When I was a lad assembling these miniatures I would have terrible nightmares about an apocalyptic time when highly convoluted miniatures, much more than this, come with instructions without words at all and terrible, grainy little pictures and only the loosest interpretation of the word "instructions". Brrr It's a good thing that never came to pass.

@@warface4881 Hard to say. Maybe something like: Barbarian: 8 (on par with the Orc) Dwarf: 6 (slow and sturdy) Elf: 9 (not as fast as a goblin, but faster than everything else) Wizard: 7 (the decent average) Usually when we played, the heroes would pile around a closed door, then the first would kick it down and storm the room - followed by his friends. A high movement wouldn't really help you reach any new enemies, but a low roll would prevent you from reaching some. Of course, not important once you get crossbows. Until there are enemies, I would even consider ignoring "movement". You can slide up to the next corner or door (tripping traps etc. along the way) to speed things up.

The Barbarian is pretty essential early on because of the extra attack dice he starts with plus his extra body points - it's not until some of the later expansions that his only weakness (2 Mind) is even relevant. Once you start getting equipment and Magic Items it's less important as the others characters start catching him up in terms of damage dealing.

This reminds me of my very first game at the age of 8, when the last party member standing was the elf with 1 HP killed the gargoyle and fled the remaining 3-4 monsters all the way to the exit. I loved the fimir so much. I'm almost finished a Mordheim gang of glorious one-eyed monsters.

great old times! I used to play that join to some friends We completed some whole books adventures and campaigns and after We start creating new adventures: heroes, monsters, places, kingdoms.. and attaching to the game. it was an wonderful time.. it was about 23 or 24 years ago. and hero quest was the absolute staarting point, so I myself could get in to the amazing world of role playing games: from brazilian: Arkanun, 3d&t, etc to intrnational: dungeons and dragons, vampire, werewolf, street fighter, gurps and so on.. but everything started thanks to hero quest great old times

This is def' one of my childhood games I wish I hadn't traded in for store credit way back when. It really does deserve a revamp but is unlikely to happen due to complicated copyright laws for it still. But it is def a fun game if you can get a hold of a complete copy... and the little expansion packs they made for it.

Only sick people should be quarantined, Everybody needs to reject this hoax. Its the jab thats killing people! Not some wimpy flu virus that doesn't make anybody sick unless they are elderly or already sick with something!

I played this with my older cousin in the 80s and early 90s, as well as warhammer 40k and D&D. I have just received my new heroquest game from online, £100 it cost but its well worth it just for the nostalgia. And its all plastic,no cardboard doors or furniture. Im looking forward to painting them..
