This game is all about managing your resources, and giving people easy access to them, so that they don't have to waste a whole day walking to the other side of the map to grab every single thing they are missing. A marketplace lets you centralize all your goods in a single place, with dedicated vendors who will go and grab it in bulk, so that the people living nearby can get what they need from there instead, saving them a lot of travel time in the process. It's not something you will need right away, but as your city grows, it will inevitably get more and more spread out. Similarly, you want to place your stockpiles and storehouses in a way that will let people get the raw resources they need, and store what they produce, nearby, and enough housing near where they work, so that they don't have to travel to and fro all the time.

Not exactly. This game is about terrain space management. How do you adapt to the natural expansion of your settlement population by building different resource structures with space and terrain being your major constraints. It is a settlement simulator.

@@trumplostlol3007 Terrain is what limits your expansion paths and makes you adapt instead of just building in a large circle. Long travel times are what kills your runs once your city grows larger, if you don't plan your supply chains ahead of time.

@@zioming Long travel time is what I will refer to "space management". This game is about managing space subject to the constraints imposed by the terrain. I always play the mountainous terrain cause it is the most challenging.

The beginning was a lot of fun. Now let's see how the middle and end game is.

For hard starts it’s east to get diverted on things that are not a priority. To survive the first winter you need only 1 house, a woodcutter and a all season food supply I.e. a gatherer with a nearby barn. Then add hunter and then blacksmith. Variations after that. Is fun

I am currently playing megamod 9, a collection of over 400 mods. Every game I try a few new things and it has added a ton of replay ability and fun.

epic game one for the ages, if i remember correctly making gatherers and foresters are key to get wood and food, fisheries are more a supplement to your veggies and roots gathered, also these have to be placed in high amount of woods to work well i used to even pick all the stones in a forest to allow more roots/veggies/trees to grow. also also having more than one forester could be useful so one could cut and the other replant, kind of like a crop rotation for trees lol

If you like this I can highly recommend Foundation. That game has modular building, I've made some amazing looking medieval cities in that. This always felt more rigid since its gridbased

Good luck, I've played this game quite a bit. My only advice to you is that the object of this game is to have fun. Keep chanting that, lol.

Ive had this game for ages, love it, one of the hardest civ builders out there. If you mess up even slightly then its game over. Love that. Population management is so important. Need to keep the young people in houses to make babies, or your gonna die out. LOL

The gatherer is the best food producer. I build the hut every time at First. It is important that in the circle is Forrest and no mountains. The fisher need a way mor water to produce the fish you need for the Citizen. I never build one. I play the game with the coloniel mod. This is a lot of fun.

Three things I learned about this game. One, roads get built first. They will drop everything to build a road. Two, educated workers are faster at their jobs. Three, firewood and tools are very important. They help workers, but are also good for trade. So glad I found your channel, I have subscribd . Thank you
