i had some fights on twitter about this with armys and they literally acted as if i disrespected bts by criticising the packaging of the album like,,, go outside and get a life pls we don't have to praise everything that has to do with our faves and as customers we're very much allowed to complain about something WE paid for 😭

I really don’t understand why Big Hit thought this kind of album packaging was a great idea. I miss my photobook, the concept pics looked so promising...

@@melissav2153 i agree but they r double-sided... the blue tack or whatever will ruin the very thin quality of the paper and if i wanna turn it around n use the other side left over blue tack might remain and it could rip too. if they were made out of the same paper as the actual posters and were single sides then yeah they would make pretty af posters

my whole issue with the bts "photobook" is that it was ADVERTISED and MARKETED as a PHOTOBOOK. not as posters, not as newspaper thin photos. if it wasn't deceptively marketed as a normal photobook I would have no issue with it. Is it weird? yeah. do I like it? not really but I would have known what I was paying for. I saw the album specifics, I preordered the album under the impression I would be getting a photobook. not posters. a photobook. Aren't gonna make a real photobook for this album? Fine but don't lie to me to make me wanna buy it more

Its sad cause this is only a marketing strategy... I personally don't have a prob with the "photobook" ,they used recycled paper so it's ok for me plus you can use the photos as posters. But idk,anyone has their own opinions and ideas,for people who pre-order it it's kinda unfair if they are fans of sapled photobooks...

@@jaell2496 i dont really know about the source,but the paper is different from the other ones and you cant see the photos that well like the others (cause of the type of paper)... I heard about that from so many ARMYS that by watching it i though "maybe its true,and thats a good thing". But then,for the huge album on its own,idk what to believe,i personally love it,and i respect everyones opinion. (But for real lol,i dont know :"D) Edit: im sorry if theres an error,im not a native english speaker ^^

I’m not that dissapointed by the album packaging myself, I just don’t like the misinformation going around and people trying to make people feel bad about complaining when we don’t even know for sure that it is recycled paper :P and no worries English is not my native language either.

Actually, just the fact you're paying for these albums gives you the right to complain about it. You paid for them, with your hard working money only to be disappointed with the packaging, in kpop that's like the cd coming damaged from the package🤷🏻‍♀️ I love the concept of photocards, but if I'm paying this amount of money for something so underwhelming, I'll wait until I can actually spend it without feeling worried about my bills People seem to forget sometimes that we aren't just fans, we are costumers (the only reason why I'm still thinking of buying it is because the album is amazing)

@@lauraherz99 I get you, I'm not exactly sure what they were going for, but I'm just glad we got something. Most artists don't provide extra things in their albums. They just sell the CD. I hope their next comeback (rumored to be just before Jin leaves to go to the army, near the end of 2020) is better and we get proper photo books. Personally, I loved the Persona albums and the packaging for it.

For the UK, i’ve heard people say that the government or whoever is doing the law making thought that having individual photocards would result in bulk buying of the album as people would buy larger quantities to get the member they wanted. Bulk buying is considered as gambling somehow hence they removed the individual photocards. edit: so the law says an album cannot chart if there is something random inside it.

It's not about bulk buying. The law just says that there can't be anything random in an album or it isn't able to chart. So we only have OT7 cards in our albums :(

Well they number one album in the uk and in the uk top100 ON is #21 and Filter is #100 Also in my album I got ot7 card but I thought that was random because I usually get a member card and in mine I didn’t get a poster but it was a Korean version so maybe it was just the company I bought from I do find it stupid how they try so hard to keep them and other artists off the chart , especially when such stupid songs can get on it so easily. However the inclusion of kpop is increasing slowly so all we can do is hope that it will change

listen, im an army for almost 3 years. i have almost every album, i buy merch, i even bought army membership. i gave a loot of money to big hit. and im so disappointed in 7's pacakging. its so bad. people say that this "photobook" is meant to be eco-friendly. well, thats bullshit. if you want to make our album eco-friendly you dont choose this bulky, big box and dont fill it completly. its such a waste. also i think that bts' packagings are getting worse since ly era. wings was also underwhelming, but ynwa was really really great. but then came her and the photobooks became shorter, thinner. and yeah, i white lyric pages... that truly aint it. i love bts' older packagings, sla is one of my favourite physical albums ever

Yes I agree. my fav from them was the hyyh prt 2, My God they were gorgeous don't think I'll ever love an album more. All the albums up to wings were great, then they weren't quite as good imo, but I still loved them. Persona was very pretty though especially 1 and 4! they were more of a decent size too XD

