Every human can hold their breath for 3 minutes if they 1, know how to properly take a deep breath. And 2, can get over the mental block. It takes practice, but not breath training and lung exercises, to be able to hold for 3 minutes.

oh and yes holding breath underwater is a lot better for doing a true length test, also exhaling slowly towards the halfway can help because you'll get a co2 buildup

I skipped watching this video when I saw the upload originally because I assumed it would be a trivia game and I don't really like trivia games... but I decided to watch it now because I'm catching up on videos from NRB and I regret skipping this one! It's so funny!! I wish the game had a different name because it doesn't show how good of a game this is honestly.

Being underwater does let you hold your breath longer. Putting your face under cold water triggers the diving reflex, which slows your heart rate and restricts peripheral circulation to conserve oxygen. Static apnea times are recorded in pools.

I honestly love just seeing everyone just talk about themselves together. Like just the little discussion about Sully sometimes being a sore loser was really nice. It was genuine and wholesome

I love that Adam paraphrased a bit I've done for years. "A person, they are almost always great and even a small group are usually okay, but people.....people are f-ing awful."

feels almost like something a Pratchett character or his narration would say, something like "A person on their own is generally pleasant and good natured. But once you get into people it starts to become a problem. At a small group you can't always tell the difference. But the more people there are the worse they become. This general rule of a person versus people goes a long way to explain the city of Ankh-Morpok: The largest city on the disc."

Tilly and Izzy were so right with that private island scenario. I would even live there forever if I could.

My answer for that would either be a week or the rest of my life because I don't think I could go back to living a normal life after more than a two-week vacation.

At the start of the "grumpy" round my thoughts were: Well Laurie is going on top, even when he's got enough sleep he's around 80.

The amount of personality in each naming tile is brilliant: - Laurie's is ginger, with bold letters; almost as if he's yelling it out in frustration. And... it has hair and mustache? - Blue is the game, Sully is the name... although spelt like a toddler signing his first notebook! Adorable - Holly is written out like you're saying it annoyed, and is surrounded by (guessing) fire-breathing dogs and mistletoe? That tracks. - Adam is so boxed into his idea of being the main character, that's all the tile has space for! - Jon's tile inexplicably looks like it's about to unravel? With love of course! - Izzy definitely doesn't use this as her calling card for that death cult... - Tilly is extra, unapologetic, and even has an exclamation point with hearts instead of dots to prove it!

Once I realised this wasn't a game per se, I didn't expect to enjoy it, but it turned out to be one of my all-time favourites and a reminder why I love this wholesome cast so much!

izzy and tilly had the only acceptable answers to the private island one, WHAT DO YOU MEAN 7 DAYS LAURIE??? a free vacation??? to just relax???? i expected like a minimum of 6 months bc like WHY NOT

I'm with Izzy on the birthday question. I wouldn't mind presents, but getting older and being in the centre of attention...nah, thanks, I hate it! Especially when your birthday is the same day as another holiday. Mine's a national day, for example. And it's horrible, trust me

Weirdly I recently turned 40 and I’ve slowly switched in the last few years from hating it, to being ambivalent, to now not minding it at all. It’s kinda nice hanging out with your friends doing whatever you want. Organising time when adults are free to catch up is the worst but when it’s your bday your friends are obligated to work around you and no one minds because of the social contract lol

hold your breath is probably a game brook used to play back in the day

when they were doing the “how long do you think you can hold your breath for” I kept trying to hold my breath and time it but I was trying to do it while watching the video and multiple times I had to start over because I laughed.

Tilly episodes = best episodes. Doubloons.

I so feel Laurie with that statement about January Birthdays. Right after the holidays everyones burnt out from the social gatherings, saving back up not really spending after all they did over the holidays. Plus it's at the smack bang start of the year, so it's like whiped out immediately. So it's like the rest of the year goes by and it's like did I really have a birthday? As everyone else awaits and celebrates theirs.

The thing about being a sore loser is, it's about how you treat others when you lose. Which means if everyone around a table thinks you're a sore loser, but you don't.... you probably are 😂 Sorry, Holly! "My earliest memory is going to hospital because my older sister told me to eat a packet of silica gel." It's nice to know the phenomenon of truly evil older sisters is a global trend. Growing up, my sister once duct taped me to a chair, dragged me and the chair into her dark bedroom, stuffed a pair of her dirty socks in my mouth, and left me there struggling to get free for a good 5 minutes before returning in laughter. And that's *different* from the time she gave me an actual concussion with the metal prongs of an extension cable because I didn't know how to help her with something on the computer. What is it with older siblings?

I can't believe how late some people's memories are. I have loads of memories from when I was 3. (When I was 4, we moved to a different state, so I can easily distinguish which memories were before then.) Here are some: (1) When I was sent to some sort of child care place, they had toys which were normally kept in drawers in furniture all over the place. Some of the toys were Flintstones toys. I wanted to play with all of the Flintstones toys, but I was annoyed that they were not organized at all and I had to go looking everywhere to find all of the different characters. (2) There was a church. There was a song "He's got the whole world in his hands." After the event, there was an area with a stage. All the big kids were running and jumping onto the stage. I decided to do that... except I forgot to jump. Instead, I just ran straight forward and smacked my head, splitting it open. I had to go to the hospital to get stitches and (fifty years later), I still have a scar. (3) I remember trying to protect my sister from a bully by grabbing a rake and chasing him. (4) I remember visiting the Wizard of Oz theme park and the scary witch. (5) I remember watching some things on TV. (6) I remember the "Funny Faces" drink mix (like Kool-Aid but each flavor had its own mascot character). There was an offer for mugs that you could send off for, so my mom get one for me and one for my sister. I chose the green one because he looked cool. I didn't know what flavor it was until much later (it was the watermelon flavor's mascot apparently). (7) I remember falling down some carpeted stairs. I also remember things that might be earlier than 3, but I can't be sure: (1) I remember my security blanket (like Linus) (2) I remember the taste of a pacifier and having to give it up.

Tom cruise, and a lot of free divers, have held their breath for greatly extended periods of time. Tom held his for 6+ minutes while filming that one Mission: Impossible movie where he had to dive into a server bank to change out a drive or something underwater.

Y'all are having such clear memories from when y'all weren't even in school yet. Like, my only early primary school memories are that of my father getting angry, and playing with beads. But like, I definitely can't specifically place such memories on a timeline

I was waiting on this episode, because I like learning about people, and I learned a lot today.

The memories thing is nuts to me, my first memory is not remembering anything because I had retrograde amnesia when I was 3, the fact that it was weird to not remember anything at 3 has always made me assume I was on the higher end and people would still have memories from before then. I'd've probably seemed just as weird as Adam putting three and confidently shoving myself right at the top of the list...
