Nope. I went back after some comments from Scotty and looked at Talent trees and what they would do to the characters I have in Wotlk and it would damage the Hybrid Builds I have and change the characters completely in style and ability and leave them far weaker than they are now. Not going to Cata unless my wife forces me to run support for her.

And your still wrong, I played it when it came out and tried AGAIN 4 years ago on a private server and found it again everything I disliked and I have been looking at the Cat Talent trees etc again and again it screws all the hybrid builds I like in classes I like to play in Wotlk, TBC and Classic. My not liking is exactly for the things I have expressed.

The “muh hybrid builds” argument is such an eyeroller idk. Oh no your god awful builds that were never genuinely viable to begin with will be a non-option like they already were to anyone who doesn’t enjoy griefing the people they play with! What ever will you do?!

The nickelback analogy was SO spot on seriously! I swear Cata was so much fun and people are literally hating on it for absolutely no reason at all. It's just cool to hate on it bcs others do it.

Would be soo good if they can fill in the content gaps with some time warping raids. Even just old tuning something simple like you said Kara for example. Would just give us another few hours of content a week!

Not sure if it will be good and successful but the leveling experience during Cata was sublime!

I think Cata is going to be the best version of classic so far because not only is it super underrated (and gets a bizarre amount of irrational hate) as you guys mentioned, but Blizz has already stated they're going to be moving through the phases pretty quickly. So we'll not only get a better expansion but also better pacing.

no there were some flaws. the biggest was the lack of content second only to wod. in theory if they had made that water raid it probably would have been ok. also revamping the zones might have been cool but only if the person played alt. if one didnt theyd idnt see that contnet. granted it had to happen its just it kinda went to waste. xmog was fine but didnt come out till the end of the xpac. this time its at the beginning probably so should be be better. guilds also collapsed at this time. so social interaction died. however, wrath classic has proven that people can be anti social any time. so eh.

@@phgamer4393 Yeah the “content drought” argument for every expansion of Warcraft is also blown out of proportion. The only people for whom there has ever been a content drought are nolifers who speedrun the entire game in a month and then raidlog while complaining about not enough content. For those of us with families and careers who play wow as a hobby and not a job, there has never been a content drought in all of WoW and most of it has been released too quickly.

I have a 80 mage ready for Cata. But I'm going to be doing a Goblin rogue 1-80 first. Looking forward to Cata so much!

Speaking of Firelands, I'm personally HYPED for it, since I decided to play a mage instead of a prot warrior this time I get to enjoy carrying my raid for at least 1 boss. Alysrazor, Killing a boss by yourself before the raid gets a chance to really do any damage to her is such a good feeling.

Love your class vids

Work around for your abilities disappearing when you change spec: From the trainer, unlearn your talents, then relearn, but don't spend your last talent point. Always leave one point unspent. Do this for both specs. Then you can switch specs back and forth and not lose the tree's baseline abilities.

For me they would do Mythic+ letting you push your score up, titles at 1500 and 2000 or some such, valor points scale with the level but the gear which drops is the standard heroic dungeon ilvl (previous raid tier ilvl if they want to use them as a catch up).

Demon Armour actually caused the Warlock to Recieve more healing, meaning if any healing effect is applied to them, whether or not They are the cause, they got more health

I do slightly prefer the old world overall, but yeah the change of pace is nice after leveling 239847 characters in the old world. Ultimately it doesn't matter at all though since you spend so little of the character's full playtime leveling. The people that say yay or nay to cata based on the old world are ridiculous. It'd be like seeing a house you want to move into across town and then turning your nose up at it because you didn't get the moving truck you liked. Uhaul was all booked up and you didn't want to use Penske, lol

@@EB-bl6cc It's depends how many time you spend leveling, when you level week or two from 1 to 60 vanilla questing worst thing ever. With heirlooms and exp buff it's better, but still. It's so outdated with all this running around.

People just forget how good Cata is - It is a bit forgettable at the end but apart from that it's great imo

Phase 1 of Cata is unironically one of the best little sections of WoW ever. Excellent heroic 5 mans that are actually tuned up a bit from what we usually get, great specs to play around with, and a good raid on top of it. Oh and also many consider Cata PvP to be the best state arena PvP has ever been in, if you're into that. Worth playing IMO even if you end up quitting before the end of the expansion

Why you should play Cata: Class/Spec combos are unique. Each class gets a level 10 skill and your talent tree is your is your oyster. Please don’t mix up MOP with Cata. MOP has the three talent system.