I am so glad you did this video cause frankly THIS NEEDS TO BE SAID. I don't know about other people but I work very hard for my money so as a consumer who purchased something I firmly believe we should speak out when the quality of an album's packaging is bad or not to our liking. It doesn't mean we have an issue with the artist or with the music on the album though, and A LOT of stans seem to think the ones who make comments about not liking the quality are "attacking" the group when it isn't like that at all. If you love everything about an album or packaging then I think that is great. But please don't hate on the ones who don't agree with you cause that's just not it. And that's the tea, Sara Lee. yes! finally, someone's made a video about this. I always have an issue with 'clunky' album packaging and it's even worst when there's more than one version. there's absolutely no way bh made the album with the environment in mind, especially with all the unnecessary extras (the colouring sheet, the postcard, separate lyric book etc.) that could've easily not been included. It really does seem that bh is taking advantage of their customers, and I believe this even-more so due to how gfriend had standard kpop packaging rather than "environmentally friendly" packaging for crossroads - yes, gfriend is under source music but I 100% believe bh produced the album, especially with the film reel they included which was similar to the one in persona. This album was released recently and was in no way "environmentally friendly" - it was the same packaging as usual. people have the right to be mad at this, for the price it's extremely disappointing - there's no way to justify the packaging being this bad. bts is the biggest group right now, it's sad that bh has so many resources and potential to make extremely interesting and fun albums... but instead, they waste their profits to print colouring sheets. like?? hopefully, next comeback they'll improve like how seventeen decided to do smaller and thinner albums after the release of teenage, but we'll see.

tara BigHit are taking advantage of Armys because they know most of us have already preordered the albums and will still buy albums with shit packaging. There’s nothing on the packaging that says the paper is recycled (if there is tell me where). I’ve noticed that BigHit’s less popular groups ie TXT and Gfriend have much better packaging. Another reason why BTS packaging may be bad is because BigHit couldn’t handle the vast numbers of pre orders. People are also having to wait longer for Weverse orders because of coronavirus. Coronavirus is so bad in Korea now that I think it’ll affect future Kpop album production but that’s a different topic.

MOTS: 7 physical album would be so perfect if Bighit were to provide an actual photobook too (like Persona album's). That would be ideal, I feel like..

I feel like if the point was to have an environmentally friendly album they would have used it as a marketing tactic considering how big the topic is now due to global warming and such. Another thing with the photobook is that the official item description says it's just that: a photobook. Nowhere does it state that it is a bunch of folded posters and why on earth would they include a poster when they have tons of small posters? In my opinion fans decided that it is folded posters to quiet down everyone who dare to say anything negative about the product. You don't have to like everything the company puts out. Voicing out your complaints about a product you put your hard earned money on is not a bad thing.

i agree! but bighit hasn't made any statements about the posters being environment friendly either that's just an assumption armys ran with. the least they could have done was list the posters as posters not as a photobook they did us so dirty by not giving out correct information. that's my biggest issue tbh bighit is a big corporation now and i wish they had been more transparent it's kinda sketchy :/

The environmentally friendly excuse is so dumb honestly because if that was the case they still released 4 versions. If they really wanted to be environmentally friendly why not release just one version of the album. I know Big Hit didn't actually say it but if they had it would feel so money hungry in my opinion, knowing it's bad for the environment and still want to make money by selling four versions

Im late but yeah same here. I opened version 2 of mots7 knowing already how the "photobook" will be, but i just looked at it and was like "no. How could they do that". Its so dark and you can see trough, what is emberassing bc the other side has a white spot and it just ruins the picture. Also bc its so dark, the paper sucked in the ink and i couldnt tell the wings and their dark side of the face apart. And me beeing in 5.semester of photography would never let my photos print on that if its so dark. Sorry for the paragraph 😅 i needed that, but in short: i feel you

Oh I know exactly what BigHit was thinking, and it's the same thing they've been thinking for 2 years now: they don't need to try so hard because they know the album will be bought. That's it. Give the fans a plain white album with only one postcard, photocard and the teaser photos in poster form and that's it and people will still buy it in its hundreds of thousands. There are multiple ways they've shown this, but I'm not planning to get into a pissing war in the comments, so I'll leave it at that.

