I wish he would take the time to use it properly, I've watched a few other Rimworlds with other players who use it properly and it seems to make a big difference.

I learned a great deal through his lets plays. Like how important it is to use the priorities list properly and how man power even if they can't haul is still better than no man power at all.

I tend to run with at least twice as many people as he does. Usually a dedicated cook and at least one dedicated researcher, anyone that can fight and either craft, grow, or research gets accepted. At the very least they make decent bullet sponges.

tbh I love the idea of playing on a lower difficulty in order to play around with interesting mechanics count me in for this series

Rimworld was in Alpha for so long, I started to think "alpha" is part of the name.

It IS in fact officially in Beta now. This is taken from the Ludeon Studios website; "It’s finally in Beta! This is build 0.18.1722 of RimWorld... The “Beta” designation means that we’re on the final stretch before the 1.0 release, and that there won’t be major content additions like whole new game systems.". You're right about the last thing you said though. Rimworld is one of the best Indie games there is.

RIPWorld. Was hoping for some major changes by the time the game gets finalized, but now, I guess it will forever be a 'meh' game as Tynan moves on to something else. Shame.

Quill you can place wooden floors over mud to make it suitable for construction.

Swamp biome... prepare for full-time plant cutters. :)

Best thing about new Quill let's play... Fresh content and excitement. Bad thing about new Quill let's play... unable to bingewatch the entire playthrough! In all seriousness, I am really looking forward to this one, keep up the great work.

Hi Quill! When you eventually go for another run (it's bound to happen when everything falls apart due to malaria or something), how about going for a hippy colony? Use prepare carefully to make all your initial settlers be chemically interested. Then make a co-op community where everybody is vegetarian (or even vegan, so no eggs and milk). Of course you can defend yourself, but every life matters, so you are not allowed to finish off people or let them die. You need to save ANYONE you can. Make sure that you create a huge farm with smokeleave and psychoid plants. Also, no using money, because that belongs to evil corporations! You can only trade goods, so try keeping received or spend silver as close to 0 as possible in trades. What do ya think? Interesting? Challenging? Or boring as hooha?

would be funny if they added in a VERY rare Ogre, (only in swamp biome) should be very dangerous if provoked but also profitble if killed.

You don't want your visitors to just buy everything in your homezone, they will buy your medicine, components, food... everything you would want to keep. Later, when you have a guestroom, put a stockpile there with drugs, uninstaled art/furniture, etc. and let them buy these.

You replaced your door on top of your future freezer with the cooler, not sure if you meant to eliminate the door. Some new things in B18, Quill18: End Tables and Dressers improve comfort from sleeping. Each bed needs its own End Table, but all beds within range of a Dresser (that isn't blocked by a wall) can benefit from that. That'll help a bit with mood, and I think the better resting helps with healing.

You should use the ResearchPal mod instead of Organized Research. In fact, they explain in the mod info page that they've quit updating their mod because ResearchPal is so much better.

There was a swamp right in the middle of the first world. They've got names for a reason!

You can see where to build by flooring the ground, you don't have to floor it, just see where you can build.

You may want to consider ResearchPal for organizing your research window. I just started using it in b18 and I'm liking it a lot.

are those nice looking trees only in marshes or in all biomes?

Those randomly placed turrets might be a ways off Quill. Have you noticed how far down the research tree they are now?

What mod do you have that's letting you rename animals? Its not in the linked modlist.

Quill I think I have the luckiest colony ever. Its rough too and its the first time playing Rimworld. So now I have 100 meals, 5 people, 6 alpacas, 4 boomalopes, 1 grizly bear and soon 2 Megasloths. Dude I got a person whos expert with lvl 17. My net objective is to have a Thrumbo, but they are a bit rare and hard to tame. And I am planing to mve my colony in much more etreme envoirment, like a rainforest or desert Ill see... but anyway the best option in a game its to have animals and be in a good zone.

It might actually work quite well here - all the trees would be decent cover as they close with enemy shooters.

GundiMike they are not dangerous in rimworld unless they get mad at you for hunting them or go crazy, which could happen to any animal

People said I was a fool to build a castle in a swamp but I did so anyways.

they're one of the hardest animals to tame, and really it's just better to kill them, they've got good meat on them, and if they're alive and wild they have a tendency to eat any of your young animals. Have had one self tame before, surprisingly effective at defending your colony against melee fighters.

+1 like and sucbscribe for sharing your mod list, really helps me relate to your experience.

Not entirely sure why you don't check out those structures, seeing the difficulty level neither might be Danger, and it would safe so much time cutting and building.

You pointed out the new extra pawns on the character creation screen but then completely ignored them and just rerolled your pawns like always. There were five others there you didn't even look at.

Yes, the game is now feature complete according to Tynan, the developer. There will be balancing tweaks and there may still be some content added such as more animals, furniture and the like, but nothing which requires entire new systems to be coded.
