🧵🌸 LET'S TALK ABOUT MAKING FOR THE MOVIES with Tara Sinclair - KAREN’S QUILT CIRCLE

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

When you watch movies, do you notice the textiles? Every outfit, every blanket, every bag came from some maker somewhere. My next guest, Tara Sinclair of UhOh Creations recently had a commission to make the bags for the HBO series ‘Last of Us’. And it’s a lot more in depth and involved then you can imagine. And she is going to tell us all about it.

    There are 2 quilts in Good Omens that I just love. One is on Adam's bed and one is behind him when he is sitting on the wood "throne" in the woods. You just get a glimpse of the 2nd one.

    Ive seen makers for movies. It's the knitted shawl or a quilt made to look very old but this was by far the best. I don't make bags but I would love to take a class from this amazing person. You nailed it again Karen!

    💃🕺💃Yayayayayay! Another interview!!🎉 You find the BEST people! She is absolutely fantastic! Just like I never REALLY noticed special effects makeup until we watched "Face Off," I never paid as MUCH attention to the background fabrics/textiles until I started quilting and sewing again! It's like when one is pregnant, all one sees is pregnant women!😂😅🤣 Great job y'all!!

    Regular job you like and a fun, hands on, engaging side hustle, nice. Can't beat that. Had to be cool seeing and learning the process they go through to put a backpack on film. I love seeing what they do with wardrobes, etc. for film and how many duplicates they need for different reasons so it's also neat hearing about the what the backpacks went through as well.

    The quilt that first git me interested in quilting was on a shiw called Dawsons Creek , i saw the quilt on his bed and fell in love , sadly i dont know if there is a pattern for it as i dont know what its called ,and as it was about 24 years ago , the internet was not really a thing then . But since then , i always look at quilts and textiles on tv and film .( Favourite film about quilts has to be How to make an American quilt ) its a great story but really highlight's the relationships , how the quilt was part of the community, its just like comfort food to me . I lovef this interview, thank uou karen again for making it .

    I’m so curious what machines Tara is using. I’m a quilter and a bag maker so all of this is right up my alley. Tara mentioned an industrial machine and moving the needle position, is there an industrial machine that can do that?

  • @UhOhCreations

    @UhOhCreations

    Жыл бұрын

    My industrial machine is a straight stitch only, most of my bags are actually made on my BERNINA 570 QEE, which is where I use the different feet. Only when I hit the heavy leather and canvas do I head to the industrial machine which is a Titan 650BL, and there is a left foot and a right foot, that's it on that baby as it's a compound walking foot machine.

    @@UhOhCreations thank you so much for your reply! I love knowing what tools and machines help people create their beautiful work. I stitch on an industrial straight stitch juki, a janome memory craft, and an old singer treadle. I love them all! I really enjoyed hearing about your work. It was a lovely interview.