Other than Limitless I don't have complaints with NCT's album packaging so far, Empathy was actually beautiful and SM keeps the albums on a high quality (Red velvet's are quite cute and Super Junior's (the new ones) are also packed)

I'm always so torn when I see stickers in an album. As a child of the 80's I'm used to collecting stickers and I ADORE them, but at the same time it's nearly impossible to use them for their intended purpose (which would be fun to do). When albums come with items that are intended to be used (like stickers, bookmarks, coloring pages, etc), it's hard to get past that feeling of "but this is part of the album and I don't want to ruin it." My favorite albums are generally the ones that are basically just photobooks that can easily be accessed on a shelf and flipped through from time to time, although it's fun to see how creative they can be with the album design and packaging!

The BTS album contents was pathetic compared to any other album. Honestly , I'm so disappointed by the quality and although I didn't purchase one, I felt incredibly awful for new ARMY for this shit show. Its not worth the money... Like I paid significantly less for Love Yourself and it was 💯💯💯 percent better. BTS works really hard, but I felt like BigHit was really out here scamming folks after that

Yeah I totally agree. I wasn’t able to buy the persona album but when I finally got the money to buy the 7 album I was so happy. This is my very first Kpop album and I’m honestly disappointed. I love the concept, music and photos but the album itself is a big disappointment to me. Yes, I’m an army..

Mine arrived abt 4 days ago and if I’m being honest I was excited and I did scream. I love the concept. Since it’s my very first album I’ll cherish it, even if the photobook is a disappointment. Ill just cope with it and be happy that I got the album!

I know a lot of Armys have said that mini posters were made instead of photobooks because BH is trying to be environmentally friendly, but I completely agree with your disagreement on that matter! I was once in charge at work to create a more eco-friendly workplace and trust me, changing the paper into the recycled paper does not give much impact to the enviroment as much as the effort and cost itself. Also quick question, is it actually informed by BH that it's from a recycled paper? (I haven't received my albums so I couldn't tell yet). I mean.. I, too, appreciate their effort in going eco-friendly if that's what they are trying.. but there are much more things/items that can be modified other than the photobook. For example, the lyrics book, the plastic protectors, etc. I also agree with your point on how we could have got more pictures from subunits in the photobook rather than getting what we've been shown from the teaser. Maybe the biggest dissapointment might be because the pre-order info stated that we'll receive a "photobook", which turns out to be these mini posters.. Then again the albums and concepts are all so beautiful! 💜 Just putting my personal opinion here, no hate or whatsoever! :) I still love the boys and the new music a lot! 🥺👌🏻

To be honest, that isn’t a photobook, it’s as good as a newspaper. And that’s a fact. BTW, I’m an army too...

Just two seconds out of your day to imagine how many trees would have to be plowed through in order to make all of the "high quality, large photo books" that you people are demanding? The damage would be INSANE due to the high demand of these albums. Of course producing the album is going to do damage to the environment. But the point is that it did LESS damage even to some extent to what it would have done if they made photo books similar to one's they've made in the past.

I think it’s a bit sad that BigHit didn’t make a great photobook with these photos. These are actually their best concept photos, version 2 and 3 could’ve had the photos brightened a little bit but not too much. The colouring sheet could’ve been a great way for Armys to express their creativity and post their colouring ins but it hasn’t happened. Armys are also upset with the packaging because this is probably their last album as ot7 for a very long time and they want something special for this album. I would’ve preferred different post cards for different versions I’d love Version 2 group version post card to put on the fridge

I agree that as a consumer we are allowed to have constructive criticism and feedback about the goods we buy. I absolutely love the music in MOTS 7 but the packaging isn’t my fav. I was hoping for the packaging to be like the young forever album. However I’ll live with it lol. Hope Bighit will listen to us and do better with the packaging next comeback!

It's so so sad that she has to say so many times that it's not about the group or the members or the music... I'm not gonna be the first to say this though lol. She mostly was disclaiming the BTS album as well... she knows how toxic some of us ARMY are (obviously not all). I'm not afraid to share this opinion of mine, because I have based it on fact and other things that I believe. XP love y'all

And as for BTS's album, I just wonder why did they not do like better quality paper postcards kinda like how MX did for The Clan 2.5? That could have looked so much nicer

i heard that the bts “photobook” was made like that this year bc fans complained abt too much paper being wasted on last years persona bc of the sales so this year the photobook is made of 100% recycled paper

yeah but it's still kinda weird, "photobook" and "environmentally friendly" aren't mutually exclusive, they could've given us an actual photobook with recycled paper instead of what we got. then there's the fact that it's all encased in this massive white box anyways. it's like when people pig out on food but order a diet coke on the side lol

