I love this band. This song is the first one I heard them do, and I was immediately won over. I also love them doing the Leland Waltz. They are all multi-instrumental and sing also. They mix up their sets very well. Sam the fiddler is manic. Nadine the bass player is very dynamic and cute as hell. Reeb is very talented, but puts down a very strong rhythm line. And Caleb is one of the best mandolin players I have ever seen. When they walk up, they seem to be mismatched pieces, but when the music starts, I couldn't imagine any of them ever playing apart. Just magic in action.

Greatest band. Will see them live in Sydney Australia on 8 November 2023.

Nadene has an infectious exuberance, the whole band gets the room a-jumpin'.

I have been enjoying this group for a few years now. Love them , they are perfect, and so valuable in keeping this music alive, wish they would come to the U.K.

One day, by chance, i heard them and never stopped. Amazing.

They've just been touring here in Australia. They were excellent. Absolutely first class musicianship. 😉

Your descriptions of each of them are right on target. I seem to have heard that Sammy and Nadine are now married, as are Caleb and Reeb. And I don't dip, smoke, drink, take drugs or swear much, but this does not prevent me from loving your show very much.

Favorite band of all time.

My brother passed away last week. Having a tough time getting sleep. Wide awake at 1:30 am and here you were with exactly what I wanted! I was needing to hear some Foghorn String Band this morning. KZread has thrown several mixes with other groups along with Caleb, Reeb, Nadine, and Sammy. I needed a whole mess of Foghorn. Then outta nowhere your channel popped up with this great series. Thanks for helping me make through the night.

Sorry for all of the comments, but your coverage of this group is so good, that I thought that you would like additional info on them. Caleb is actually from the San Juan Islands in Puget Sound, Western Washington. The band has played overseas and was especially adored in Ireland. I have some other suggestions for bands for you to cover, but i will try to send them to your email, if I can find it and leave this splendid coverage of a group I adore, to them.

They actually play a lot more instruments each than you mentioned. All of them play a decent fiddle, for instance. There is one video showing this. And i think one of their hallmarks is that they genuinely seem to like playing together.

A note of interest on Sammy was that he started out as a banjo player and gave it up, while in the service in Germany, because he viewed himself as a failure with it, and then turned to the fiddle. But, he has returned to the banjo, I consider him a fine picker on it, too.

You might have mentioned that Reeb is beer spelled backward. I can't seem to get enough of either.
