Your method of cutting and sewing it have everything to do with making it flat! Most people have difficulty with the 'Lone Star' -keeping it from puckering in the center. Thanks for showing how to get a great result!

If just started doing stars with 60° diamonds which results in a six point star. I'm loving trying different colour combinations. The main thing to achieving success is definitely accuracy, from cutting to sewing to ironing. I could really do with a Matt in my sewing room to cut all the fabric whilst I sew.

Fascinating! I have taken some of your tips, about grain, and pressing and been using them in some other quilts. As a long time quilter I did not think that I was doing anything "wrong", but your tips have made a world of difference! Who Knew? This is a beautiful quilt, thank you for the vid and the free pattern. Also, I want to say thank you for showing us the basics. In other words, you show how you choose fabrics, and how you cut etc... and while many of us think we already know all that, I have been amazed at your techniques.

This is one pattern where it really makes a difference if your pieces are not laid out on the straight grain. The stretching can get magnified and then center of the star will not lay flat. This can make quilting the quilt very difficult and we don't want that!

amazing that for as long as I have been piecing no one EVER showed the correct way to cut ad piece diamonds. now this is not so intimidating to piecers, thanks to Matt for his knowledge of pattern cutting. And of course to you donna for the actual instructions and explanation of the piecing. You both make piecing easier when we know the reasons behind the cutting and sewing, pressing as well.

Your tutorial is much more thorough and I appreciate that! Something I'd love to see your take on, though, is the Jelly Roll Race Quilt. Donna and Matt, wow, your video and accurate techniques have blown me away. You are both wonderful teachers, with very clear instructions (and handy tips). I've had the honour and pleasure of meeting both of you (and your lovely daughter!) in your amazing shop (when you first opened @ new location). I filled up a suitcase with as many fabrics as I could fit to take back to Australia with me (sorry we have limits!). I look forward to visiting your place again and I'll bring a larger suitcase this time! ;) PS: I used to order from you via eBay, but shipping has gotten too expensive (not your fault!). Anyway, I'd rather spend money on your fabrics instead - also gives me an excuse to travel, so I get to see you guys, too. Thanks for your fabulous videos. Please reply when you get a mo'...cheers!

I didn't realize it had a button on the top that I pushed for the steam. I thought it was supposed to come out automatically as I ironed all these years. I noticed when you all ironed you controlled the steam till the end. I thought it was kinda funny, so that's why I am telling you.

Thank you very much for this video, that has helped me to create my own long star quilt. I love your tutorials, and the way you explain. Since I am spanish I dont understand english but follow what you do on the videos (my daughter is writing this for me). Loads of Love and thank you again, Kontxi