I LOVE looking through my album phonebooks occasionally, when i'm sad, happy, or wanna see my faves' faces. i will never ever ever look at my MOTS 7 ver 2 album ever again. why? bc first of all it's ver 2 (my favorite concept but) with horrible dark paper and ink where i can barely see their faces. also. i can't casually flip through the photobook. it's a whole ass effort i don't want to commit to. i don't wanna crease the papers, lose the order of the pages, or literally have to deal with the unboundedness of it. its the worst. and i thought albums in envelopes were the worst. smh i was so naive

Honestly you hit it right on the head. The reason I did not get all 4 versions of the photobooks originally was because I just had a sense, that ER may completely flop on that and be too lazy to do 4 separate photo concepts. I bought the Kihyun cover member book, and I did get the "united" version with my tour ticket. The deluxe photobooks are slightly different than the member ones, but they're all the same, so I do hope to stop by a store and get one version only if I can still find one in stores.

Sophia K. I’m so disappointed for Monbebes, the company is going to make less money anyway if they just use the same photo book anyway. I’m glad you only got one version, I’d feel sorry for those who got all of them. I tend to collect BigHit albums because their photo books are always different especially in the newer albums. I buy some JYP albums and I mostly only buy one version because they’re mostly similar. The latest Loona albums are all the same too haha

@@saraha8513 Oh Monsta X's albums are USUALLY always different. Their most recent 4 albums (The Connect, Are You There, We Are Here, and Follow Find You) were all 4 versions, and each one was a separate photo concept. I'm also glad I chose to wait to see what the photobooks were. I'll get a deluxe version cuz those photos are slightly different from the member ones, but just one. Ah yeah I have some Itzy albums too, idk why they mixed both photo concepts into both books. It would have been better if they had exclusively one photoshoot in one book and another in the second, but that is just my preference.

I don't know why but album packaging doesn't really bother me that much, sure. Maybe there's a few things about them I'd like to change but it's very little. I like how different each album is..

As an ARMY of 6 years, I agree with everything you said!!!! As another person said in the comments, what bothered me was that it WAS advertised as a photo book, I thought we’d be getting a photo book like the one in Summer Package 2016 (chunky, with great quality photos). So yeah, I am a little sad. I did buy four versions because I want to support the boys and I guess BigHit knows that 😂💔

im so glad that you shared your honest opinion on the album packaging because i too have been scared to say it, but we all know it had to be said. after this long wait and the size of the album, i was expecting a really thick or just large high quality photos in a nice photobook. i respect that they were trying to be more environmentally friendly or something but i totally agree with you on the ironically large size of this supposedly environmentally friendly album that just contradicts the whole effort behind changing the photobook. i bought the album because the music is amazing and probably my favorite album from bts, but i have to say im still disappointed with the mini posters that just felt awkward to take apart or flip through. i personally love posters and they are my favorite thing in kpop albums besides the photobook, and i always hang my posters up but these mini posters are just so thin and flimsy, almost like a sheet of newspaper, that im afraid to put them up because they tear so easily. i just dont see the point behind making unusable posters, removing the photobook, and making it environmentally friendly because its just so large and its not like people who buy albums are gonna through them away so why worry about if they can decompose?? if anything theyre just gonna deteriorate on my shelf within a few years and thats really frustrating for a collector because you either buy more and wait for those to deteriorate too or you just live with an imcomplete set. anyways, just had to rant somewhere thank you for making the video💕

I bought all 4 versions of bts’ albums and I’m thinking of laminating all of the photos/posters. I was not expecting the photo book to be this way but I’m not mad about it. I see what they were trying to do and I think it’s nice for people who hang up posters. Also I do wish they would’ve given different postcards for each version because like you said a lot of people buy each version to collect different things from each concept. I don’t see a point in having 4 of the same exact thing. And yeah the coloring page is a waste as well. But regardless of the little complaints that I have, I do like the look of the albums and the concepts and I’m overall happy with my purchase.

So, I know somebody who works for a store that sells kpop albums in general, of course there were a lot of orders for the new BTS albums. The issue was, they didn't come bubble wrapped, not at all. They were just stacked next to eachother and in the box like that, making them slightly damaged. The posters were also weird and they had to send out disclaimers that if they didn't want the posters due to that they could just send them back. This is honestly just horrible packaging wise even if it was just for a store.

