back when the web was a great, magical and most of all, free place and we would get real pleasure browsing it to escape reality instead of it being our inescapable reality like it is today

Thanks for watching, Constantinos! No need to be sad though. Look at the bright side. Now we don't have pay to for the dial up phonecall's duration and we get to surf and use the telephone at the same time! :-)

@@MrComputerRetro Hello,I´m curious at Ghostwriter´s tv series, here in the story Who is Max Mouse? they write in blue screens with nothing on them, you can see they don´t use mouse either. They have a modem,so there is Internet .Example at 7:47: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d6J6l8OmfMiwkdY.html.Then in episode 4 where they play some games:kzread.info/dash/bejne/pXt229qQYrWZmLQ.html.I´m very curious at the system they use for computers. Is it Nestcape?.But not sure,12:55, you can see them chatting and then playing games:.kzread.info/dash/bejne/pXt229qQYrWZmLQ.html.BTW all 4 episodes are very cool XD.Well all this series XD.

How did you simulate old internet? I can imagine this is some kind of sandbox interfacing with webarchive, but since it seems so seamless would like to know more

Hello! Thanks for watching. The websites were reconstructed with parts from various sources (mostly webarchive) and are served from one of the computers in my LAN. I can see the word "AROS" on your avatar. If it's referring to the Amiga OS, I have a similar video on my channel which I think you're going to like! It shows browsing 50+ Amiga related websites of the 90s with the Amiga!

I’m only 20 but sadly I grew up in a rural area and had dial up until 2013 lol, so half the websites used to load in like text base versions looked a lot like these websites.

What timing, 2 days ago I powered up an old G3 iMac I had and tried to see what, if anything, I could access on the internet. Google was mostly usable, but even the internet archive was pretty broken. Looks like you put a lot of time into this, very cool!
