"To Pimp a Butterfly" is a great title that makes a lot of sense with and without listening to the album. "To Pimp a Caterpillar" is a dumb title that just references Tupac because TUPAAAACCCC. The change was one of the best decision Kendrick made.

To pimp a caterpillar acutally makes sense though, TPAB does not. He’s implying that pimping a caterpillar is what makes a butterfly. TPAB is a much better name but it makes way less sense.

"To Pimp a Butterfly" is saying when you become the top tier butterfly that you're meant to be, do you fold under the pressures of BEING a butterfly (#1 rapper). "Tu Pimp A Caterpillar" stands more on the sense metaphor of Tupac going from Digital Underground (caterpillar) to All Eyez On Me (butterfly). During Tupacs come up in the biz, he was constantly being tried, broken, set up by the media but never folded. That's what pimping the caterpillar means. The both make sense but only 1 makes sense without context.

WeJammin yeah, I have to agree. I can still listen to more than 50% of All Eyez On Me without hitting the skip button. There are still some classics on The Chronic that I can listen to again. It just doesn’t have the same replay value in my opinion, at least compared to AEOM.

I don't think that the mom's hot take in that comic is meant to be taken entirely seriously. Calvin and Hobbes always had a massive satirical bent to it.

It's really great to see Colors become a thing in the US. As a french rap fan, I've seen their audience go from francophones and other europeans to a very wide international community. Especially check out Sopico, Dinos or Isha on the channel, their music surely relies a lot on lyrics, but I think you can enjoy it even as a non-french-speaker

Let’s argue: Music that’s a little badly produced and recorded has more replay value. I think it’s cause you often have to grow on it and it often makes it harder to learn the lyrics, making every listen interesting and fresh.