I loooved this video :-) it's sad that you would even think about not filming it, because some people might get angry about your opinions but i'm so glad you did! I do love the size of the BTS album and how it looks, but the content wasn't what i was expecting and i really don't get the "photobook" thing. I think it's also good to voice criticism about it as it might show BigHit that this is not really what Armys were hoping for. And i would be soo interested in what they were thinking when they decided the contents, like i can not imagine that they wouldn't at least consider that people might prefer a real photobook? It does seem like they wanted to just save money by doing that but i don't know. Obviously that does not at all change how much i love the album itself, it's a masterpiece, but i think it's also fun to talk about stuff like this and to see how other people feel about it :)

im very happy you talk about this. im freak out by the amount of bts fans (im an army too), that fight like hell with the ones who are criticizing the album packaging. like if we dont have the right to do it and accept everythin they give to us lol. i mean, yeah, bighit is somehow different than other companies but hey guess what, they still are a company and will sometimes sacrifice quality for quantity. so we as consumers have the right to stand up and talk about our disagreements with in this case the packaging and more over, to talk about those posters that aint a photobook and about that pages that everbody now says are eco friendly but nobody can prove it. if we as the consumers dont speak what we feel about this, they will keep doing things like this

Thumbs up for ur comment xD I personally was so excited about the release of Mots7 because its such an important album for the boys and armys. But then i saw someone unpack the album on Twitter and i was like: are they kidding us? 7years, 7boys, maybe last comeback because Jin has to leave for military...and they did that...wow. so... i just bought it on iTunes.lol And armys( or fans in general )who stupidly excepts everything good or bad just because there is a BTS logo on it just need to grow up. This whole Boyband thing is based on commerce (as if none of them had a girlfriend until now lol. we knew this scheme from american bands already) we as fans didnt know about the man e.g. kim namjoon, we know about the bandmate kim namjoon, the leader, the rapper. As fans we get to know what the companies want us to know. I think some people forget about that fact and loose themselves somehow (and hate everyone who attacks their little save world xD)

Also side note, I wish they had a photo book of the on kinetic music video still shots. The color scheme of that video was gorgeous

I totally agree with you when i told my friend about my complaints with the album she told me that its bts so i have to love it , i think you can still love the music and members but criticise the album packaging also if bighit wanted to be enivomentally more friendly they wouldn't of made 4 versions of the album , they know people buy all four which means that they have to make and ship more i think army just say that as a defence

Oh and it would be so cool if you would do a video on your favourite albums packaging wise! :-)

Kaitybubbly so sorry for those fans, they shouldnt get mad. Its the opinion of other ppl, if some ppl dont like the packaging then thats just them. Its ok, some armys cant be immature about every little negative comment. Its not even a bad thing, there would be a reason to get mad if someone said “bts dont deserve any fame, they dont work hard for it” or “they do it for money, they dont care about their fans”

I don't think the album is supposed to be eco-friendly but more like cost of production and distribution and thus only the mini posters were cut down on quality because printing those million copies on extremely good quality paper would cost a lot more for us and for them and the environment. *Like considering Young Forever album where they had really good paper, the production of it was way lesser than compared to now.* I would not tag it as environment friendly but leaning more towards the cost of distribution. BUT THEY COULD HAVE ADDED SOMETHING ELSE LIKE MAYBE A CUTE ACCESSORY RELATING TO THE THEME

I really liked this video! MX are my ult group and I don't stan BTS anymore but musically this album has actually made me listen to them more often and that makes me happy. I feel like you were very respectful to both groups and your complaints were reasonably and politely explained. Hope this encourages a healthy debate on your comment section 👍🏻 I checked a little and couldn't find anything so I was wondering if you could maybe do a top 10 (5 best packaged albums + 5 worst packaged) from all the groups you stan? You were right about the photos included in the first three versions, most of the blown up ones were concept pictures available on internet. My main complain was with version 2 & 3, the pictures are already so dark its even more difficult to see it in the paper that the print it on. And not to mention the poster crease line with those two versions are so bad because of how dark the picture is. And people saying you can't critique on the product that you buy is honestly confusing, what else do you think consumer feedback is? Not all of us are entitled or don't know the value on the product, we do save up and buy it for ourselves :/. I know you're not paying for pictures, you're paying for that disc filled with 19 songs. It's just a tad bit disappointing that's all. Forgot to mention, I got mine preordered in hmv uk, when I tell you I was bummed out on hearing the news on twitter that morning we wouldn't get that element of surprise on photo cards, just slightly bummed out but more than happy to get my ot7 cards. Also I definitely agree on the post card, they could've gone ahead with four different versions of it, cuz now you have identical copies if you were someone who wanted all four versions of the album.

