down ur throat every time you turn arnd… I think if it was really abt “fashion” & style, wouldnt editors & ppl in influential places have been putting it on their short list, or singing it’s praises for awhile? The Row is a brand known for having a smaller, but loyal, following; as well as minimalist, IYKYK designs. Then, suddenly, it’s gone TOTALLY mainstream, & everyone who’s “anyone” is BANANAS abt it, & the Row, in general- almost as if it was calculated… hmm? (Well, that’s my opinion, atleast).
