I love portal, gotta be one of the best games of all time, but my god did getting gold on those challenge maps make me wanna rip my hair out
I really love smaller scale but incredible games. i mean the concept of portal is basic, make portals to solve puzzles but it has become an icon in gaming not only that but it has so much potential when you combine it with other games, take splitgate: halo + portal and that game was loved even tho it died. Anyway just wanted to appreciate portal and portal 2
I recently watched a long lore video about portal, and it instantly made me want to replay it again. It’s one of those games I wish I could experience for the first time again. I love the story, the mystery, and puzzles. It’s amazing. (Edit: i even have the radio song as my ringtone)
Back when the orange box first came out my older brother had played through it up to the end of the main tests. When being tossed in the fire he had assumed that was the end of the game so he ended up giving it to me as a hand me down. I OBSESSED over it when I was younger, I denied that was the ending and poured over the game until I discovered that my curiosity was rewarded and there was more. He still to this day tells me that he gave it to me cause he just grew bored of it.
Another solid video dude, can't wait for the Portal 2 video.
I've put over 14 hours into Portal and I have to say it's THE most replayable puzzle game out there. What I enjoy the most about replaying it is trying to beat my record. I've personally figured out a lot of cheesy ways to speed through test chambers, solving these puzzle in unintended ways. I have been able to lower my record to a little under 45 minutes while not using b-hopping, out of bound exploits or any other speedrunning tricks other than breaking most of the puzzles. And honestly, figuring out ways to bypass parts of chambers are fun puzzles in themselves. Not many games in the genre can claim that they have puzzle within puzzles Seriously, deffo in my top 5 games of all time.
Some thoughts: Thought #1 - Ratman is an entity? 🤔 Thought #2 - It's more than just the fact that the OST is amazing, it's the placement of it. "4000 Degrees Kelvin" at the end of the last test chamber is a sudden and unexpected dramatic turn and gives the player a feeling of dread and adrenaline that screams "it can't end like this!" while the player searches for an escape. And then, when you first get into the true backroom portion, my personal favorite track in the OST, "Stop what you are doing", starts playing. You finally have moody freedom and see the dark secrets hidden from you this entire time. It really sells the "what the hell have I uncovered" feeling amazingly well. Thought #3 - Since you mentioned The Orange Box, I thought I should mention that the ending actually was updated upon Portal 2's release that sees you dragged away. Originally, you just lay there as the screen fades to black. :) Thought #4 - I may be the only who thinks this still, but, at least to me, Portal is THE modern puzzle game. It really set expectations for how puzzle games are designed, presented, and tested. Furthermore, the in-game commentary provides a very great first step into understanding a game's design past simply playing them. :)
If you want some more content, you can do the extra chambers from Portal: Still Alive. They are on the Switch version, or you can get a mod that has them.
ive grown up playing Portal (1+2) and its still my all-time favorite games! its just timeless!
So as someone who got into Portal because of Lego Dimensions out of all things lol, and because I watched a Portal 2 Let's play, going back to play portal myself to get to Portal too did require me to have a break or two because of how much more there is in Portal 2. Without forcing myself to slog through it to get to Portal 2 however, Portal is a great game that I can still recognize as being almost a test for the real masterpiece that is Portal 2. Portal without the writing is good, but the writing of the sequel is what makes it my favorite game of all time, and one of the game industries best releases ever. Can't wait to get a fresh new perspective on Portal 2. TLDR: Portal is good, but MAN Portal 2 is so much better.
An other great video, I can't to see your review of portal 2!
In my playthrough of the companion cube chamber, I spent my time incinerating every piece "vital testing apparatus" just to spite GLaDOS
Yeah ima need that portal 2 video
portal and portal 2 are my favorite games ever oh my god
NO WAY HE'S COVERING ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES
I just found a copy of the orange box at my local game store and my excitement was rather immense to say the least.
28:40 I feel called out 😭 I started a run at like 2 minutes into the video and finished at 22 minutes in
My personal favorite short game is Myst, technically. If you know what you’re doing, you can get the good ending in under two minutes; there’s even an achievement for it in its most recent version! Also, Riven hype, Riven Hype, RIVEN HYPE!!!1!
Honestly can’t wait for you to cover portal 2
11:22 I am not jealous and I am not crying
Portal reminds me a lot of “I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream” with the eerie world of a machine that finds its only purpose in torturing humanity… it’s great!
Amazing video
Pokemon games always felt like one of the longest games ever being 25-35h to beat the main story with the post league story while most other games such as call of duty or halo you would finish off in a single sitting
Seriously underrated
as a speed runner, i burn that cube multiple times a day w/o even thinking about it
After Portal 2 you should definitely review Portal Revolution
To me portal is a horror game of empty creepy atmosphere
portal is the gretest series i have ever laid my mouse/ keyboard on
“Modern output of assassins creed that are huge successes” are we talking about the same ones