my thoughts exactly. i don't like the thin paper and version 2 poster is so dark my mom didn't even see the wings. i got all 4 version from hmv as well

this really needed to be said i'm so glad you made this video. when (my number 1 group) seventeen released an ode me and a few others were criticising the packaging as we were disappointed with the outer envelope and how it was useless and was damaged really easily as well as the lazy art design and unnecessary amount of inclusions and versions. the amount of carats who went crazy over this and started witchhunting anyone who dared complain was so ridiculous. kpop fans need to realise that most companies have the objective of making as much money as possible and as fans (and customers) its not only our right but its also necessary for us to raise issues or problems when we are unhappy with them. especially when it comes to album packaging - we are paying a lot of money for these albums and we deserve good quality packaging. blindly consuming and praising merchandise and product with no critical thought just because its your favourite idol is very dangerous and naive

I'm relieved to see this video. Thank you for sharing your honest opinion. I was so incredibly excited to get this album, thinking (based on the concept teasers, the insane quality of the music, and the fact that this album is supposed to be a bit of 2 potential albums themes put together in one --this album covered the concepts of shadow and ego, whereas persona had its own album) so yeah, my expectations were fairly high and then....well, it was honestly a lackluster experience opening it all up. I've been collecting K-pop albums for years and aside from the size of the box, the contents felt like free giveaways. Low quality stickers, a coloring sheet that is printed on cheap printer paper in like faint dotted ink (even if you are artistic or crafty and would really enjoy using the coloring sheet you can't even paint it or use markers or anything other than maybe crayons or colored pencils or it will bleed messily or buckle the paper. It's gonna look ugly so what's the point.), and the "posters" oh no: they manage to be both dull and too reflective at the same time so you CANT SEE ANYTHING. All the details are lost bc the colors are so desaturated---like they are covered by, well, a shadow. (God I hope that wasn't intentional bc it was a bad idea) but also the paper has this texture that even though it is sort of matte every time I try to hold the posters up to light to strain to see more detail the light reflects off the texture and makes this horrible glare so I can't see the images at all. I was dumbfounded. (I got the Last Supper version so the concept is dark which made it even worse). I was planning to buy all the versions but now I can't really justify it bc the best part, the photos, aren't printed in good enough quality to make it worth it. Oh well.

I think for $25 (at target, walmart) that’s really not a bad price tag, but because alot of people bought the album through bighit, with the addition of the shipping, it real is pricey.

I saw it for €20 in the Netherlands, but overall the album's at that store were cheap so I'm definitely going back to get some

I 100% agree with everything you said and seeing so many armys attack people who criticize the packaging and blindly follow everything bighit does makes me fall out of love with this fandom more and more. I am a designer and the packaging just does not make any sense. The 'poster book' does NOT work as a photobook since it's not bound together, the image quality is bad and you need to take it apart to see the full photos. And it does NOT work as mini posters either since the paper is way too flimsy, it rips easily and both sides are printed. So I really don't know what they thought when they made this. Also the whole "environmentally friendly" argument was brought up by an army, not bighit. Someone - who probably thinks that thin paper automatically means environmentally friendly (spoiler: it does not) - blurted it out there and everyone used this to justify the quality. You CAN make eco friendly books that DO look amazing. And just what you said - why would they bother to print the photos on this kind of paper if they make the album this much bigger and use up more thick cardboard, bubble wrap and fuel that way?? It's the exact opposite of eco friendly. ALSO to armys who say "you buy the album for the music not for the extras" - no. Majority of people buy the album for the extras. They want to see gorgeous photos, collect photocards and postcards - that's literally the purpose of these albums. A huge majority who just wants to listen to the music will buy it digitally or stream it. In conclusion - this whole packaging feels rushed and not thought through at all; and that's a shame. Bighit had so much time and has so many resources, they could have made the most epic and mindblowing album ever.