I’m super excited about cata yet struggling to care about my character non-gear progression (collections, achievements, etc) and really for me it’s because I know I’m going to play war within and genuinely wish some of my achievements would cross-over. I’d be happy even it’s it was simply the still achievable things in retail, but it just feels like my time is more enjoyable when I know my account is getting boosted up by the things I’m earning, rather than it being separate.

Me and my brothers started playing in OG TBC, and we are excited to play cata again!!

Most of my people stopped around after wrath back in the day. Looking forward to try raiding in cata now

41:15 mark, I'm 100% with you. I also took that survey. Was pretty excited to see what QoL stuff they would bring, and other than appearance tab, feels like nothing new. Very disappointed. What was the purpose of the survey?

I totally forgot about the water raid we were supposed to have.. Also side note, WoD was memed on, but if all the scratched content of WoD was actually in the game, it would have been so much better. We we're supposed to have horde base in the Bladespire Fortress, alliance on in the temple of Karabor (before it was BT). Shattrah was supposed to be a raid, ogre island got scrapped, Gorehowl legendary was datamined but never implemented. Zangermarsh zone and much more.

How can you accurately test leveling with weapon skill still in the game?

I'm hyped for cata though I would want blizz to lean hard into changes. I would be super stoked to see retail style flex raiding for example

Yeah I've heard some of the same sentiments on discords and the like. A lot of guilds struggle to consistently field 25 people, but they can get 15-20. I think flex came an expansion or two later but it would be a welcome early addition for many. Makes a lot of sense to add it in cata since the loot is the same in different raid sizes anyway. But I doubt it's going to happen at this point

Tbh I don't think many people want Flex raiding. It's easy to fill 10 man so if you're struggling to fill 10, just split into 2 raid groups since the loot is exactly the same and you can't do both anyways.

I would say to keep any major change for a SoD Cata server and leave the main servers mostly accurate to the original version of Cata, its suppose to be Cataclysm Classic not Cataclysm Classic+ Flex raiding or Gamma Dungeon wouldn't change 90% of the game overall so for that I do not care, but adding things like Warlock Tank and etc definitely would be major changes that would fit in a possible SoD Cata server.

I'm honestly one of the people that said for years Cata was the absolute worst. But I'm son hyped for Cata.

One step closer to MoP Classic! I have mixed feelings on Cataclysm memories - I think a lot of the "bad" was the content drought which is fixable this time around. Oh, I also hated Holy Power with a passion and my main from BC to Cata was a Paladin, so, yeah. I will say I love Uldum and Blood/Frost DK was a ton of fun in Cata. Vasj'ir can go DIAF...wait, I don't think that would work - sigh.

Mythic + is the best thing that has ever happened to the game. It fills in the competitive pve content gap that gets made when you’ve cleared your raid and are sitting there raid logging for next lockout. Doesn’t need to have bis gear, can even just be cosmetic/title/mount/xmog/achiev. But it DOES need a rating attached.

CATA HYPE!!! Going to be nice to actually have time to enjoy the expansion. I was starting college when it first came out and I maybe got 3-4hrs to play a week. Much more free time now and I plan to at least double that!

Who ever restructured leveling abilities probably didnt understand the game

52:30 I do feel it's kind of bs for logs to not count add damage. Sure, if the add isn't supposed to be part of the fight that's one thing, but adds that are legit part of the fight should absolutely count in the logs. As I believe in roundabout way, the statement made here by Jae is even making the point for me that this sends the message that adds don't matter to the fight and in most cases in Cata-onwards raid encounters, they absolutely do.

Gaming changed a lot around the cata release window. Single player and indie games fucking exploded around that time and EVERYONE was swapping over to games like that. Go look at the games that released around Cata.

42:15 I don't want dungeons to be easy... I think there's something to be said for still having dungeons to run for potential rare purp drops and other upgrades for the first month or so of raiding. Also, I don't like seeing any content trivialized, and if the dungeons are too easy all the dungeon farming is going to be over way too soon. I'm fine with normals being super easy so people can see the content, but Heroics should live up to the name. IMO, they got it right with the very first implementation of Heroic dungeons in live Cataclysm.

Signed up for the Cata beta, hopefully us normies will be able to get in soon! Want to try out the leveling, already have all classes at 80 from wrath so probably won't level a bunch of new classes when it's actually live.

The problem with GDKP's is that they're better than most guilds since raiding more than 1 night isn't really possible with fixed raid sizes, per raid lockout instead of per boss lockout, no cross server raiding, and mandatory raid buffs.