I mean Valhalla is one of the highest selling games that Ubisoft has ever put out. Regardless of what you think of the games quality (never played Valhalla myself), I don't think you can say that the game wasn't a success just based off of how massive it was.
portal 2 was so sad 😭 i just played it and it had such a sad story
@TheFloodFourm

Was it sad? Or did you just not want it to end?
@tastycodlover4082

@@TheFloodFourm i think the ending was very sad. the fact that chels father cave johnson was a complete jerk and then he transported his wife’s conscience into glados just for glados to become evil. then in the end of the second game wheatley, not glados sadly has to get trapped in outer space and really wants to come back and apologize 😭
I like it more than Portal 2
I recently played Portal 1 for the first time it's ok but I think Portal 2 is way better you have those moments in portal 2 that are beautiful like when you drop down to the old labs your like wow where am I. and the commentary is really genius i dont have any of those moments in portal 1 also i beet it in like 2 hours on stream i wish we got portal 3
28:45 nah i was playing ghost trick
Strange... Portal RTX ran fine on my 3050 at about 60fps on medium-ish settings and no crashes at all, start to finish.
tbh i like portal more then portal 2 just because of the glitches
What was up with your fov. Was that a 180
We need the old Valve back

Wdym, valve is still doing great things and games, Half Life Alyx is one of the most revolutionary games they ever created, they are supoorting linux, apis like vulkan, creating great hardware (Steam Deck, Gallileo, etc), developing the deckard and they are working in a new game called neon prime, i get that they don't make that much games like before but they still make great HQ games just like before :3
Am i the only one that jumped in with the companyon cube
The issue is people charge over 20 bucks for a sub 2 hour game with no replayability and then are shocked when people refund it.
I wander what that game could be…
throw a fucking limiter on master in premiere pro why do I have to hear jumpscares of music
hearing mark laidlaw after i just watched him watch all of skibidi toilet... its quite jarring
i love murdering the companion cube
fuck, second but thats because i was hunting monsters
damm u have a 4090? thats crazy
Portal good
Play portal 2 and get to "the part where he kills you"
oops i accidentally beat it in under 6 minutes my bad
Portal RTX always runs at 165 for me with no issues because I sacrificed my first-born while sleepwalking or something.

I must have missed the blood sacrifice in the system requirements.
Portal 2 talk pls
I love half-life not portal but it’s pretty good
Huh, interesting take with saying Portal 2 rectifies the problems of the first game, considering it introduced a ton of problems at the same time.
@itsgheb
5 ай бұрын
I agree with this to an extent. I wouldn't say P2 adds a ton of problems necessarily, but there are definitely a few things I prefer about P1 to P2 (Glados performance, the humor, the pacing, etc.) Overall I definitely prefer P2, but you really can't go wrong either way.
left4dead? i still cant beat it after 800 hours
I'm not subbed and I got thus video in my feed 17 minutes after you dropped it
Steam also has awful refund policy making any game under 2h refundable so they encourage longer games
Why talk about portal? Everything has already been said…
Hey why did this get recommended to me? I don’t want it! Edit: Oh, it’s because I watched your Minecraft Dungeons video!