I completely agree with you on everything. Especially the idea that it's supposed to be environmentally friendly? No. Like you said, the album would have been smaller then. Regarding the MX English album I remember someone saying that American companies never do it right. And also this is why I never preorder anything and why I watch unboxing videos first. I am wondering about how you felt about version two of the BTS album? My friend was really mad because that was the version she bought and it's so dark she said you can't see anything. P.S. I think Bighit just wanted to try something different.. actually I saw many armys saying they preferred this type of album.. with posters and stuff.. so I guess it’s subjective! I definitely preferred persona’s packaging. But that’s just cause I won’t use those posters.. like I don’t usually stick them onto my walls so. I rather have a solid and united album, like a book yeah. I think that they’ve seen the feedback cause a lot of people didn’t like it, so I guess they’ll go back to their roots for the next album

I don’t even mind the paper for the BTS booklet, I was just expecting it to be at least bound or stapled together like you know... a book.😭

I 100% agree with everything said in this video! For the price and especially the shipping that killed the wallet of everyone, I expect a lot more for the package of mots7

My only complaint is that I wished all the Map of The Soul albums would be the same size. MOTS Persona is so much smaller and it looks weird next to MOTS 7 on my shelf.

i feel like im the only one who actually likes the mots 7 album concept.. 🤣 i think that big hit wanted to try something new with the photos and thats why they didnt just make it a regular photobook. i noticed for some photos you can actully open it up and its like a mini poster and i like that! i actually put up one of the photos on my wall in my room.. hehe i think its nice bc people can have the option of putting the pictures up like a mini poster instead of it just sitting in your bookshelf

I love how you kept getting distracted from your rant by the cute pics :) I agree with every single thing you said about the BTS albums. I also am not a poster person, and I flipped through it like a book to keep it in order. Version 4 seemed to work the best of the versions, but in some versions (like 3), you had a lot of views of shoulders. The paper was bad for all the versions, but especially version 2 (which was one of the concepts most anticipated by Army!) If they'd thought about the album presentation more holistically, they either would have changed the paper to suit the photo concepts, or the photo concepts to suit the paper. It was just out of place. The teaser photos were better quality than the album photos!

I agree so much about the photo layouts not actually making sense with the folded mini poster format. I got version 3 and I kept getting so confused as I was flipping through the pages/posters bc half of the images were oddly positioned on the page (like the long group shot of them all sitting at the "Last Supper" table, the white folded crease went right through their chests ruining the small portion of the photo that wasn't just negative black space.) All the large full page individual shots also faded to mostly black for half of each page, like what's the point of making it full page if it's mostly pitch BLACK. It all just felt odd and poorly planned and executed.

Everything in this video was very very well said. As a long time supporter of both groups also I'm a bit disappointed and I'm glad you put these opinions across in a respectful way c

I agree when I saw ppl pulling off the sticker to get to the bts photobook im like omg...they didnt even tryyy to see if it slips out >< that was the first thing i did when I saw that packaging im like nopeee i will not rip that off. I was also disappointed in how....very little pages there were to this photobook?? i assumed that with this album being so big that the contents in it would be grand?? but it seemed like there was still empty room in the packaging like the contents didnt even fill up the depth/thickness of the outercase?? I only bought two versions...but in Version 2...maybe its just my ocd or designer in me...but THOSEE WHITEEE RECTANGLES IN VERSION 2 really bothered me it just seemed soo out of place and ruined the dark conept of the photobook....like they couldve made it a small rectangle just to highlight the members name orrr even just white lettering for the members name...my mom said it was maybe to autograph?? but idk...regardless...that design choice i cant...

As a UK fan I can confirm that Yes, we only got the group photocard. Me and my friend both got our albums from HMV and my sister got hers off amazon and all of us received a group photocard which is really annoying.

About the fact that 3 versions had to same photos as the teaser pictures- THANK YOU! I felt like there weren’t enough of photos, they literally added a tiny amount of photos added to teaser pictures :( it was rly upsetting

I've been listening to Epic Record artists since Pearl Jam and Judas Priest and this honestly is not the first time for Epic Records to screw over their artist's fans. Pearl Jam released an album back in 1995 called Merkin Ball and we as fans were super super excited because they said that they were releasing two different versions, although this was back when jewel cases were still pretty new to the music industry, we still wanted it. My dad got me both versions for my birthday and when I got it, it was really disappointing, the only thing that was different was the album covers and literally nothing else. Epic Records has been screwing their artists and their artist's fans since they started. Even when they had Ozzy Osbourne, they completely screwed up his career both in America and the UK, they basically used Ozzy as a cash cow and nothing more. I'm just scared that this will be Monsta X's first/last/only English album because it'll just really damage their reputation internationally. As a Monbebe, I just want t̶w̶o̶ ̶ one thing, for Monsta X to be happy a̶n̶d̶ ̶W̶o̶n̶h̶o̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶c̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶b̶a̶c̶k̶.̶

