Hi Friends!
Many of you have asked me about dealing with anger and some tips on diffusing it. While I'm not a psychologist, I DO believe mindfulness and awareness to the issue is key. I know that I definitely have times I need to calm myself down...especially when letting LITTLE things throw me off my game. The big things I have no problem handling. But the little things? Those are the tricky devils! 😈
I hope you enjoy some of the affirmations and find one or two that you can embrace. And if not, then I hope the sound of my blah, blah, blah voice helps you to relax or fall asleep! 😴
And check out Mitra Rahbar's book - Miraculous Silence! @mitrama11
Hugs from me to you! 🤗
Very warmly,
Jeannie

I just saw this and want you to know I could have written it! (Except I only have one child, but it really peaked after my child was born!!) I started SSRI anti-anxiety medication a few months ago, and it is like I woke up about 4 weeks after my first dose and THE ANGER WAS GONE. I'm so glad to see someone else has had a similar experience. It's very validating! The anger - which is really anxiety - and getting it under control at last... I'm just so grateful for therapy and modern medicine. I wish you well. 💕

@@JeannieBASMR that's actually common here
My therapist always says that anger is what happens when someone crosses a boundary of yours and that it is an important indicator. In a next step one would look at what boundaries were crossed and whats the basis for that boundary etc. Maybe its a "useless" boundary. BUT the emotion in and of itself is a good thing. Funny thing, I wanted to try the backwards journaling and I couldnt find the video where you spoke about it...and here you go explaining it again. =) edit: I should add that I was speaking of actual anger. Not frustration in disguise etc.

Thank you for this Jeannie ❤️ I needed to hear this more than ever. My 2 year old is testing so many boundaries and she has incredible defiance. Her frustration leads her to grab, hit and pull my hair. I have PTSD from abuse in my past that causes me to go into fight or flight when my daughter behaves this way with me. The power it takes to block everything out and meditate in these moments to prevent my triggered responses, it can be overwhelming. I never ever want my daughter to see her mum out of control with anger. Children don't forget that, ever. I remind myself that I am not the people from my past, neither is my sweet little girl. I owe it to her and myself to be better than those before us ❤️

@@OrNge127 I think having support in this area could really help both you and Ellen. Maybe you two could connect for support? Just a thought. Willful kids can wear us down to our very last nerve - and yet we have to show and model the behavior we want them to follow, as hard as that is sometimes. The years do pass quickly (I know it feels like forever) and the behaviors you train for now will help in the later (teen!) years.
Oof. This one hit home today. I was writing a story that wound up drawing from a pretty wounded place in me, one I thought I had long healed from. Turns out you don't always know the wound's still open instead of scarred over until you prod at it! I've spent a good chunk of my day identifying where this anger came from and why it lingers on, but the peace this brought me has let me settle after a night of significant self-reflection. Thank you as always, Mama J, for providing us a safe place to process the rawest parts of our lives and helping us to heal along the way ❤

Great topic you brought up here! I guess we’re all victims of anger at one time or another. I find that most folks don’t want to take responsibility for their transgressions. We all need to be accountable for what we do but also what we don’t do. I look at past situations that I botched very poorly and handled all wrong but being only human, I strive to improve. What scares me more than anger issues in todays world is the excuses for folks to treat each other like unwanted trash. We need to be a kinder and gentler nation with less division. Thank you for having this discussion. We all need to reflect on this subject way more than we have in the past!

Thanks again, Jeannie! Great thoughts and solutions on tempering anger. When I feel myself getting angry I say "Stop. What's the trigger in this situation?" It often stems from childhood trauma such as not being able to ask why or not being heard. I actually create journals, one that has weekly prompts that I sell online under Lil's Evolution, but I absolutely, in all my years of journaling and even practicing manifestation, never thought to actually write my daily journals as though the day had already played out in my favor. I will now! Thanks for that tip!

I grew up the youngest in a large "highly emotive" family. Unless furniture was about to be broken or it was gonna get physical my parents let my siblings fight it out but looking back as the youngest I was in a weaker position and I did a lot of going along to get along and people pleasing. As an adult I tend to internalize anger as I like to avoid conflict if i can and will go along to get along. This internalizing of anger can manifest itself in gastro upset, migraines, depression and anxiety and poor sleep with the occasional blow up. So...I am a work in progress. Be kind to yourself and cut yourself slack. Forgive others as you would have them forgive you. Let go and let God using prayer during tough moments has been helpful for me. Being mindful of what I have control over and what I do not. Knowing my limits and setting them and being able to say NO without turning myself into a pretzel has been liberating as well. Breath work is also something I utilize daily as needed and before I need it. It is nice to know others struggle with anger as well.❤

Yes! The best years are 40+!
Everyday I struggle with my anger now. Since my best friend suffered a cardiac arrest last year and now she’s in a vegetative state and I miss her. I miss ringing her and talking with her, I miss her voice, It hurts too see her parents suffering and I can’t fix it. Everything about it is not ok and I can’t accept it. I can’t get past it and move forward. I’m so angry and not matter how hard I cry it doesn’t change anything which is hard. 😢

@@JeannieBASMR each time I see her I pray there’s a change and there never is. When she was taken off life support we were told she had two hours to live. That was 6 months ago and she’s still holding on. For what purpose I don’t know but I do know she’d hate living the way she is right now. 💙