The only thing I remember disliking about cata was the world destruction. It would have been cool if they could have kept it normal then after you make it to northrend the destruction happens so the timeline is smoother. I am not a RPer but it didnt make sense to be a major champion but you dont start your journey until after the cataclysm

For me personally Cata was the best expansion ever. I had by far the most fun playing during these times and therefore extremely hyped to play it again. I actually skipped almost all of classic TBC and classic Wotlk and just started again to get myself ready for Cataclysm. I never understood why people hate so much on Cata and I really think most of them were aping each other.

I played cata and really enjoyed it. Healing sucked a bit, but dps and tanking was greatly fun. I enjoyed the world breaking, maybe it needed fixing to a point after cata, like the shamans and druids and mages fixed what Death wing broke. Ignoring lfr I truly had some of the most fun in Cata. Maybe Blizzard will smarten up and rework the Death Wing fight.....Hopefully. but I'm excited for it.

Cata hype, been waiting for Cata Classic since they announced Vanilla Classic. Was the expansion I had the most fun, leveling is way better in the revamped zone, quest are fun and alot of them have easter egg in them. Heroic Dungeons at release was harder then Wotlk Heroics and I liked that, it's the difficulty just before hitting raid, ofc it should be hard, I hope they release them un-nerfed. Raid we alot of fun and all the classes feel way better in Cata.

41:15 There are a lot of cool changes coming in CataClassic, but they are purposely hiding them. I know this is a 'friend of a friend' situation, but I do know someone personally who is an advisor on CataClassic and they straight up told me as much. Believe me if you want, don't if you want. Either way, I don't care, but there it is regardless.

I hope they'll bring in mythic+🤞🤞 I don't like raiding because strict schedules and difficulties finding guilds . I missed out on all the wrath's pve content apart from naxx due to that

Cata is hype. I loved it back in the day. Only the people who literally never played it back in the day are the ones who like to shit on it.

I'm a extreme Cata purist and the idea to add Tank warlock and other SoD crap in cata legit scare me. lol I've been waiting since Classic to get Cata classic and seeing it being randomly change and not be like it once was would *REALLY* piss me off, however I wouldn't mind a SoD Cata server separated from the Main Cata servers though, I probably wouldn't play it but I won't mind it being a thing.

I am going to try Cata, but im not excited for it. I would be surprised if I enjoy it enough to stick around

it will be better than wrath. Maybe not more popular (because of the bizarre amount of hate it gets which will keep some people away because they are drinking the kool-aid), but better yes. Way better class design, way better 5 mans, lots of nice QoL (bye bye weapon skill, etc.), and the pacing is going to be much better because Blizz plans to fly through the phases. Expect a short but sweet

Can't wait for cata, everything raid boss is new and interesting (except madness of Deathwing, giving a dragon a manicure isn't my idea of fun). Wrath is actually pretty boring, was easy back in the day (at least for myself) its easier now with last patch. GDKPs are usually very good runs, my server (Saurfang) does 2 speed runs 60 min 12/12H clear back to back on a Saturday.

I played in TBC and then skipped all of Wotlk. I played hard in Cata and to me, Cata is what I think of "classic". I'm looking forward to running an unkillable blood dk.

Played at launch of cata up to heroic dungeons and came back during LFR dragon soul. So I’ve never experience the content. Existed for something new. Played on a million private Wotlk server

I'm really hoping they go with the un-nerfed heroic dungeons. They got nerfed fairly quickly from what I recall on live, people cried on the forums that they were too hard. But engaging 5 man content is always nice rather than the faceroll 5 mans in wrath

As some who just spend 6 or 7 months on a cata private server, my biggest complaint is having to spend 31 talent points in your tree before you can go into another tree. Id like to have a bit more freedom to choose my talents and their reasoning for why they put the 31 point restriction is actually borderline retarded. "We don't want players to be confused as to where to put their talent points" as if the level 10 selection page isnt enough for even the dumbest players. My second complaint is not being able to roll need on non plate or mail as a holy pally or resto sham. I get that they want you to stick with your armor specialization but it FUCKING sucks when a cloth item drops and you need it but cant roll on it and everyone rolls Disenchant and someone just runs off with a shard. I think there should be a priority for greed rolls over disenchant rolls and it only gets D/e'd if everyone rolls D/E

I'm still on the fence for Cata but it was great back in the day. I'm out if/when they start nerfing everything. I get the super casual wow player who wants the loot without turning his monitor on but thats not fun for me. I am concerned they will put almost 0 effort in Cata after launch. I would guess that 97% of their efforts will go towards SoD and Retail.

