I was thinking this…he prob got back all the money he spent on the original Greeny and then some with all the signature sales…actually smart move on Kirk’s part. He bought an iconic guitar and prob made money on the purchase like an investment while bringing a guitar that would have sat in a collector’s closet unplayed to the forefront and adding to it’s legacy.

Taken from the Synyster gates school! Just talked with Syn, and the headless "Nobody" guitar WILL be getting a limited production run with Schecter! Availability and pricing (the "wen?" and "how much?") are TBD, but this IS happening. All models will have the "Synarchy" logo at the 12th fret and no other top markers - super clean. It will come in three models: 100 Gold 7 string headless 100 Large Silver Flake 6-string headless 20 "Acid Rain" 6 string with headstock The Acid Rain finish will be distressed or "relic'd" with these final touches personally done by Syn.

I do kind of like them, but I do find that they tend to not have the features I want and can be a bit unattractive. The reduction in size really lends itself to extended range instruments, but I do find that a lot more could be done with them to make them more practical and interesting. Why not create a headless guitar with a means to quickly swap to alternate tunings? I'm thinking of something with a roller bridge that has a separate tuning key for each string that has two positions that it can move between, one where the string path is unobstructed and another where an adjustable set of rollers with fine tuners are pressed against the strings to increase the pitch, allowing for B-Bender functionality and/or swapping to drop d by manipulating a lever to affect the pitch of one or more strings with the option to have it lock into position or return to the original position when the bar is released. There's so much that could be done with a separate bridge and tailpiece that just isn't being played with because so many designs are trying to integrate the bridge and tailpiece into a single unit, which just makes for something more complex to set up than it needs to be. People know what they're doing with fixed bridges and the possibilities opened up by doing something with a tailpiece that has some interesting features and offers convenient tuning is a missed opportunity IMO. I'm kind of imagining a bridge where the main tuners move on a fulcrum to do divebombing while always returning to a set position, then when the bar is raised you get a new tuning for each string. All the benefits of a hard tail and the ability to do bends on chords with a predictable pitch range and confidence that the strings won't break.

I've got a couple of the Paranormal series guitars....the Cabronita baritone, and the 70's style P-bass. They're both great instruments...the fit and finish were excellent. When I set them up, I barely had to do anything. I love the giant freaking headstock on the P-bass. It's very true to the original, ha ha! Both these guitars are a lot of bang for the buck, and I'd recommend them especially to student guitar players who want a great sounding and looking guitar for a really decent price. Good for gigging and studio, too.

Realistically active pickups, emg's, were developed in the 1970's. Live sound wasn't what it is today. Needed the higher signal for longer cable runs, pushing the front end a little bit more on amps. Now with high gain amps and much higher pickup outputs on passives.. Actives aren't really necessary. I still use emg's in a lot of builds. They're easy, quick to install.

-Much like the beard trend, I'm counting the days until the headless guitars are relegated to the dustbin of questionable trends…and/or for jazz musicians -No, actives aren't going away, at least technically. The EMG type might be, but Fluence are pretty popular. I have a set in a Strat and…well they're not likely to stay long but it's not because they sound bad, it's just that they don't work for me. The buffered signal doesn't work with some of the things I do, and the way they respond to the volume and tone control is…off; but most of the issues I have with them are the same things that other players actually prefer. That and how everyone running into DAWs, modellers and things like that, I don't see actives going away anytime soon. *BTW, regarding "Greenie," Can we put this to rest? Turning a pickup upside down will not put it out of phase, it doesn't work that way. I don't know why this keeps getting said, particularly when it comes from writers in guitar magazines that should know better. It's even worse when its said in an ad or when you're reading a description of them on a retail site. This also applies to saying position 2&4 on a Strat is "out of phase." It's not, they're just in parallel. Lastly: I'm not a Hollowbody fan either, but a good ES335…😮oooh man, you don't even know. Les Paul Bursts with PAFs get all the love and attention. I promise this though: play a really resonant and lively 335 with a good, responsive set of PAFs and you'll know why they were nicknamed the "Burst killer." I fell in love with them as soon as I found out the solo for La Villa Strangiato was a 335. I never even liked Rush, but that's one of my favorite solos and the tone is insane. They work best when they're slightly underwound. Semihollows naturally have a lot of mid-range. So that along the slightly scooped nature of underwound pickups compliment each other in a glorious way. Sort of like how a Tube Screamer sounds killer with a Blackface fender amp. The full bass and presence of the BF mixes with the mid-hump of a TS in a way that makes it hard to shut off the tube screamer.

