Let's Make a Ship From Trash

Ойын-сауық

I found a little model kit pilot and an eye drop bottle that was trash and thought it would be cool to make a scratch build/kitbashed trash ship. I kitbashed some model parts, gundam bits and other trash bits I've collected to put this together. This kitbash trash build came together pretty easy and with a little custom paint and some weathering I think it came out great.
I hope you enjoy this toy customization kitbash video!
Thanks for visiting DR Toys, and as always...

In older editions of 40k, GW actually gave instructions on how to build a land-speeder from a deodorant bottle. I myself am old enough to remember when they recommended making home-made terrain out of cardboard as a way to save money. Oh they were different times :D

It has a real 50's futurism vibe. A thing I find missing from a lock of scrapbuilt model ships is panelling and having the aerodynamic exterior compromised with extensive greebly usage. Realistic space ships wouldn't have core components and circuitry exposed or really anything that wasn't integral to function, modern ships in our world are mostly smooth and seamless looking, but up close are riddled in panelling and formed smaller patchwork-like parts. In the case of the ship made here, it looks as though the ship is a single metal form with glass cockpit. Carving in some groove lines to suggest depth between panels, or layering over thin sheets of film or paper to paint over can do wonders for breaking up the smooth body of scrap-built ships.

Great input… thanks for not just saying “I hate it “😂 I totally agree… I always struggle with how much is too much and what to little. I also regret painting over the cool little copy on the wings… Learning is part of the journey. Thanks again.

This is great. As you were applying the final paint I was hearing the music from the movie “Heavy Metal” in my head. This is great.

Whatever the reason my brain gravitated to this so much, this was such a rad idea from the outset, and you completed it all so well. great build, well worth the watch.
