Let's Talk Apple Pay

Apple Pay is Apple's mobile payments service. As with the Apple Watch, Apple has adopted the Apple symbol "" followed by "Pay" for the service's name, though the company also refers to it as "Apple Pay."
Apple Pay also lets users make one-tap purchases within apps that have adopted the Apple Pay API, and it is available on the web on devices running iOS 10 or macOS Sierra or later. Devices capable of using Apple Pay within iOS apps or on the web include the iPhone 6 and later, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad mini 3 and later, iPad Pro models, and Macs with Touch ID. All of these devices feature Touch ID or Face ID and contain an NFC controller where the "Secure Element" of Apple Pay is located, keeping customer information private.

Thanks Ellen. Just new to this with my new iPhone 14 and wishing I knew about Apple pay and been using it before lol. I love having everything just right there in one wallet app and no longer needing to pull out my physical wallet and rummaging through it trying to find a specific card.

Ellen, are you tired of hearing from me yet?🤣. I haven’t set up Apple Pay yet but I will - I had no idea how safe it was! And Apple wallet 😱. Now I can use those gift cards that I keep forgetting to take with me! I’ve felt very stupid about things and my husband is kind and patient but you’ve taught me so much today. As a senior yourself, you make this so relatable ie if you can do it of course I can. Virtual hugs.

I’m not sure I understand this Ellen. I can understand how it can be more secure because of the reason you mentioned but how does it make it easier than just pulling out your card. The reason for my personal question is a lot of times for whatever reason face ID does not always recognize my face and I have to put in my passcode. I’ve tried repeating taking my face id picture over again but still have problems. I miss the thumb print.

Thanks for the comment Laura. You might want to try toggling off the switch under Settings>Face ID and Passcode> toggle off Require Attention for Face ID. See if that helps with the Face ID recognition.

It’s easier because you don’t have to enter a pin also if the merchant gets hacked they don’t have your card information.

See if this video helps Nina! kzread.info/dash/bejne/eqF8xJeOhpvdk7Q.html My guess is you either need to buy more storage or delete some apps or data from your iPhone or iPad.

Great video as always. I have 11 cards stored in my wallet, could that be why I don’t see anything to add my vaccine card or digital receipts on my iPhone 13?

Hi Bob! My mistake if you have an iPhone newer than the 8 you should be able to store 12 cards. To add your vaccination card go to the health app to add the info then it should appear in your Wallet. Digital tickets are usually managed by the company you purchased them from. Once you scan in the code they appear in the Wallet.

Hi my geek squad goddess! Kudos on another perfect course on using Apple Pay and Wallet. Apple Pay is not accepted at Walmart and Kroger where I sometime shop, because they want the customer to use their proprietary credit card of course. So my get around was to get the physical Apple Card to use at check out. The card is made of light weight titanium and is white so it looks clean and hip too, lol. I like Wallet for storing my loyalty cards, my gym membership card, and my Covid vaccine card so I don't need to have them on my car key chain or in my traditional wallet. If I am out for a ride on my bike and don't want to bring my fat wallet along I can still stop for coffee or a bite to eat and pay with my Apple Pay on my watch or phone. I'm especially looking forward to new content from your channel on the new IOS 16 and watchOS 9.0.! 🎉Stay working out Ellen your are looking strong and fit.🚶‍♀Thom