@@tamz4127 I wish we could pull the veil back and see behind it, to understand the purpose of something like this. I do know your friend would NOT want you bitter and angry. It’s hard - I know. But if you step way outside of it all to view this…somehow…finding a way to bring love and light to this hard situation will be what you may look back on with some bit of peace - some day. I sat with my brother in a vegetative state. He was 15 months older than me and my best friend as well. At first I was so mad and bitter. But then I began to release the part of him that couldn’t be with me and communicate with something higher, something unseen and unexplainable. Some days were hard, but I knew that focusing on love was ultimately better for me - and him. I truly felt it eased him. I dreamt of him a lot right after he passed…we’d have wonderful conversations. I still dream of him occasionally, but will often silently talk to him. We don’t know the purpose of someone hanging on. Is it for us to learn tough things while we wait? Perhaps. But it’s how I have chosen to view it. “How can this make me better? How can his/her life here be something positive we take forward?” I pray the loving and joyful memories with your friend begin to fill your heart and some day help to ease your pain and get you through this hard time. ♥️

Oh Jeannie, amazing how the universe gives us exactly what we need, when we need it. Anger. I've been seeing red since yesterday morning. My husband was in a horrible car accident on the way to work, caused by someone else making a lefthand turn right infront of him as he was going through a green light. Its a miracle he is alive. When I arrived at the scene, the other driver who caused the accident was still there, completely unscathed. I marched right over to him, and I absolutely unleashed a verbal attack on him. I didn't even recognize myself and this is so out of character for me. I guess every day is part of a greater journey, we are always trying to be better and yesterday I had a lapse in control. I'm feeling now that I should have just been thankful no one was severely injured. I came so close to being a single mother yesterday, my babies losing their father, me losing my husband. To know how easily he could have been taken from us, wow, it makes my blood boil. I'll definitly be using some tips from this video to help me cope with this and forgive. Thank you, once again, Jeannie. Perfection as always. Love from Caitlin & Sophie in snowy Canada!

Honestly, panicky situations often bring out extreme reactions. It’s nice to look back and think you should have done something different, but in the moment, you are in full-on emergency response mode. Totally understandable. My hubby has had close calls, not from flying but from driving home from the airport! That’s the most dangerous part - not the flying! I’m so glad your hubby is ok!!!! Hugs to my baby Sophie! And you too!
Hey Jeannie, I really loved the focus of this video; I am a therapist and some of your suggestions are spot re: good strategies; as a side, i partner with betterhelp in my practice ; I like it bc it makes therapy available and accessible for those who need it; a huge range of counselors to pick from and engage with from comfort of your own home; perhaps they might be a good partner for you too; I don’t get a kickback or anything lol for this in any way just thought it would be a good resource for your viewers

Thank you for this info! I will check it out some more!
I love this video.. I've found anger to be one of the most difficult and uncomfortable emotions to deal with. I totally agree what you are saying and would add something that I heard on another video I think from Gabor Mate about anger, that anger results from one's boundaries not being respected. I have found this to be so true in my own life, that most of my anger has come down to someone crossing my boundaries, either physical or emotional or whatever. I think it takes a strong person to control their anger and do what you are suggesting at the end, which is a beautiful and wise thought, to realize we are all cut out of the same cloth and to have empathy instead of anger. I'm not sure I'm that strong and probably should get some help with dealing with anger, another very wise thing you suggest. One more comment, I think when people come from an abusive childhood like I happened to, it causes and makes it really difficult to deal with anger. Our boundaries were crossed over and over again as children and it just leaves such deep scars. K, sorry to go on so long, anger is a thing that I have dealt with most of my life and it is very destructive, often coming from deep and unresolved hurt and once you have that in your background, it is so easy to be triggered over and over again as an adult. Thank you Jeannie for this video, it really helped, you have great ideas and just opening up this topic for conversation is helpful. Hugs to you too. xoxo W

Hello, luv. Yes, your personal experiences are not "run of the mill" anger that are easy to get rid of. I totally get that. I know others with the same thing. It breaks my heart...truly. This video is obviously for the more everyday-type of anger, and I'm in no way qualified to address something deeper. Which is why I truly want people to know it's ok to get help. There is no shame in needing assistance in dealing with this. Thank you so much for sharing all this. You contribute way more than you can possibly know! XOXOX

Reaching out and talking to someone may be very helpful to you, especially in light of your friend's death. I'm so sorry about that - and I know what this is like. Society, for the most part, villifies anger. This is undeserved, because it's all in what you do with it.

This was great Jeannie i am sure this will help a lot of people and we must remember we are not our emotions we can just get caught up in them once in while. During affirmations you reminded me of Louise Hay and the scripting is fab. Would you consider more teachings on scripting ? your book knowledge is always welcome too Thank you Jeannie ❤

Definitely something to consider!
this topic is very personal to me as a trans man. having this much testosterone put directly into me has made my tendency to get angry rise to more than its ever been. it makes me feel awful because my birth father was a very angry abusive person and I have nightmares that I will be like him. Every day I try to be better to avoid that outcome

as well as this, all my life I was told to not be angry or at least never openly show my anger. it made me bottle emotions up as to not bother others and really messed with my sense of self growing up. it feels good to let that emotional waterfall flow instead of blocking it

Oh dear Basil. You have to exercise restraint more than the average person, luv. You need to find ways to de-escalate your anger. I wish I had an answer for you, but keep on that quest! Im sure you’re not alone in that journey (with the increase in testosterone.) So try to plug in with those who have walked your path. ♥️💕♥️