AOE looting was cataclysm.

I disagree, class design peaked in Cata, then MoP really bloated classes with too much CC and Utility and spells that have the same function, but have different procs or CDs. WoD was better than MoP, but not as good as Cata. SL is on par with Cata and Dragonflight are peak class design though.

Still waiting on an invite, its still just streamer only and as you said, streamers arnt playing it... so you'd think they'd let people in...

I hope LFR is out day 1, or the previous tier.

Not liking it is perfectly fine but somehow haters feel the need to come in and shout it out. Like just move on and get laid, literally no one asked.

Cata is what made me quit WoW back in the day so I was one of those people up until I realised that was 15 years ago and alot of stuff I hated back then, I like now.... so I'll give it a shot. The 2 main things I hated about Cata, was the new talent trees and the leveling being too fast. And the great new world they made is empty because all people do is spam dungeon.

Why pay for "internal testing" when you can give people a beta key and do QA on their dime?

Cata initially set the bar for a bad expansion imo but it's LEAGUES better than Shadowlands, BFA, and WoD I think. WoD though is almost even with Cata as I do think WoD had good raids but bad systems. I think overall Cata had good raids and honestly pretty fun class design Cata is also what I was most hyped about for classic. I spent way too much time in the other 3 expansions to get anything more out of them.

Cata was actively hostile to altaholics and as someone with 10 toons I raid ICC on currently I'm not sure if I am going to drop wow classic in the same way I dropped it the first time around.

LFR is a completely valid reason to hate Cata. It's content you are forced to engage with due to the value of trinkets and a few other items. Five people trying to carry twenty other people who have no idea what is happening (or are literally afk) is just an awful experience for everyone. Still excited for Cata to get here.

Cata is The misunderstood child

The problem that I have with Cata the world doesn't really feel like a World breaking event is underway. Deathwing just flies over the zones, doing nothing but burning suff. He's called the Destroyer, make him do something more when he pops up in the zones. Do world events regarding patches. I want Twilight hammer cultists, Elementals, Black and Twilight dragons attacking zones and cities like in Legion prepatch but for the duration of the whole expansions with events etc. That's what would make Cata a lot better.

Tbh the pre-event wasn't just Deathwing flying over zones, it also had world-wide (in Azeroth) camera shakes from random earthquakes. The twilight's hammer recruiting Stormwind citizens into their fold with doomsayers abroad. Also the world was being attacked by elementals spawning from rifts being hostile to even random world mobs. I believe the elementals also attacked cities? Not entirely sure. Of course it wasn't anything like Legion, that was imo still the best pre event to an expension for sure.

Such a non-important factor though. The meat of an expansion is what matters, not whether or not the pre-patch is amazing

Gdkp bans in cata would be amazing

Thats the biggest issue with cata, all this leveling stuff is either skipped by already being level 80 (bad), RDF spamming (bad), or BG spam (good, but maybe too fast). And all these bugs get in the way of the fact that even without heirlooms, you WILL crush with most specs and easily clear through mobs since theres no longer any elites/group quests. Cata is full of insanely good shit marred by really bad components. Reworked talents where each talent does something impactful? Your locked to one tree, no hybridization Dungeon heroics being hard as hell and fun? RDF baddies mess it up (though 4.3 classes and players being somewhat better may help) 10 and 25 nm and hc? Only 1 lockout between 4 modes, no playing with casuals/pugs for some fun nm swamp or dedicated 10 and 25 hits (imo 3 lockouts, 10-30 flex normal and 10 hc + 25 hc) PvP? Nothings wrong actually.... (except maybe all the interrupts) Healing reworked to be awesome mana watching and triage style? AoE spam healing (make all aoe spells just hit 5 people instead and you'll get something more intersting) Class design being awesome everywhere? What is Ret pally

Cata is better than MoP. MoP has the most negatives compared to positives of any expansion(SL being a close second), but it still has many positives and is good.

I don’t want to rush through cata.

I don’t think Mythic+ belongs in older expansions personally. It worked in Legion because the expansion already had infinite stat/power scaling.

The should have made the old world stay the same , and everyone would have been hyped for just the new zones/raids

maybe, but ultimately it doesn't matter much. You spend a tiny tiny fraction of your toon's playtime leveling

The new world is better, with the exception of a few zones.