I 100000% agree. When I saw the photobook for BTS I just, "wow, are you joking here? this is tissue paper." Even if the intention was to hang them on the wall, it would immediately rip. I was begging BigHit to finally change up the packaging since LYS/Persona, since they were incredibly similar, but not like this LOL Can we also send this video to Loona's company because holy crap I'm tired of the doubled photobooks.

im grateful that someone used their platform to talk about this. i agree with absolutely everything you said and actually would like to add some things. if the BTS album was really meant to be environmentally friendly, then why is not cheaper? the manufactured for doing these environmentally friendly things are so much cheaper than the normal stuff, so if they are, why big hit is selling them for a bigger price than the other albums? if you buy the 4 versions on Target, you're spending 110 dollars, this price doesn't look like anything friendly. and it's awesome if the used recycled paper to do the """"photobook"""", then why they didn't used the same paper to the rest of the stuff inside this giant box filled with literal air. defending this stuff doesn't make any sense since big hit NEVER said that they used this or that and it all came from the fandom. also this paper made the pictures from version 2 look SO dark like i barely see the members, when i saw the concept, that was my favorite one but I can't see nothing on the paper, so if they are supposed to be double-sided posters, why i will put a piece of black paper on the wall? it doesn't make any sense.

Honestly speaking. When i heard about the BTS MOTS:7 album dropping, i saved up so hard to get all the set. I skip meals from school, i don't go out and never buys anything. I saved up bc i wanted the Album, as a collector, and as a fan i wanted to support BTS. Most importantly BTS' songs are worth everything. But when BigHit start shipping some of the albums and some armys are already uboxing it & when i saw the album at first, i was so disappointed by the BigHit ent. bc of the inclusion they have on the album. I love love the packaging and i really appreciate the packaging bc ik someone is sleepless for months, stress just to design the album & make it everything all right. But what disappoint me the most was i think i expect too much bc of the higher price + having such a big album. And its BTS. But when i saw the inclusions, i was so disappointed, from having the expectations of the old same photobook with more BTS' unseen photos and such. Mine haven't arrived yet but i was already disappointed. But i can't give my own opinion bc some armys are attacking other armys bc they don't like them criticizing bts when in fact, it's not about criticizing bts but we're just voicing our opinion about the packaging that BigHit made. but when tried to look at the point of some armys who is "protecting" the packaging of the album. I grow to understand them by protecting the Bands reputation by some antis. And i totally agree with that. Bc some antis will probably use these "armys are only buying bts albums bc of their photos and such" and i understand them having the thoughts of that. I respectfully agree with that. But i also respect some armys who is voicing their dismay about the packaging or the inclusions of the albums bc some of us, have to skip meals and save hard to get the album/s and not all of us have works or rich. And i totally can relate & respect them. But one thing for sure is; whatever the albums packaging or the inclusions or the price of the BTS albums,dvds and merchs is, it's not important. the only important is the songs. The masterpieces that was created, produce and lyrics all by bts is what makes all my disappointment all gone to wind. 20 songs from the Album, 15 new songs and for sure, bts work so hard for the songs and we can never ignore their lyrics to every songs and their sincerity. They work hard for this comeback. They tell us their struggles from the beginning and give us hope to dream more. And as my long comment ends, i hope you don't mind my english. i'm very bad at speaking in english but i tried lol. anyway, to some armys who is dismay by the packaging & the inclusion of the album, and the album only. I understand u and will respect your opinions. If we have more to say, maybe we can email bighit for them to hear us. For the other armys who are "attacking" the armys bc they don't like them sharing their opinions online where a lot of antis can probably see and start attacking the band and the armys. I understand and will respect your thoughts and opinions too. Thank you for protecting the boys 💜 . Let's just all remember, spread love not hate. OMG... So agree with youuuu. I'm an army and a monbebe, I love both boys but I also "kinda dissapointed" with their current album. Bighit should stick to they used to be. And for Epic Records, pls learn from all MonstaX's previous albums. Love u 👌, I'm ur subscribers now 😊

Also, I'm from the UK. We only got group cards when purchasing from UK sellers e.g. HMV and supermarkets. This is due to new laws regarding the charts 🙄 an album can't be sold with an undisclosed item.. I'm so angry and upset about it. Don't even get me started 😂❤️
