Let's Sew a Minimalist ID Wallet
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is a step-by-step tutorial on how to construct the Minimalist ID Wallet pattern by Rosie & David. If you would like to sew along with me, I do have a link below for where you can purchase the pattern. The wallet is great when you want to travel light, but need to carry your ID, credit cards or cash. There is an ID window on one side and an exterior pocket with a flap closure on the other side. Use the zippered compartment for items that you want to carry more securely. It will even fit a few essential items such as lipstick or hand sanitizer. You can make an optional wristlet strap or lanyard or just add a split key ring for attaching keys. The wallet is approximately 5.5” Wide X 4” High. I used the Linework fabric collection from Tula Pink to make the wallets you will see in this video. I sewed on the Juki DDL 8000A. The pattern includes an SVG file if you would like to cut out your pieces on the Cricut Maker. The SVG file has only been tested on the Cricut Maker. I have not tested the SVG file on any other electronic die cutting machines. There are Timestamps below, so please feel free to skip around the video. I hope that you enjoy the tutorial. Great Pattern!! Great video tutorial and instructions! Just finished 4th one. Thank you Rosie's Art Studio.
Great tutorial and a Wow small purse with lots of features. I just bought some vinyl yardage and am looking forward to making your purse and buying your pattern. Thank you "sew" much.❤
I love this pattern and Rosie does an excellent tutorial, too! I'm making another one now.
Love this pattern and tutorial! Easy to follow directions. Made myself one, now several of my friends want one.
Thanks so much for another super tutorial! I always look forward to seeing you here on youtube. Can't wait to make several of these!

You will be surprised at how fast it goes together. I love the fabric on these. I will probably gift some of them, but they will be hard to part with. Thanks for your kind comments and for watching!
I always look forward to your videos, no matter what you're making. I seem to always learn something new. I'm glad you're creating your own patterns. You seem to have the mind of an engineer. I love your precision and accuracy; it suits my personality! Thank you for all your time. I am always amazed by (and thankful) for your generosity (and all others who teach)! Such a gift!

I, too, always enjoy your videos. Though I normally carry a purse, during the pandemic, to minimize the stuff I need to carry, I made a similar pouch from one of your earlier videos to carry driver's license and a debit card, and I clip it to my car keys. I even made my mask in matching fabric. The pouch from this video will be good for me when I return to work (who knows when, really) where I am required to wear a badge. My old lanyard desperately needs replacing, but with working at home, I haven't needed it for over a year now. I am considering making one for each of my co-workers as well as gifts. Thank you again, for a great tutorial and very clear, easy-to-follow instructions.

Truly the best sewing tutorials on KZread! You are so patient and so thorough. I just bought a brand new computerized Juki (my first actually new machine since I really started trying to learn to sew-at least 20 years ago). I have a 45 year old Bernina that has been a true beast but doesn’t do topstitching well at all and it drifts about three extra stitches when I stop sewing. I also have a used industrial straight stitch Juki that sews great but is really limiting with straight stitch only. I unboxed the new machine today and within 30 minutes was testing it out. I think I’m really going to enjoy it!! I can’t wait to buy and try to make this adorable wallet!! Thank you so much for your fantastic tutorials!!

Congratulations on your new sewing machine. Glad to hear you recognized the limitations of your older machines and moved on to a great new machine. You deserve it. What a smart move!❤

Enhorabuena! Un tutorial muy bien explicado. Gracias
You are so easy to follow Thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hello Rosie! I´ve watched every of your videos and I like them all!! These little pouch is cute and I think it´ll be easy to sew. :-) The presser foot on this machine you are using would drive me nuts with its jumping up at every stop :-), but the thread cutter seams to be amazing. Kind regards from Germany - Monika -

I am glad you are liking the videos! Having the presser foot raise when I stop helps to keep my hands free and out of the video when I need to pivot, etc. It can be turned off. Thanks for watching!
I love your tutorials; they're precise and very easy to follow. Do you have a tutorial for using the SVG cut files in Cricut Design Space? I'm very new to this and I need to make on of these wallets for a friend of mine asap. I can't figure out how to arrange the various pieces on each layer. Please help!

I am so glad to hear that you are liking the videos. If I could only have one sewing machine (which I must admit I am rather spoiled when it comes to sewing machines) I would pick the Juki TL2010Q. I really love that machine. It is easy to use and a reliable workhorse that sews very well through many materials. Thanks for watching!!
I enjoy your tutorials! Thank you Rosie! I always look forward to a new video. I have a question, as a maker, do sell what you make online, or at shows or consignment? Another question is.. as you build inventory, how do you store your bags and wallets till it's time to sell them?
@RosiesArtStudio
3 жыл бұрын
I am glad you are liking the videos. Thanks for watching! I actually do not sell what I make as I really do not have the time for it. In the past when I have tried selling, it was very hard for me to keep up with it. So, I focus on the videos and teaching which I really enjoy doing. Best wishes with your selling efforts.
Love the tutorial and it's super helpful for the pattern I purchased. Thank you for a great pattern. The ads however are very frustrating as they pop in during key moments. I know they can be reduced and it would be very helpful to see less ads.
My question is can I put a few card slots inside?? An if so like a video tutorial thank you for sharing ❤
I purchased your pattern and made my first one. I love it and will definitely be making more. Do you think I could use a vinyl for this pattern? Thanks for a great tutorial.

Will I need to change my presser foot if I have a walking foot?
Thank you for doing this video! I have been wanting to try a smaller project. Do you think this would be good for a beginner and with a domestic machine?
@RosiesArtStudio

This would be a great beginner project and also great for skill building as it has a zipper. A domestic machine would be just fine. Thanks for watching!
I am so excited to make this and bought your pattern. For the ID window I don't have the measurements. how do I get it please?

Hello Rosie, I just purchased the minimalist ID wallet pattern, can I use a zipper by the yard #5 with a tab at the end on the wallet or it would affect the seam allowance? I would appreciate your advice, as usual, fantastic video! Thank you

Newbie here to sewing stuff, and I'm just wondering what it means every time she says "I'm just gonna baste this stitch here..." If someone could please explain that to me, that would be helpful. Thanks.
@seamsuneven7824
2 жыл бұрын
Hiya, basting means to sew to join the seams. Either with larger stitches temporarily or just to close the seam to make it basically "more manageable" or Close the seam. Rosie was basting to close the seam. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask me any questions you may need help with. 💜
What is the name of the fabrics you used!
