Why is it that most people today (most...) have no trouble at all understanding that a black person with Nigerian or Ugandan genetic heritage can be French or Scottish or English, AND that a white person with Irish or Greek heritage can be Australian or Canadian, but a large number of those same people can't see a white person with Irish or Syrian genetic heritage/an Asian person with Chinese genetic heritage, as Jamaican? Or a black person with Wolof genetic heritage as Japanese? I used to think it was just lack of exposure to such people, which could explain the Japanese example because Japan was racially homogenous (to outsiders - within Japan, what most Western English speakers would now call ethnic minorities of Japan are seen more like racial minorities defined by variations in facial features and discriminated against, analagous to white Anglo-Saxons, Mediterranean, central European and Irish whites being different races in the US a hundred years ago) until quite recently. But Jamaica is very multiracial and multiethnic like Canada and Scotland are. It could still be lack of exposure if the international media have usually failed to include the many different looking people in Jamaica in their portrayals of Jamaica, but does that happen? I haven't watched television for years so I don't know if that's the case, or why it would be the case.

If we analyze the human genome we will see that we are one race, with small differences observed in the different population groups that make up the human species, and that the differences between individuals that are part of the human species/race are , biologically, a result of the most different processes of natural selection that have occurred on these groups throughout the world and times, and of course the cultural aspect - yes, the human is a cultural being - which reinforced these distinctive external (physical) characteristics, attributing to them a value judgment - good/bad, right/wrong, better/worse -. Brains, in this process, develop plasticity and different neurophysiological functions in these individuals, but they continue to be brains of the "homo sapiens" species and of course, it all depends on what you mean by "race".

@@nevousabonnezpas4286 Sorry, but you were the one who didn't understand anything. Race is not a subspecies, but an expression used to define human groups that differ by physical or cultural characteristics and this does not make them a subspecies, since from the point of view of the genetic profile we are a single species and I prefer to define it as a single race.