Not all PAFs have A2 magnets. Just as many have A4 and A5 and some have A3. The spec specified A2 but gibson uses whatever was easier to get at any given time or what was cheapest. Most Pafs from 59 and 60 have been found to be A4 and A5 with A4 being used in 59 and A5 used in 1960. In mid 1961 gibson switches go a shorter length A5 mag . Most of the A2s come from 57 and 58 but even they were using alot of A5. Also Pafs Mags don't weaken over time. That is a myth. They were never fully charged to start with . Winders weaken the magnets in replicas to mimic the old lesser charged magnets.

For the Paul Gilbert single-coil not being available - I remember back in the day, all of his signature guitars were wired, so you can get Strat position 2 and 4 sounds, but middle position was 2 humbuckers together - so you could not get the sound of the middle single alone. Might explain lack of info on the pickup, since it's not designed to be played alone.

Whenever we heard of an Epiphone, LTD, Squier, etc version of those signature models, you better believe we were super stoked because we knew we’d for sure be able to save up around $600 for one. So, I see these signature guitar prices going up and up and in Epiphone’s case becoming ridiculous, and I can’t help but just not care about any of them. I can totally afford them now as an adult, but mentally I still think to myself “holy shit, $1K+ for an Epiphone is pretty nuts” and now that they’re nearing $1.5K it’s just about gotten to the point where they just aren’t affordable options. Granted, you could argue that these particular artists’ fans have all aged into being able to afford these, but I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking these are insanely priced. So who are these really for?

Whilst they may be expensive, you're forgetting that with time, things get more expensive. It's not just epiphones that are expensive, their Gibson counterparts are obscenely expensive as well.

Neck angle looks pretty flat too. That wouldn’t be the only fake in Entwistle’s book either. The alleged “Gibson Flying V bass” is a an example that comes to mind.

My guess is the “Greeny” Epiphone will be upwards of $1500. For that kind of money, I’d go get an Epi ‘59, or just get a used Gibson LP studio. Or something like that. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They hype on epiphone sigs does seem to be down. But I think that’s just because of what’s come out as of late and coming. Greeny is cool and I might consider one myself. But I think to how look it took me to get my MKH and how it was sold out for months to start and I think the sig market just wants more interesting ones like an MKH 7 or the syn headless vs a LP like greeny. Although the pick ups alone could make it worth

Epiphone electrics should be around $600-1000 and their acoustics should be like $1000-3000 since that’s what made Epiphone so revered to begin with prior to the Gibson buyout

Is Hammett using them or not really the decider for active pups? I mean, just like anyone else, it's completely expected that he would get bored and revert back or move on to something else. We do that when we're bored. In the same manner, I'm sure plenty of passive users are just now experimenting with actives. I've got 15 year old guitars with actives, I think they'll be around for awhile.

Watch the Epiphone "Greeny" cost $1600+... I mean come on, they are Epiphones why are they charging what should be Gibson money for them. Not sure what Gibson is up to but I hope this is a lead up to changing the higher tier Epiphone models into Gibson "import models". Gibson need something like Fender's MiMs to fill the high-mid market, Epiphone doesn't belong in that segment. I don't know, maybe I am not seeing things the right way but I always felt like Epiphone was meant to be the affordable Gibson not a replacement for what used to be Gibson's lower end models. You can't even get an Epiphone LP (not special) for under $450 now unless it's discounted.
